Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2530: Chapter 2531: Return to Tianyun (97)

Xin’er...

An Jing and Su Changyi’s hearts both twinged painfully. Their youngest daughter’s nickname was also Xin’er...

Ye Zhi was even more excited: ”I heard the Emperor also promised in the main hall that if she tops the provincial exams next year, he would make an exception to let her become a Martial Imperial Examination Graduate and also have her participate in the palace examination.”

Just as Taoming Ye was about to speak, the waiter brought up the pig head meat he had ordered. Taoming Ye didn’t say much, let Ru Song take the meat and paid for it before he stood up and politely said to Gong Juechen and the others, ”I’m in a hurry to get back, so I’ll be going first.”

After Taoming Ye and Ru Song left the restaurant, Ye Zhi lowered her voice and said, ”I’ve also heard that the person Huo Xiner is marrying is an illegitimate eldest son, so if he’s Huo Xiner’s husband, wouldn’t he be the illegitimate eldest son of the Tao Mansion?”

”An illegitimate eldest son...” Gong Juechen stroked his chin, elongating his words meaningfully, ”I somewhat understand why he might be...” He didn’t finish his sentence, but An Jing and the others all understood.

Taoming Ye is the illegitimate eldest son, and he was poisoned shortly after birth, which was most likely done by the current mistress of the Tao Mansion.

”We shouldn’t speculate without evidence. It wouldn’t be good to hurt someone by mistake.” An Jing said cautiously.

Ye Zhi also agreed that it was not good to speculate and speak without evidence, so she stopped talking. Seeing Ye Zhi not continuing, Gong Juechen naturally didn’t bring up the matter either.

As for Su Changyi, from start to finish, he did not express any opinion on the matter.

As soon as Taoming Ye and Ru Song left the restaurant, they saw his wife coming to find him.

”Husband!” The moment Su Xing saw Taoming Ye, she hurried over to him.

Taoming Ye also quickly walked towards Su Xing, with an expression that was incredibly gentle: ”Xin’er, why did you come here?”

”You are talking about me! Didn’t I tell you not to go out? Why did you come out again?” Su Xing was a bit annoyed, but she was more concerned about his health.

”I came to buy pig head meat for you. This restaurant, don’t you like their food a lot?” Taoming Ye pointed to the restaurant he had just come out from.

”As long as you’re okay, I don’t even need to eat this. Look at you, your face is so pale.” Su Xing was heartbroken. ”Besides, even if you see me wanting to eat it, you don’t have to come and buy it yourself. You could just let a servant from home buy it for you. It’s really not necessary to come personally.”

”It’s different if they buy it and if I buy it.”

Su Xing immediately smiled, feeling sweet inside. He indulges her, knowing what she wants to eat and buying it for her, which naturally makes her happy. But she is also truly worried about his health.

However, before she could say anything, he spoke again: ”It’s good for me to come out for a walk too. Luckily, the Huo Mansion isn’t far from these places, and I don’t have to endure the bumps of a carriage. I’m truly fine, don’t worry.”

He took her hand and started walking back towards the Huo Mansion, saying, ”Let’s go back, by the time we reach home, the meat should still be warm.”

He paused, ”If I knew you were coming to find me, I wouldn’t have taken it home. Eating the meat at the restaurant would be more authentic. And I just met that old man I encountered last time. That old man is really strange, so old yet acting so frivolous, without any formality. There’s also another old man, even more strange; I’ve met him twice, and never seen a change in his expression, acting as if he’s the only person in the world. Though, he is quite imposing and doesn’t invite disrespect.”
