Chapter 2512: Chapter 2513: Return to Tianyun (79)

...

On this day, after hosting the official ladies who had come to find her, Su Xing asked Tao Mingxiang and Tao Mingfang to return home, and Su Xing did not go to any other place but directly returned to the courtyard where she and Taoming Ye lived.

As soon as she saw Taoming Ye, Su Xing smiled at him and said, ”Husband, today when I took those official ladies to the garden to enjoy the flowers, we ran into Wan Banyan. Wan Banyan’s nose was so crooked with anger, yet she had to force out a smile and laugh with us, haha...”

Taoming Ye took advantage of the situation to wrap his arm around her waist, letting her sit beside him, and he said with a gentle smile, ”These days, I bet my second brother’s nose is also crooked with anger.”

Su Xing immediately added, ”And Mrs. Cao!”

Taoming Ye pinched her little face as she leaned in, then kissed her lips and said, ”Father said he will take the day off the day after tomorrow and visit your mother’s family, asking grandma to let us intrude for nearly a year.”

The day after tomorrow is the eighth day of August.

”Finally, the date is set. I thought he was so happy that he forgot,” Su Xing said with a giggle. Because the Emperor had spoken about her in the grand hall, it led to her father-in-law having more social engagements recently, and many officials who didn’t visit often before were now frequently associating with her father-in-law.

Originally she was supposed to take her husband back to her mother’s home on the first of August, but her father-in-law insisted on visiting to make the request first, and because he has been busy recently, it was postponed until the day after tomorrow.

Taoming Ye said with a smile, ”He wouldn’t forget; this is a big matter. He is still hoping you will bring our Tao family honor.”

”I was just joking, and you took it seriously? You’re not allowed to take it seriously!” Su Xing puffed her cheeks, pretending to be angry as she spoke.

Taoming Ye remained silent, only offering a gentle smile as his hand reached out to squeeze her cheek.

With that squeeze, Su Xing’s puffed-up cheeks deflated, and she immediately laughed, saying, ”Husband, you always know how to handle me~”

Taoming Ye still gently held her in his arms.

Su Xing embraced him in return.

Both felt just one thing: life was getting more and more beautiful.

...

On the eighth day of August, as Tao Chengyin hadn’t yet headed out to the Huo family, a Young Servant came to report that Duke of Liu had arrived.

Tao Chengyin hurried out to greet him.

A stick of incense later, someone came to Taoming Ye’s courtyard, urgently saying to Taoming Ye and Su Xing, ”Young Master, Young Mistress, please hurry to the study, the Master and Duke of Liu are waiting for you there.”

When Taoming Ye and Su Xing entered the study, they saw Liu Buli with a stern face looking very displeased, while Tao Chengyin accompanied him with a dry laugh, not knowing what to say.

”Duke, Father.” As Taoming Ye and Su Xing approached the two, they greeted them.

Liu Buli glanced at the sickly Taoming Ye before looking at Su Xing. As his gaze fell on Su Xing, his expression softened, and he smiled at her, saying, ”Xin Girl, do you remember me?”

Su Xing replied sincerely, ”I remember you, Duke. It’s just that I was too young back then to remember your appearance clearly.”

Liu Buli laughed, saying, ”Back then you used to call me ’Uncle, Uncle,’ how come now you call me Duke?”

Su Xing answered politely, ”I was young and ignorant at the time; please forgive me, Duke.”

”Alas.” Seeing Su Xing’s polite and cautious demeanor, afraid of saying something wrong, Liu Buli sighed heavily. Then, he put on his stern face again and said, ”I’ve visited the Huo family, and I was puzzled. Back then, Bupaiming told me that his daughter was to marry the legitimate son of Master Tao; you should be the second daughter-in-law, not the first daughter-in-law.”
