Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2541: Chapter 2542: Return to Tianyun (108)

Taoming Ye nodded: ”I know this as well, but as long as my body gets a little better, it’s good. It also makes me feel more at ease, and those who worry about me will worry less.”

Ye Zhi sincerely said, ”You should see a doctor again.”

Taoming Ye gave a bitter smile but said nothing.

It was Su Xing who spoke up: ”Many doctors have examined him, even the Imperial Physicians have tried, but they all couldn’t figure out what illness he had. In the past, he took some random medicines to nourish his body, but they didn’t help, so he stopped. It’s really thanks to Grandpa Gong and Grandma Gong’s medicine this time; otherwise, my husband would still be the way he was before.”

Regarding the prescription, Su Xing thought they should pay for it; not paying would make the gratitude too immense. It would be better to pay, like a transaction, making it easier to settle the debt.

So, when Hong Ye brought over fifty thousand taels, Su Xing gave it to Gong Juechen, who immediately handed the silver note to Ye Zhi, and then took out a piece of paper from his pocket—the prescription—and gave it to Su Xing.

Su Xing opened the prescription to take a look and saw that the herbs listed were particularly precious, which made her even more grateful for the bottle of medicine they had previously given them.

Taoming Ye also looked at the herbs and was very grateful. If they were ordinary people, they couldn’t afford it, and even if they did, they’d be reluctant to use it. It must be that Grandpa Gong and Grandma Gong’s family are particularly wealthy to be able to afford such good medicine, and they even consume it regularly.

Immediately, Su Xing and Taoming Ye wanted to invite Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen to stay for a meal, but this time, Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen did not eat.

Su Xing and Taoming Ye insisted on inviting them multiple times, but Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen remained firm in their refusal, so Su Xing and Taoming Ye gave up.

”Grandpa Gong and Grandma Gong, because your medicine worked for my husband, I was afraid that once he finished it, he would run out, so a few days ago, I went out to look for you. In the Imperial City, there are indeed two families with the surname Gong, but it’s not yours,” Su Xing confessed frankly.

Ye Zhi laughed and said, ”Our residence is very hidden, so you won’t be able to find it. And don’t expect us to tell you where we live. We have our reasons for keeping it a secret. However, if we’re meant to meet again, we will. That’s a very true saying.”

Seeing that Ye Zhi clearly wasn’t going to reveal where they lived, Su Xing and Taoming Ye didn’t press further.

Besides, as Grandma Gong said, if destiny allows, they will meet again.

After chatting a while longer, Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen left the Huo family.

Seeing that Ye Zhi and the others had left, Su Xing instructed Ru Song to take the money and prescription to the medical hall to get the medicine prepared.

Once Ru Song had left, Taoming Ye said to Su Xing, ”Xin’er, I feel like I’m going to eat our family into poverty.”

The medicine is really too expensive; preparing it once costs at least ten thousand taels. If this continues long-term, the family really might be eaten into poverty by him.

Su Xing, however, was not too concerned: ”It’s alright, as long as it helps your health, it’s all worth it. Besides, we can still earn money; it’s not like we’ll sit idle and await starvation.”

Even though he knew his wife didn’t mind him potentially eating the family into poverty, hearing her say it out loud still made Taoming Ye very happy.

...

Meanwhile, once they were far enough from the Huo family, Ye Zhi asked, ”His complexion has truly improved a lot, but honestly, I don’t believe for a moment that you could resolve the poison in his body in one go.”

Gong Juechen laughed, ”It’s right that you don’t believe. I was just giving it a try.”

It’s right that you don’t believe...

Ye Zhi immediately caught the key point: ”So, you’re saying that the medicine only acts on the surface, and doesn’t actually affect the poison?”
