Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 556: Chapter 354: Let’s Walk the Future Road Together!

Hill sat motionlessly, setting his carriage to follow behind William’s royal carriage before directly activating the Isolation Array.

He then waved his Crystal Flower Ring, added a Wind Series isolation spell and a Water Element defensive shield before he could relax.

Looking at the white cat revealing its true form on his lap, his expression grim, he said, ”Alice! Why have you suddenly come here? What happened? Where is Merkel? Does he want to turn into a dead leopard?”

”Hill,” the white cat said in a soft, tender voice, ”I missed you so much~ Don’t you miss me? Don’t you welcome my arrival?”

Hill sighed softly, ”Alice, of course, I miss you, but I’m definitely not happy to see you in this world. Being the Spirit of Nature from Teraxil, the Natural Consciousness of the Otherworld will not favor you.

It’s too dangerous.

Whether it’s demons or devils, as long as they know about your presence, they will definitely not let you off easily!”

Both demons and devils would very much enjoy seeing a pure and kind Spirit of Nature fall.

Even if they can’t corrupt her, sacrificing Alice would please both the lords of the Abyss and Hell who would gladly reward them.

Alice was being too willful.

Whatever the problem, she could have gone back to the valley! With Agleya and the World Tree there, no one she doesn’t want to see could even get close to her.

”But I’m so sad, only being by your side can I find peace,” Alice lifted her head gently and nestled against Hill’s cheek, ”I went back, but every minute I spent in the valley made me even sadder.

Agleya thought I was too decadent, so she sent me here with the Undead Tribe.

She said that no matter how chaotic this world is, Hill, you could keep me safe. It’s better than me lying depressed all day.”

Hill gritted his back teeth, struggling to suppress the anger in his heart: ”Alice, what has Merkel done? I’ve only been gone for three months, does he think he can rebel?

What about the Magical Beasts from the valley? Haven’t they come to your side?”

Hill felt that, with so many Magical Beasts he had released, Alice should not have to return home in such a fallen state.

”Merkel, after gaining your help, grew much stronger and needs to fall into a deep sleep to absorb these powers,” Alice spoke somberly, ”I thought I just needed to keep sleeping by his side. But he thinks that as a Queen, I should stay outside.

Even if I don’t understand anything, I should still sit on the throne, listening to those useless babblings.”

Hill took out a comb and gently groomed Alice’s fur while listening to her expressing her sorrows.

For Alice, this was not something incredibly unbearable. She was even willing to endure the bloodshed for Merkel.

It was just dull, certainly not the last straw for her.

”Hill, the Magical Beasts are clan-based, actually almost similar to human nobles,” Alice slowly said with her eyes closed, ”For those Magical Beast families, me being a Queen without any familial power is not of much concern to them.

They think Merkel will eventually tire of having me, who knows nothing.

Even many families have sent their most intelligent daughters to the Royal Court.”

She extended her paw, plucking at the air then pulling back, ”Merkel didn’t take a fancy to them, but he didn’t harshly punish these scheming Magical Beasts either.

He is already a qualified King, not to be punishing any pretty Magical Beast that throws themselves at him.

Though he has chased every one of those Magical Beasts from the Royal Court, it’s of no use, if one goes, ten more will come.

Back then, although I was unhappy, I was still the supreme mistress of the Royal Court; no one dared to provoke me.

Until Merkel closed his doors to the outside world. It might take him decades to awaken, by then he might be ready to ignite the Divine Fire.

All Magical Beasts in the Royal Court changed.

They thought that me, a Spirit of Nature, not being a Magical Beast, didn’t deserve to ascend to godliness alongside Merkel.”

Alice said in an incredulous tone, ”I grew up with Merkel, accompanied him from having no beasts follow him to becoming a King, fought alongside him from the south to the north, and most importantly, Merkel loves me!

Yet, such a me is deemed unworthy to ascend to the Divine Throne as his Consort Queen!

Is becoming a deity that difficult?

I’m just waiting for Merkel to become the Beast King, not just depending on him to become a deity!”

Hill switched to a needle comb, carefully grooming Alice’s fur, ”This is Merkel’s fault, he’s too full of himself. Thinking that after these Magical Beast families follow him, they would faithfully think and love as he does.

Stupid leopard.”

”I endured for a while,” a tear welled up in the corner of Alice’s eye, ”I thought I could endure until Merkel woke up.

But I couldn’t.

The omnipresent malice was too upsetting. The acute sensitivity of a Spirit of Nature at this time made it impossible for me to deceive myself.

I know that a part of Magical Beasts in the Royal Court meant me no harm, but they also didn’t help me.

When they were fighting with the Dwarves, every day I put in so much effort to heal their injuries, but their only return for me was not to strike at me.”

Hill’s hands momentarily stilled: ”What about your Cat Tribe?”

”The Cat Tribe is too weak,” Alice sighed softly, ”They are good scouts, but in times of peace, they can neither defeat leopards nor tigers and lions.

When I realized something was wrong, I sent them all to the Abyssal Gate and let them go through the Teleportation Array back to the valley.”

”After all, no Magical Beast has dared to directly attack me; they knew only that I was sensitive to malice and wanted to use that method to kill me.”

Alice clasped Hill’s bulging, veined hand with her two claws, ”I thought my love for Merkel would allow me to endure to the end.

But I soon realized I couldn’t do it; no matter how beautiful love is, it couldn’t make me endure such humiliation.”

Fortunately, although the Magical Beasts Hill had sent back had no real power in the Royal Court, they were numerous and united.

Many lions, tigers, and leopards chose not to join their own kind, but instead stayed together with Magical Beasts that had also made contracts with the Undead Tribe.

Though they didn’t quite understand the malicious tactics of the court, they really cared about me.”

When I decided to leave, they helped me.”

The guys in the court wouldn’t dare let me go.”

It’s funny, they knew I had a strong background, but they still thought I could be bullied.”

As long as I didn’t speak up, I could be bullied; I don’t understand why they thought I would humble myself for love.”

In the end, those Magical Beasts took me to the Abyssal Gate of the Sea God Temple.”

After Agleya found out what had happened, she simply flooded the court with a swath of the sea.

She sent me back to the valley.”

Hill picked up Alice, ”Then Alice will accompany me to explore the vast rivers, the nebulae, and the galaxies outside!”

They didn’t mention Merkel again.

If it had been earlier, such an issue would have caused Merkel to break his meditation.

But this time, there was no sign of him.

Alice probably waited in the valley for a long time, growing sadder and sadder until Agleya suggested she go look for Hill.”

Although Alice is a Spirit of Nature, she had invested most of her skill points in hiding; by being with Hill, the danger wasn’t that great.

Hill didn’t know whether Merkel was in a deep sleep because of his efforts to condense Divinity and had no idea about what was happening outside.

But if Alice was saddened, that leopard might as well not exist.”

It was like Alice, did she not know that Merkel might be completely unaware of what had happened?

Of course she knew.”

It was just that, at her most helpless moment, Merkel’s absence was the last straw.”

If Alice could only survive by relying on Merkel, she would probably have to endure, just like the Consort Queens of Teraxil who met their pathetic end.”

But for Alice, Merkel turned out to be a bind.”

Without that leopard, her life would actually be better.”

Still, Alice was very sad, and Hill could feel that faint sadness.”

He gently pressed his pendant; if there was ever a problem, he could simply keep Alice inside the pendant.”

”But in this world, Alice can’t leave me for a second!” Hill had already given up the idea of leaving the Undead Tribe to travel on his own.”

He could take some risks, but if it ever came down to the wire and he couldn’t protect Alice, Hill would suffer for a lifetime.”

If he followed behind William, Hill felt his safety could still be assured.”

Hill had realized that William planned to start his path to godhood from the world of Gerns.”

Other deities could ignite the Divine Fire and ascend to the Divine Throne by traversing their own worlds.”

But William was clearly planning to traverse all worlds invaded by demons and devils.”

Perhaps at the moment of igniting the Divine Fire, he would be a deity of Intermediate Divine Power?”

Hill gently stroked Alice, ”Alice, let’s do more good deeds! We’ll pick up the pieces behind His Majesty the King.”

Hill removed the isolation magic; it was just a Common Level Isolation Array, which couldn’t block William’s sight.”

He didn’t plan to hide Alice’s arrival from William.”

Hill turned the wall in front of him into transparent crystal; the carriage was already nearing the first city.”

Gazing silently ahead, Hill gently kissed Alice’s forehead amidst the content purring of the white cat, making his own vow: Since there was already a daughter of the Sea God, he wasn’t against nurturing another goddess of healing or health.”

Alice lay on Hill’s lap, curiously observing the scenery ahead.”

The seeds of the Sunflowers, sown by the Undead Tribe along the road, displayed golden flowers and emerald leaves, reflecting the sunlight like crystal and creating a dazzling ribbon of light stretching into the distance.”

”This world, actually stinks quite a bit,” Alice muttered, ”It would be better if the effect of the Sunflowers was stronger.”

Hill chuckled softly and extended the hand wearing the Crystal Flower Ring out the window, letting Nature’s Blessing ride a breeze into the wilderness.”
