System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

The voice on the phone wasn’t very supportive: ”Aren’t there two people left at the bottom? Are you going to report them?”

”One was selected for orthopedics, and the other seems to want to give up as well.”

”The scores are too high, I’m sure. The exam this time was very difficult, someone is definitely up to something!” Li Yuanlin said.

”If I don’t go, then participating in the later exams is pointless for me.”

The phone replied: ”But if your anonymous report doesn’t work, and you report with your real name, have you thought about what you’ll do if you can’t provide evidence?”

Li Yuanlin was silent for a moment: ”But from what I’ve heard, there’s a 90% chance there’s an issue with those scores.”

His uncle, having experienced more things, said: ”Ninety percent isn’t a hundred percent, you have to consider the current situation. The central inspection group is in Xiangzhou, they haven’t left yet, why would they dare give such scores in this selection exam?”

”Do you think anyone would be bold enough to play games under their noses?”

”And have you considered whether it’s possible that someone has already anonymously reported it after the scores came out?”

”Li Yuanlin, listen to me, don’t act rashly for now, just participate in the exam as usual.”

”Let’s wait and see how things develop.”

”Truly, in such special times, when such scores appear, we have to be even more cautious.”

”If it were before, and you said you wanted to report, I would probably support you in investigating the scores, but at this point, I’m not against it.”

”Something abnormal must be hiding something sinister!”

Li Yuanlin asked: ”Uncle, are you suggesting I give up on this exam too?”

The uncle said: ”Just take it as usual, who knows if the person ranked after you might stir something up?”

”He gave up, we mentioned it briefly after choosing positions,” Li Yuanlin said.

The uncle said: ”And you believed he gave up just because he said so?”

Li Yuanlin thought for a long time before saying: ”That’s true, maybe we can only wait and see.”

”But uncle, if neither of us steps forward, and something happens in secret, what then? Wouldn’t that be a huge loss?”

”If you don’t pass this year, there’s always next year. If not next year, you’re almost due for a promotion to associate senior level, then you can use talent introduction.”

”Associate senior positions at the State People’s Hospital are still quite rare, with significant personnel turnover, so there’s no need to rush.”

The uncle said: ”Anyway, from my understanding and intuition, there’s more than a 90% chance that this person’s score is legitimate!”

”Otherwise, it wouldn’t be released so easily. Since it’s a real score, there’s no need to hide it.”

”That sounds too unbelievable!” Li Yuanlin’s voice carried a hint of panic.

”Don’t underestimate anyone; those who make their mark in the county are not simple, either they have connections or absolute skills.”

”And when encountering such a powerhouse with absolute skill, our only choice is to give way.”

”The abilities of such individuals are generally well above average, not just rumors.”

”Think about it, if someone wants to tamper with scores, they’d adjust it within ten points, who would make it thirty points above second place?”

”Can such a brainless person get into the core circle? How strong are his connections?”

”Has he had such strong connections while in Xiangzhou for so long?”

Li Yuanlin sighed deeply: ”...”

...

After dinner, Lu Cheng went for a walk with Mu Nanshu.

”Book Bag, you came here for dinner, where did that senior sister of yours go to eat?” Lu Cheng asked.

”Xie Yuan’an, she made her own arrangements. I invited her, but she didn’t want to come, am I not allowed to eat?” Mu Nanshu said with a smile.

”I think if she was truly open and honest with you, she should have come.”

Lu Cheng: ”...”

This running joke won’t let go, will it?

Just then, Lu Cheng’s phone rang.

It was an unknown number, but its origin was Xiangzhou, and it was a landline.

”Hello?” Lu Cheng asked, puzzled.

It was 8:50 PM, wondering why a landline was calling him.

”Hello, is this Dr. Lu Cheng? I’m calling from the Human Resources Department of Xiangzhou People’s Hospital. My name is Qi Mu,” said a man’s voice on the phone.

”Hello, Teacher Qi, this is Lu Cheng,” Lu Cheng replied.

”I’m calling as part of the usual process to inform you, Dr. Lu, that you’re scheduled for an emergency surgery skills exam on November 13, and a mentorship assessment on the 14th and 15th.”

”Dr. Lu, will you be there on time?” Qi Mu asked.

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Yes, thank you, Teacher Qi, I’ve already seen the text notification.”

Qi Mu breathed a sigh of relief: ”That’s good!”

”To be honest, Dr. Lu, among all the positions I notified, only for the position you’re in did only you choose to participate in the subsequent assessment.”

”Oh? Why?” Lu Cheng was a bit surprised.

”Mainly because your preliminary score was too high. Another person voluntarily withdrew, and one was forced to withdraw,” Qi Mu chuckled lightly.

”What does ’forced to withdraw’ mean?” Lu Cheng asked, then realized he was being silly, quickly saying: ”Never mind, Teacher Qi, I’ll be there for the next exams.”

Qi Mu subtly hinted: ”Reporting with real names comes with responsibility.”

Lu Cheng: ”...”

After hanging up, Lu Cheng felt quite helpless.

Lu Cheng had put the phone on speaker, so Mu Nanshu heard the conversation between Lu Cheng and Qi Mu. Mu Nanshu said: ”Seems like everything’s going smoothly!”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Yes, smoother than expected.”

Mu Nanshu said: ”This time the inspection group came down, it seems to work in your favor. Your score, being this prominent, makes many people wary instead.”

Lu Cheng said: ”Whether they’re wary or not doesn’t matter, just having a relatively fair environment is nice.”

”Of course.”

Just as Lu Cheng finished speaking, a call came from Zeng Huanqi.

Lu Cheng paused to take the call, Zeng Huanqi’s voice was urgent: ”Lu Cheng, where are you now?”

”Long County, Yuelu Avenue,” Lu Cheng accurately reported his location.

Zeng Huanqi’s voice was rapid and low: ”You’d better come to the hospital now, your underhanded tactic has arrived.”

Lu Cheng’s expression immediately tensed, glancing at Mu Nanshu: ”You’ll have to go back on your own, someone’s causing trouble for me at the hospital.”
