Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2526: Chapter 2527: Return to Tianyun (93)

An Jing and the others looked in the direction of the voice, only to see a man dressed as a servant protecting a gentle young gentleman in moon-white elegant clothing, struggling to push through the crowd.

The gentle young gentleman looked very handsome, but his face was too pale, and he was constantly coughing, clearly indicating poor health.

Although Ru Song shouted loudly, no one made way for him. He barely managed to get his young master out of the crowd, then urgently asked, ”Young master, are you alright? Young master?”

Oh dear, his master looked as if he was going to die. If he went back like this, he wouldn’t be spared a beating from their young mistress.

Before Taoming Ye could speak, Ru Song hurriedly said, ”I told you not to come out! The young mistress will definitely skin me alive! Why did you insist on coming yourself?!”

After a long coughing fit, Taoming Ye was finally able to speak. He knew Ru Song was worried about him, so he wasn’t upset with Ru Song’s disrespect. He simply smiled weakly and said, ”Yesterday, I heard her telling Hong Ye that she’s craving this, so I came to buy it.”

”There was no need for you to come and buy it yourself! It would have been better if you sent me to buy it!”

”When buying something for my wife, of course, it’s best to do it myself. How could I let you do this?” Looking down at the paper package in his hand, inside was the glutinous rice cake he had just bought himself. It looked fine, not deformed at all from the crowd. Taoming Ye felt relieved, then said, ”Alright, stop talking about it. Let’s hurry back. We didn’t tell her we were going out. If she finds out I’m not there, she’ll surely be worried.”

”You know the young mistress would be worried, yet you still came out!” Despite saying this, Ru Song still supported Taoming Ye and headed back in the direction of the Huo Mansion.

Luckily, the shop wasn’t far from the Huo family. They could walk back. Otherwise, if they took a carriage, and it jolted, his master might really not make it.

As they passed by An Jing and the others, Taoming Ye suddenly stumbled, his legs giving way, and he fell down.

”Careful!” An Jing and Ye Zhi didn’t have time to help, but Gong Juechen quickly supported him.

Actually, Gong Juechen didn’t intend to help. But seeing his wife trying to help, he didn’t want her touching another man, so he stepped in. Subconsciously, he checked the pulse of the sickly man he caught. It was purely instinctive, given how much of his life had been spent in the medical field.

However, after taking the man’s pulse, he was startled, but he didn’t say anything.

Gong Juechen and Ru Song helped Taoming Ye stand properly again.

”Thank you, sir.” After being assisted, Taoming Ye politely thanked Gong Juechen.

”No worries, just lending a hand.” Gong Juechen grinned cheekily, but behind his smiling eyes, he sharply observed the person in front of him.

Eager to take the glutinous rice cake back as soon as possible, Taoming Ye thanked Gong Juechen again before Ru Song helped him leave.

Even after Taoming Ye had left, Gong Juechen still looked thoughtfully at Taoming Ye’s departing figure.

”What are you looking at? His wife craved something and he came to buy it despite not being well. You should go buy for me too!” Ye Zhi said.

”Zhizhi, why are you rushing? I promise to buy it for you. But that person...” Gong Juechen gestured with his chin towards Taoming Ye, who had already walked far away, ”His ill health is because he’s poisoned.”

”Poisoned?!” Ye Zhi and An Jing were shocked.

Su Changyi was also somewhat surprised, but since he seldom showed his emotions, he still appeared expressionless.
