Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2506: Chapter 2507: Return to Tianyun (73)

”Yes, yes.” Everyone present, except for Taoming Ye, was in agreement. Some were sincere, some not.

However, Su Xing didn’t care.

Su Xing just glanced at her husband, then said to Tao Chengyin, ”Dad, I’m definitely going to participate in the provincial exam next year, and I will do well. It’s just that my courtyard is too small for exam preparation, and I can’t practice properly. I lived at my maternal home for a long time before, and you know, that was to prepare for the exam because there’s a huge training ground there. It’s where I practiced martial arts every day as a girl. It was built when my father was granted the General’s residence, and it has everything. I would like to return there after registering for next year’s provincial exam to prepare.”

”Don’t wait until next year. Go back to your maternal home next month to prepare well for the provincial exam,” Tao Chengyin immediately said. ”This exam is too important; it concerns the reputation of our family. But going back to your maternal home bothers your in-laws... How about this, I’ll prepare some gifts and personally visit with you, to ask your in-laws to kindly let you stay there for a year.”

”Thank you, Dad!” Su Xing was very happy. It’s better to practice more for this exam. It’s like a sniper rifle; if you don’t handle it for a while, you start to feel rusty. You have to practice shooting targets regularly.

Tao Chengyin, with a smile, chatted with Su Xing, then turned to a young servant and said, ”Set the food here; we’ll have dinner here, and bring a good pot of wine. Everyone who can drink should have a glass, as we’re all in high spirits today.”

”Yes, Master!”

Mrs. Cao noticed that only her son and daughter-in-law were missing from the dinner table. Everyone was happy and felt proud because Su Xing had gained recognition from the Emperor, but Mrs. Cao had no appetite, though she still ate a little.

She was always adept at maintaining appearances.

Unfortunately, her daughter-in-law never understood this.

If this Huo Xiner becomes a Martial Champion, Mrs. Cao wouldn’t be surprised if she regretted it. Huo Xiner was supposed to marry her son, and it was she and her son who arranged for her to marry Taoming Ye instead.

After dinner, when people had dispersed, Su Xing embraced Taoming Ye with a smile, saying, ”Husband, your father likes me more and more.”

Taoming Ye lowered his head and kissed Su Xing, ”My wife is just so likable.”

”That’s not it. It’s because I made your father proud.”

Taoming Ye pulled Su Xing to sit down, in disbelief he said, ”I really didn’t expect it; it even caught the attention of the Emperor.” Then he smiled, a tender smile, ”My wife is really impressive. It’s just an exam, yet it’s so splendid.”

Su Xing merely giggled, tilting her small face up with a silly look, and said, ”Husband, I don’t want to be that splendid. Right now, I just want you to kiss me.”

Seeing Su Xing was a little different today, with a red face, Taoming Ye was a bit helpless, ”I told you to drink less, but you still got drunk.”

”I’m not drunk, I’m perfectly sober.”

Taoming Ye found it amusing, gently touched her face, and said with good humor, ”All drunkards say they’re not drunk.” He also noticed she was quite happy today, not refusing anyone’s toasts.

”I’m really not drunk!” Su Xing refused to admit it, stood up, and kissed Taoming Ye on the lips, saying with a giggle, ”See, I just kissed you, how could I be drunk?”

What does one have to do with the other?

Taoming Ye found it even more amusing, but he still stood up, took Su Xing by the hand, and led her to the bed, letting Su Xing lie down to sleep.
