Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2540: Chapter 2541: Return to Tianyun (107)

These past two days, Lu Moran no longer felt unwell, and everyone finally set their minds at ease, so today they decided to leave the palace.

Previously, Gong Jue Chen said that the medicine wouldn’t cause any harm to Taoming Ye’s body; in fact, Ye Zhi never really worried about him. She had quite a bit of confidence in her husband.

Now, hearing Huo Xiner say the medicine was effective for Taoming Ye, Ye Zhi felt relieved and said, ”It’s good that the tonic works. But as for the recipe and so forth, I can’t decide. You’ll have to ask my husband about it.”

Actually, Ye Zhi could make the decision to give away the recipe if she really wanted to, and Gong Jue Chen would follow her wishes. But since the medicine was crafted by Gong Jue Chen himself, she preferred to let him decide.

Su Xing immediately turned to Gong Jue Chen, ”Grandpa Gong, why don’t you sell us that tonic recipe? Really, any price is fine!”

Gong Jue Chen’s eyes sparkled, ”Really, any price is fine?”

”Yes, yes.” After a pause, Su Xing felt slightly embarrassed, ”Of course, preferably within our means. If it’s too much, we would have to borrow from others.”

Ye Zhi saw Gong Jue Chen clearly intending to make a large profit and nudged him from behind, advising him not to go overboard. Profiting from others’ misfortune is truly not the act of a gentleman.

Gong Jue Chen initially wanted to ask for a hefty sum, but seeing Zhizhi’s dissatisfaction, he reconsidered, ”If you give me fifty thousand taels, I’ll give you the recipe immediately.”

Ye Zhi: ”...” Isn’t this considered asking for a hefty sum?

Su Xing readily agreed, ”Deal, deal. Hong Ye, quickly go to my room and bring a silver note worth fifty thousand taels.”

Seeing Su Xing agree so readily, it was clear they had more than fifty thousand taels in cash. Gong Jue Chen looked rather wistfully at Ye Zhi, ”Did I ask for too little?”

Ye Zhi: ”...”

Hong Ye hadn’t yet brought the fifty thousand taels when Taoming Ye arrived first. Upon seeing Gong Jue Chen and Ye Zhi, he politely greeted them, ”Grandpa Gong, Grandma Gong.”

Ye Zhi noticed his complexion had improved significantly and smiled, ”You seem to be in better health.”

Taoming Ye replied, ”Thanks to Grandpa Gong and Grandma Gong.”

Gong Jue Chen playfully supported Taoming Ye, discreetly feeling his pulse while laughingly saying, ”Your wife was very generous, buying the recipe from me for fifty thousand taels. Luckily, my son gave me the recipe yesterday, saying he’s been quite busy lately and wanted me to start preparing it for him to try. Now the recipe is perfect to sell to you, and I’ll ask him for it again later—he’s sure to have more copies.”

Looking at it from a merchant’s standpoint, the recipe was somewhat expensive, but as it was bought by his wife to treat his health, Taoming Ye didn’t feel the slightest reluctance, instead finding it quite gratifying.

Taoming Ye smiled warmly and said, ”My family has spent so many years nourishing me, costing more than fifty thousand taels yet achieving nothing; now, this medicine is actually effective, making the fifty thousand taels well spent. Of course, I must thank Grandpa Gong and Grandma Gong for the previous bottle of medicine, otherwise, I genuinely thought my health would remain that way. Now my complexion has improved significantly, allowing my wife to be more at ease.”

As he spoke, Taoming Ye cast a tender glance at Su Xing.

Taoming Ye, Su Xing, and Ye Zhi did not notice Gong Jue Chen slightly furrowing his brow before releasing his hold on Taoming Ye. He chuckled, ”This is only a tonic, and you don’t know what illness it might be. While it does help your body somewhat, I believe it might not be able to completely restore your health.”
