Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2544: Chapter 2545: Return to Tianyun (111)

”Dad, don’t worry, I will.” Taoming Ye appeared very obedient and agreeable, but in his heart, he had no intention of helping Taoming Hai. He was not the same as before; his wife was not someone who would easily yield. He wanted to align everything with his wife.

Tao Chengyin had no idea that Taoming Ye was secretly cunning. Seeing Taoming Ye saying he would help Taoming Hai in the future, he nodded with particular satisfaction.

Not far away, Su Xing overheard the father-son conversation but pretended not to hear it. Yet she laughed in her heart: My husband knows how to make promises sound good, but he definitely wouldn’t help Taoming Hai~

...

On June 14th, Su Xing entered the exam hall to take the provincial martial exam.

Because the Emperor mentioned her in the main hall, Su Xing attracted attention even before entering the exam hall; inside the hall, she garnered even more attention. Fortunately, Su Xing, as the first young lady of the most prestigious family, the Su Family, in modern times, was always in the spotlight and used to the attention, so she felt no pressure at all.

In contrast, Taoming Hai felt a lot of pressure. The more attention his sister-in-law received and the better she performed, the more pressure he felt.

This time, Su Xing and Taoming Hai were not in the same group, but Taoming Hai couldn’t help but glance towards Su Xing, watching how she performed.

Distracted and stressed, Taoming Hai performed exceptionally poorly.

Su Xing did not perform unusually well, nor extraordinarily; she performed normally. Regardless of whether it was foot archery or horseback archery, every shot was a hit. She continued to draw the hardest bows and lift the heaviest stones, etc.

The provincial exam attracted many people from various counties to take the test. Many had never met Su Xing, but due to her fame, they all wanted to witness whether she truly had skills. Seeing her exam performance, they realized they could not compare to Su Xing. While they were convincingly impressed, they also felt somewhat inferior.

After three days of exams, Su Xing intended to leave quickly. She hurried out of the exam hall to see her husband, who surely was waiting outside, but this time, Su Xing was stopped by the officials supervising the exam.

The officials didn’t say much else but all smiled at her, endlessly repeating, ”Good. Good. Good...”

Once the officials finally cleared the way, Su Xing quickly ran out, immediately exiting the exam hall. Then she saw that not only her husband had come, but even Tao Chengyin was there.

As soon as Tao Chengyin saw Su Xing come out, he hurriedly asked, ”How was the exam? How was it?” He seemed very anxious.

Su Xing felt amused but still replied, ”Anyway, it was just like that. I feel there won’t be any problems, but if you say I’m boasting, I have nothing else to say.”

Tao Chengyin was still not at ease, ”The results haven’t been announced yet; what you say doesn’t count.”

”So, Dad, you’ll have to wait another month. Whether I pass or not, you will finally be at ease,” Su Xing replied with a smile. Over the past year, to be honest, she felt okay, but her father-in-law had not had a good time. His mind was never at ease, always worrying about this and that, making it hard for him to relax.

”Dad, my younger brother has come out. You can chat with him; Xin’er and I will head back first.” Having not seen his wife for three days, Taoming Ye was anxious. After saying this to Tao Chengyin, he pulled his wife onto the carriage.

When Ru Song turned the carriage back to the Huo Mansion, inside the carriage, Taoming Ye and Su Xing embraced, exchanging a kiss. They deeply missed holding each other, longing for her/him.
