Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2519: Chapter 2520: Return to Tianyun (86)

Su Changyi remained expressionless.

However, seeing An Jing sigh, Jing Xing Qing Yun Qilin Zhi hurriedly said, ”Father, Mother, don’t listen to Mu Cheng Bro. If you want to retire here, just stay here. As long as you are happy, we, as your sons, will not only be happy but also relieved.”

”Mother knows your filial piety.” An Jing, gratified, looked at her seven sons one by one. Then she turned to Su Muchen and smiled, ”Muchen, let me and your uncle think it over. Since you’re here, I assume you’ve arranged for someone to handle the national matters.”

”Yes, Imperial Aunt.” After a pause, ”Imperial Aunt, the truth is, Muchen genuinely wants to show filial piety to you.”

”Both your uncle and I understand.” An Jing nodded kindly. When they first met Su Muchen, he was only nine years old. Now Su Muchen is forty-six; they have known each other for almost forty years. They are well aware of how Su Muchen treats them.

If he didn’t truly consider them as family, would Su Muchen still hope that their sons would go back to the Imperial City to help govern the affairs of the state? He would likely be eager to hold all the power himself without letting go.

Then An Jing turned to her eldest son, Su Yi Jing, and said, ”Jing’er, your Mu Cheng Bro came all the way here, he must be tired, quickly prepare a room for him to rest.”

”Yes, Mother.”

After Su Muchen and her seven sons left, only she and her husband remained in the room. An Jing grasped one of Su Changyi’s hands and softly asked, ”Husband, what are you thinking?”

”Thinking of what you think.”

An Jing immediately smiled, ”This place is wonderful, but nothing compares to a family reunion. Muchen isn’t wrong.” At this point, she sighed again, ”Over the years, we’ve been selfish. Our children only know how to show filial piety to us. They agree when they see we wish to retire, and all want to serve us, without caring whether that means separating from their spouses.”

Su Changyi turned his hand over to hold hers.

An Jing continued, ”Muchen is right about another thing: they not only have the responsibility to serve us but also to help govern Tianyun. They are not just our sons; they are also the princes of Tianyun, especially Jing’er, the future King of Tianyun.”

If it weren’t for Su Yi Jing’s absolute refusal, Su Changyi would have long passed the Tianyun throne to Su Yi Jing.

Su Yi Jing insists wholeheartedly that as long as his father is alive, he is the King of Tianyun for every day he lives, and no one can take his father’s throne! Not even himself!

”They also bear the weight of Tianyun.” An Jing sighed once more. ”Tianyun is peaceful and stable now, but there’s no guarantee there won’t be trouble in the future. It requires a proper ruler to manage it well. Compared to all the citizens of Tianyun, what do we count for? Our retirement counts for nothing.”

Su Changyi also sighed, gripping An Jing’s hand tighter, ”Then let’s go to the Imperial City.”

An Jing immediately nodded, ”Mm-hmm.” After a pause, ”Later, I’ll ask Ye Zi Se Se if they are willing. If they are, we’ll all go back. Our Royal Palace is large, and they each have their own residences in the Imperial City, so there’s room for us there as well.”

”Mm.”

”Besides, we’re of such an age now that we can’t exactly go touring the mountains and waters anymore. The Royal Palace has its own landscapes and gardens. If we’re idle, we can tend to them just like we do here.”

”Mm.”
