Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2527: Chapter 2528: Return to Tianyun (94)

”Whose child is that, and how did they get poisoned?” Ye Zhi looked curiously in the direction Taoming Ye had left.

She was almost sixty years old, and this person might not even be twenty, so to her, they were really just a child.

”How would I know.” Gong Juechen grinned cheekily.

”What poison are they afflicted with, can you cure it?” Ye Zhi asked again.

Gong Juechen replied, ”Even if I knew what poison it was, you wouldn’t understand, but even if I did know, I wouldn’t cure it. Star’s medical skills are way better than mine now, so maybe she could cure it, but that’s uncertain.”

When Ye Zhi heard he couldn’t cure it, and Su Yixing might not be able to either, she stopped meddling: ”Never mind then, let’s ignore him. You quickly push through and buy me some sticky rice cakes, buy more.”

”Why push through? There’s no need to.” Gong Juechen pulled out a silver note worth one hundred taels from his robe and shouted to the crowd gathered at the shop’s window, ”Who lost a hundred taels? If no one claims it, I’ll keep it myself!”

The people immediately swarmed toward Gong Juechen, all shouting, ”Mine! Mine! It’s mine!”

Gong Juechen gave Ye Zhi a smug smile, then stuffed the hundred taels into Su Changyi’s hand.

”You guys can claim it from him.”

Having said this, Gong Juechen bypassed the crowd to buy nian gao.

Everyone went to Su Changyi to claim the hundred taels, leaving the shop window empty, and Gong Juechen easily bought the sticky rice cakes, with a variety of flavors.

When he returned with bags of sticky rice cakes, he saw Su Changyi looking at him with a sour face.

Gong Juechen immediately grinned, ”To buy nian gao for your wife and my wife, I couldn’t be the only one to sacrifice, right? You had to sacrifice a little too.”

He sacrificed a hundred taels, while Su Changyi had been harassed by the crowd to the point of almost losing his temper. In the end, Su Changyi threw the hundred taels away, and whoever grabbed it would own it, so technically, Su Changyi sacrificed too.

An Jing found it amusing but still smoothed things over and said, ”Husband, I really want to taste them too.”

Only then did Su Changyi’s expression soften, and he stopped looking angry.

Gong Juechen, like he was presenting a treasure, said to Ye Zhi, ”Zhizhi, I bought some of every flavor, see which you want to try?”

Hearing this, Ye Zhi happily replied, ”That’s great, let’s find a teahouse to sit in, enjoy some tea and try these.”

An Jing and the others had no objections.

Once they were seated in a private room by the window on the second floor of a teahouse, Ye Zhi eagerly took the sticky rice cakes from Gong Juechen, opened each paper package, and laid them out on the table.

Ye Zhi picked up a jujube sticky rice cake and took a bite, savoring the taste, then immediately praised, ”Not too sweet, not too sticky, and not too chewy either. The flavor is just right and there’s a fresh fragrance. It’s really unlike anything I’ve tasted before. Boss, you should try it too, it’s really delicious.”

An Jing took the red bean sticky rice cake from Su Changyi, tasted it, and praised it as well, urging Su Changyi to try it.

Su Changyi picked up a raisin sticky rice cake, tasted it, and found it truly excellent, nodding in approval.

Gong Juechen, without needing any prompting, casually took a piece and threw it into his mouth. He’s tasted good things before and also bad ones, but he’s indifferent to how they taste as long as his Zhizhi is happy.
