Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2508: Chapter 2509: Return to Tianyun (75)

Taoming Ye immediately smiled tenderly at Su Xing, saying, ”Look at his mouth. I just asked him why he came over today, and he’s already gossiping about me.”

Su Xing put down her needle and thread, feigning anger as she spoke to Taoming Sheng and Tao Mingqing, ”Don’t tease your elder brother. His health isn’t good. If he gets too upset, I won’t forgive you!”

Taoming Sheng and Tao Mingqing, also jesting, pretended to be flustered upon seeing Su Xing act angry, hurriedly stood up, and with exaggerated fear, bowed deeply to Taoming Ye while singing, ”Big brother, big brother, please take care of your health, please don’t be angry. Sister-in-law’s prowess will make sure we won’t survive if we upset you, but we’d like to live long lives!”

This amused the servant girl Redleaf.

Taoming Ye, nearly laughing himself into a stitch, got off the kang, pulling over his two good younger brothers and gave them a playful smack. Naturally, he didn’t use much force.

Taoming Sheng and Tao Mingqing knew their big brother was just playing around, allowing him to ”hit” them while they smoothly sat beside their elder brother on the kang, grinning as they nestled him in the middle.

On one side of the small kang table sat Su Xing; on the other side, there’s Tao Mingqing, Taoming Ye, and Taoming Sheng lined up.

Despite being born out of wedlock, even if not from the same mother, over the years, Tao Mingqing and the others had maintained a good relationship with Taoming Ye, so they could jest around. Before Su Xing married in, Tao Mingqing and the others often visited to chat with Big Brother Taoming Ye, alleviating his boredom.

As for their relationship with Taoming Hai, it was much worse. Firstly, because of the difference between legitimate and illegitimate births, and secondly, because Taoming Hai genuinely looked down on these brothers. Naturally, they didn’t care much for Taoming Hai, their second brother.

But with Taoming Ye as their elder brother, also being a Commons Son, and having an exceptionally good temperament without competing for anything, they felt much closer to him.

Now with a capable sister-in-law added, they were even more inclined to visit Elder Brother Taoming Ye’s courtyard.

Su Xing also nearly laughed into a stitch, ”It’s such a pity you aren’t performing opera. Look at how well you sing, better than those actors!”

Taoming Sheng laughed and said, ”We’re just playing around, Sister-in-law, you take us seriously. But, if you actually become the top scholar next year, maybe our father will be delighted enough to hire an opera troupe to perform for several days.”

Su Xing laughed heartily, ”If Father does that, well, it’s not my money being spent, so I won’t feel any pain.”

Everyone in the room laughed again at this.

Once the laughter finally subsided, Su Xing turned to Hong Ye and said, ”Is the Crystal Cake ready? If it’s done, bring it over, so the Third Young Master and Fifth Young Master can try it.”

Hong Ye quickly went to fetch the Crystal Cake.

Tao Mingqing said, ”It’s just Crystal Cake, not some rare delicacy. Sister-in-law, why do you act like we’ve never had it before?”

Taoming Ye gently tapped Tao Mingqing on the head, causing Tao Mingqing to instantly flatteringly change his tune: ”No matter what it is, if it’s from Big Brother and Sister-in-law, it’s definitely something precious.”

Su Xing couldn’t help but laugh, ”It’s not really anything precious, just this Crystal Cake is made a bit differently from what you’ve had before. It’s got osmanthus and green plum in it — try it, though I can’t guarantee you’ll find it tasty since everyone has different tastes.”

Taoming Sheng and Tao Mingqing both immediately laughed, ”Then we definitely have to savor it well.”
