Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2523: Chapter 2524: Return to Tianyun (90)

An Yiqi, meanwhile, walked over to his own wife—Qi Jiaoqiao.

Seeing that Lu Moran was pregnant, An Jing and Su Changyi also got out of the carriage.

Looking at Lu Moran’s already rounded belly, An Jing said apologetically, ”It’s your father and me who are at fault, insisting on going into seclusion. Otherwise you wouldn’t have had to keep your pregnancy from Zhier.”

Lu Moran immediately said, ”Mother, no, it was that I didn’t want to tell An Yizhi; it has nothing to do with you and Father.”

”You didn’t want to tell him, so you kept it from us as well?” An Jing countered, then smiled and took her hand. ”You don’t need to explain, I understand everything. Jing’er and the others are all here serving me and your father. You didn’t want Zhier to have to come to the Imperial City to look after you because you were pregnant, and be unable to serve me and your father. Truly, we understand. Though you’re not often at our side, we know you’re a filial child, and a sensible one. It’s just that something this big—don’t ever hide it again. It’s lucky we came; otherwise we wouldn’t have known until after you’d given birth.”

”Yes, Mother.” Lu Moran answered softly and respectfully.

”Come, you’re with child, don’t stand here. Get in the carriage, let’s go home. From now on this Royal Palace is our home.” An Jing held Lu Moran’s hand and helped her into the carriage.

An Yizhi was even more careful at the side, afraid Lu Moran might bump into something. Although Lu Moran didn’t say anything to An Yizhi, when he reached out to support her, she instead clasped his hand in return.

Her feelings had always been expressed in a reserved way.

Even so, An Yizhi’s face immediately lit up with a full smile. He knew what kind of person his wife was; for her to respond like this was already more than enough for him.

Once An Jing and the others had gotten back into the carriage, the carriage entered the Royal Palace.

Su Muchen had returned to the Imperial City half a month earlier. Learning that An Jing and the others had arrived in the Imperial City today, he immediately brought his wife and sons and daughters to pay respects to An Jing and Su Changyi.

Su Muye, Su Muxue, Su Muyu and the others also all brought their own families to pay respects to An Jing and Su Changyi.

The other members of the royal clan also came one after another to pay respects.

The civil and military officials all came as well, intending to kneel to this king and queen; however, An Jing and Su Changyi only received Wang Youbao, the Prime Minister, and did not see any of the other officials.

Li Wuyu, Du Aya, Qi Gaoda, Liu Buli, Liu Feifei, Qi Tengfei and the others came to kneel the second day after An Jing’s return to the Imperial City. An Jing and Su Changyi received all the acquaintances, and not a single unfamiliar person.

Over the next few days, the assembled ministers repeatedly submitted memorials, hoping that Su Changyi, this King, would attend court together with Su Muchen, this Emperor. They had not seen a king and an emperor seated together in the great hall for a long time. In their memory, it was back when Su Chengyu, that Emperor, was still alive, that he and Su Changyi, this King, had once sat together. Many officials had since been replaced; those officials had never seen it even once.

Su Muchen also urged Su Changyi to attend court.

But Su Changyi still did not go; the powers that still belonged to him as King he continued to let his eldest son, Su Yi Jing, exercise.

And with Su Changyi not attending court, no one could force him. After all, in Tianyun right now, he was the highest authority.

Although Su Muchen was the Emperor, he still had to address him as Imperial Uncle.

Jing Xing, Qing Yun, Qilin, and Zhi had all returned to the Imperial City. An Yiyun’s health was not very good; if he could help a little, he would, and if he couldn’t, so be it. By now he no longer minded his own poor health much. As for Su Yi Jing and the others, they each fulfilled their respective duties, assisting Su Muchen in governing Tianyun together.
