Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2532: Chapter 2533: Return to Tianyun (99)

She still focused all her attention on his health, and Taoming Ye was very moved. He didn’t want to hide anything from her any longer, so he said, ”Listen to me carefully. Some parts might upset you, but that was all before I realized how much we would love each other.”

Seeing the worry on his face, Su Xing quickly said, ”Go ahead and speak, I’m very understanding as your wife. I won’t get angry.”

Since his own wife said so and he could see that she was sincere, Taoming Ye was no longer so worried and began to speak, ”When my mother was alive, she was always bullied by Mrs. Cao in secret. But my mother never told my father about it. I couldn’t stand it, so I hoped one day to break away from the Tao family and live alone with my mother. So, I secretly sold the good things I got and used the money either to quietly buy fields or to lend to people in urgent need of money, which not only got me the principal back but also a lot of interest.”

”But who knew? Just when I had figured out a way to take my mother away from the Tao family, she suddenly died.”

”In the past, I couldn’t tell you, but now I won’t hide a single word from you. I don’t believe my mother died suddenly without a reason. I am sure it was Mrs. Cao who killed her.”

”I also don’t believe that I got sick on my own. Clearly, when I was born, the doctor said I was very healthy, but not long after, my health declined. I also suspect it’s Mrs. Cao’s doing. After all, as the legitimate eldest son, no matter how generous Mrs. Cao is, I am a thorn in her side.”

”After my mother died so suspiciously, I gave up the idea of leaving the Tao family and stayed, hoping to secretly find evidence of Mrs. Cao’s guilt in harming my mother and me.”

”But Mrs. Cao’s methods of harm are incredibly high. To this day, I still haven’t figured out how my mother died or what illness I have.”

”Every time Mrs. Cao gave me medicine, I kept a bit of it and had Ru Song take it out to other doctors. Those doctors all said the medicine was fine and was just ordinary medicine for body nourishment. I also tested it with a silver needle and found nothing wrong. Yet, my health continues to deteriorate.”

”Outwardly, I went along with Mrs. Cao and everyone in the Tao family. When Lady Tao and Taoming Hai wanted me to marry you, I did. At the time, I thought, it’s just marrying a woman, at most I’ll figure out a way to manage later. But when I saw you in the bridal chamber, you were so different, always thinking of me, wanting to protect me. I slowly changed my mind and felt I had married a treasure.”

”That’s everything. Once I started hiding things, I didn’t know how to open up about them. Fortunately, you asked today, or I wouldn’t know how long I would keep this from you.”

”About where I got the money, although I no longer lend money to others to earn high interest, before my mother passed away, I had already made quite a bit. With that money, I opened several cloth shops. After several years, I now have over twenty cloth shops, and ten thousand acres of fertile land, all of which I’ve rented out. Ru Song collects the rent and the money from the cloth shops. I only need to occasionally check the accounts Ru Song brings back to make sure they are accurate.”

He paused and continued, ”More than half of the Tao family’s servants are actually my people.”

Having shared everything with her, and with him being so wealthy, Su Xing was not happy at all and said feebly, ”Husband, I don’t like you being like this one bit.”
