Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 586: Chapter 384: Fight to the Death! The Choice of the Radiant Knights Order

”That Deputy Commander, named Aurthezia, right?” Hill slowly began to ask, ”Did she go to protect the common people or the children?”

”The Radiant Knights Order, all the still living Legendary Knights, are all here,” William said coldly. ”That Steven, who lost his horse, isn’t here either.

The few knights who were especially offended by Spencer’s words managed to have two survive.

It’s very normal for there to be sacrifices when the Radiant Knights Order were able to protect hundreds, even thousands of children during such chaos.

As the Deputy Commander, Aurthezia would have been in charge of daily affairs, she might have been involved in an incident while protecting the children.

And that Steven, must have gone to bear witness. During the uprising, she didn’t even have a horse, and she might not have even been in armor.”

Life is always like this; Aurthezia was probably the one most alert to the matter of spies within the Radiant Knights Order, and she might have been one of the first knights to realize what was happening after the riot broke out.

However, her valiant combat only meant that she faced the greatest number of enemies.

Hill quietly sighed, clenched his fists, and placed them in front of his forehead to offer blessings for the valiant spirits of these two female knights.

He could understand the passings of other Radiant Knights; when they disregarded the situation, their fates were sealed.

But it was different for these two ladies; they must have been the most vigilant, yet they chose not to flee.

In the Royal Palace hall, there was only silence, even William did not wish to say more.

Although the deeds of the Radiant Knights Order were self-inflicted, as a knight, he could still understand their sorrow.

To trust one’s comrades is something many knights learn at the outset, yet most people limit this trust to comrade within their circle of recognition.

Yet the Radiant Knights Order lived under an oppressive force for hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of years, so it’s somewhat understandable that some might live like the foolish protagonists of knight novels.

The Radiant Knights Order sat astride their horses, turned to face the main entrance of the palace, thrust out their swords, and struck their own shields hard.

They paid homage on horseback.

Those two knights who had been very dissatisfied with Spencer’s words took out a small dagger and slashed a cut on each of their cheeks; they held no shields in their hands, simply carrying long lances.

They intended to serve as the spearhead in the Knight Corps’ attack formation.

Typically in the Knight Corps, this position is either held by the mightiest leader or by a knight who has sworn an oath of atonement and resolved to never retreat, even in death.

Hill could tell that the only reason they had survived thus far was their vengeance-fueled belief. Even if it meant just wounding those Duke of Demons slightly, their deaths would count for something.

Mason followed behind them, expressionless, but his eyes were filled with a life worse than death.

His horse, too, seemed majestic and powerful, but it appeared as though even its soul had frozen over, its eyes filled with nothing but emptiness.

The passing of Aurthezia and her beloved mare took away all their vigor and spirit.

The Radiant Knights Order indeed learned their lesson, but the outcome was too tragic.

Hill suddenly remembered the way she stylishly flicked her long hair amidst the Undead Tribe’s falling rain.

And the little white mare playfully nuzzling into its master’s embrace.

Perhaps in that moment, they were valiant and beautiful, but Hill still felt it was a great pity, a tremendous pity.

He stood up and watched as the Knight Corps, without looking back, charged into the battlefield like a whirlwind.

They no longer cared whether they would die in this war. After discovering that the Undead Tribe had taken over most of the territory and seeing the sunflowers scattered across the hills and fields, the Radiant Knights Order knew that their descendants could finally live in a normal world.

What was needed now was for the convictions the Radiant Knights Order stood for to endure forever.

Even if the Demi-God Knight and the Legendary Knights were to fall in this battle, those Mid-Lower Tier Knights left behind could still face the world with their heads held high and chests puffed out.

But if they believed that the Undead Tribe could win and stayed behind to wait for the outcome, then the Radiant Knights Order might as well be dead already.

The Undead who just defeated the Pleasure Demon saw the Knight Corps rushing towards Bael and the three Demon Lords and unusually made way.

The Undead, though often petty, absolutely respected these warriors who faced death for honor and conviction.

Bael lightly exclaimed ”Oh?” and pulled the Soul Reaver Demon to his front.

The Radiant Knights, led by the two knights burning with all their power, turned into two long arrows and directly struck at him.

The Succubi in their path, frantically beating their wings trying to fly away, were stopped by the countless swords and magical spears fired by the Undead.

Though she was only grazed a little by the military formation of the Knight Corps, the horns on her head and one of her wings were ignited by the Power of Light and disappeared.

Although the Undead let the big boss through, they had no intention of sparing this sister who amused them with her singing and charades.

Hill knew the fate of the Succubus was sealed; she could only hope her backup in the Abyss would not be discovered by the enemy.

He watched the two peculiar long arrows continue straight through the Soul Reaver Demon in front of Bael without turning around.

Bael had already blinked to a distant location; his innate ability allowed him to move freely on the battlefield, leaping into the air to a far-off place.

But some preparations were necessary beforehand.

As expected of a general leading an army, even though he looked down on these Demon Lords, Bael had set up his fallback plans.

But perhaps they were intended to counter the Undead Tribe?

He looked up at the starry sky and then at the Radiant Knights Order, which had lost two lives and was reorganizing its troops. He shook his head helplessly, ”My lord, these fellows want to regain the Power of the Sun, I would not risk my life to stay here.

Interesting, I recall this world was supposed to follow the path of the Country of Radiance, wasn’t it? Otherwise, such a powerful Symbiotic Stone wouldn’t have appeared.

Of course, of course, my lord, everything planned by The Eighth Monarch has failed, I am certain, I am the last devil in this world.

Indeed, he had no other paths to take.”

Hill was stunned for a moment, for Maman, the most crucial thing was to prevent Mephistopheles from succeeding? Since when had he been so loyal to the Lord of Hell?

Other than dreaming of becoming the true Lord of Hell every day, isn’t Mephistopheles only at deep odds with the Flying Insect Lord?

Hill glanced at the two horses galloping toward the Dead Sea, carrying the fallen bodies of their masters, sighed helplessly, but no one could stop their loyalty.

These horses were all High-level Magical Beasts, this was their choice.

The Radiant Knights Order, undeterred, charged again, this time assembling into a triangular formation, with Mason as the spearhead.

The two Demi-God Knights followed close behind him.

That was their main attacking formation. The previous one, was probably only used by those two knights who felt they had made a grave mistake and had no intention of surviving, right?

William also couldn’t help but let out a sigh of regret, as Bael grabbed another Succubus in front of him and even sent back a hammer strike.

Mason spat out a mouthful of blood directly, but he was propped up by the two Demi-God Knights behind him.

Once the knights formed their formation, they could share the damage, and the Demi-God Knights had higher endurance.

All of Bael’s actions were completed amidst the unceasing Holy Rain.

He truly deserved to be the strongest among the Duke of Demons.

”The Undead Tribe can take action now,” William instructed Spencer, ”The Radiant Knights Order has completed their task. Now, before us, only Bael remains.”

Hill looked at William strangely, then, after seeing over a dozen desperate green shadows flying out, he suddenly realized.

Weren’t these elves supposed to arrive through the Teleportation Array? Why were they so much slower than the Radiant Knights Order?

Could elves also get lost?

After the Green Leaf Elves rushed over, they started applying various status buffs to the Radiant Knights. They looked up at the endless Holy Rain in the sky and began to conjure Holy Light.

In fact, they were orbs filled with Holy Power, but amidst the fluttering rain, the orbs they conjured looked big and round.

The Undead Tribe finally realized that, no matter how beautiful these elves in white skirts were, no matter how long their beautiful legs were, they had also come to vie for the final blow on the big BOSS.

The Undead Mages quickly gave up casting Blizzard, the Holy Rain was sufficient.

Now the most important thing was to use powerful focused spells to see who could land the final blow.

Another demon tried to flee but was pulled back to the spot by Bael’s peculiar war magic, once again shielding the duke from a fatal attack.

At this moment, Bael had no more demons to exploit; his eyes turned towards the people of the Radiant Knights Order.

Hill was taken aback, but then Gerns’ Sun suddenly erupted with light.

”Before coming here, they went to pray at the Sun God Temple,” William said quietly, ”At first, I didn’t understand why they did it, even the children pledged their loyalty to Teraxil’s Sun God.

They even sacrificed the Sun God Crystal Fragments earned from killing the demon spy.

Were they waiting for this moment?”

A figure condensed from the Sun: ”I, Soliris, the embodiment of Teraxil’s Sun! Henceforth, Gerns’ Sun will also be under my control!”

The light emanating from the bodies of the Radiant Knights began to resemble the brilliance of the Sun God. Just as they were about to charge, a loud noise came from beyond the world.

A massive tail pierced through the World Membrane and swept directly across.

William stood up abruptly, waving his hands: ”Undead Tribe, raise shields, protect our allies!”

With his motion, a silvery shield enveloped the entire battlefield.

”Maman! You dare!” A deep roar echoed out, and Hill abruptly looked up—it was the real World Tree!
