Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 585: Chapter 383 The Arrival of the Green Leaf Elves and the Radiant Knights Order

Hill knew about Great Lord Mammon of the Third Layer of Hell, he was known as the Grand Duke of Greed, who loved battle the most, and also loved to toy with his enemies.

The demons haven’t fled yet; their master is probably no pushover either.

Lords of the Abyss who could stand toe-to-toe with Mammon could effortlessly swipe their claws and bring about the complete extinction of these Demon Lords.

No wonder, even Coron and the World Tree could only opt to buy over the Undead Tribe to this world.

Hill raised his head to look at the starry sky, wondering if that vast dark shadow that occasionally emerged was the serpentine body of Mammon?

The most uncomfortable thing about this world for Hill was that he couldn’t see any stars at all.

In the night sky, aside from the eerie glow of the Moon Halo, one could only see the War God Constellation and the Magic Constellation; the design of the devils was quite lavish, one being a giant wielding a massive hammer, the other a mysterious Mage holding a magic book.

However, when that forged God of Magic fell, his Divine Kingdom didn’t perish along with him.

Hill knew right then that this firmament was also fake.

Their so-called ascension to godhood was merely occupying a portion of the Laws and obtaining some authority over various Laws.

But that wasn’t enough to have this world acknowledge their ascension to the Divine Throne and to ignite the Divine Fire.

Now, Hill suspected that the one from the Magic Kingdom couldn’t achieve it; he was not omniscient nor omnipotent when it came to spells, and the World Rules of Gerns would never recognize him as the God of Magic.

But the War God was different; he was indeed brave enough, even to the point of being invincible.

In battles with Demon Lords, every move he made seemed imbued with Divine Power, and even against Evil Gods, he truly grazed the edge of the Laws of Warfare.

Especially Bael, who was very adept at practical tactics and knew some war-related Divine Arts, likely evolved from his innate ability to command an enemy to take damage on his behalf with his spell-like abilities.

If it comes to one-on-one, demons are no match for him. However, when outnumbered, a demon may suddenly appear in front of Bael, willing to become his shield.

When Hill saw the terrible wounds on the colossal Soul Judging Demon, he fully understood why the Succubus was unwilling to join the assault on Bael.

Although Bael now preferred to have the similarly huge Soul Judging Demon block damage for him, if it were the flying Succubus, she might become his target. Faster speed, right?

However, if the devils that came with Bael were all slow subordinates of Mammon, then Hill could understand why the War God Kingdom had absolutely no interest in the Undead Tribe.

To devils that target souls, the Undead Tribe is the most hated enemy.

Even worse than necromancy.

At least the remnants of a necromancy body might yield some material, but the Undead Tribe had nothing, at most leaving behind some equipment, which was meaningless.

The cost of corrupting those materials was more than the equipment itself! Mammon’s subordinates wouldn’t make such a losing deal, better kill a few demons to please the Lord of Hell!

It was the same for demons; they couldn’t find the souls of the Undead Tribe, whether sorrowful or frightened, demons couldn’t feel anything, and they couldn’t even taste the pleasure of the flesh, so even the least brainy demons wouldn’t want to exert themselves in vain.

However, their reluctance to battle didn’t mean the Undead Tribe didn’t want to fight them.

After clearing out the lesser monsters in circles, the Undead Tribe went after the lords.

Even the two Beauties they had just praised had their faces smashed with hundreds of shields, and a sky-full of long swords stabbed at the dazed Succubus and Pleasure Demon.

The Undead Tribe seemed to believe these two enormous beauties were the weakest remaining bosses, with most spells directed at them.

Even the Space-Time Warlock was commanding the Space-Time Dragon to lock down their evasion space.

The Undead Tribe had expanded the casting range of the Blizzard and Holy Rain to cover the entire battlefield.

Even Bael, who didn’t want to bother with the Undead Tribe, couldn’t help but roar with curses, ”Damn humans! I will annihilate you all!”

He expected the demons would make way for him, considering the annoying rain and snow also dealt considerable damage to them.

Unexpectedly, the Demon Lords continued to block Bael’s path.

William suddenly let out a chuckle, ”They want the Succubus to take out the Pleasure Demon first. That way, even if they make a run for it, they can still explain it to the Lord of the Abyss.”

Hill carefully watched the screen, noticing that compared to the agile Succubus, the Pleasure Demon was indeed more affected by the Blizzard; her flight speed had decreased, and she had been hit by multiple attacks from the Undead Tribe.

The Pleasure Demon couldn’t even care to protect her beautiful face anymore. Spotting that she might be finished first, the Undead Tribe naturally aimed most of their skills at her.

What if the final blow was their own? The Undead Tribe was always enthusiastic about stealing bosses.

Hill, however, couldn’t help but scratch his head: Could this be the difference between wings with fur and those without in the rain and snow?

One could still move quickly, while the other had turned into a plucked chicken.

”It was the waterproof magic on the feathers of the Pleasure Demon that got nullified by the Holy Rain, which is why she ended up like this. Ordinary rain can’t penetrate her wings,” William explained with a wry smile to Hill, who had unintentionally spoken aloud, ”It just proves that this Pleasure Demon wasn’t very powerful to begin with, ranking at the bottom among the Dukes of Demons.

Unlike devils, the title of a duke among demons doesn’t necessarily depend on one’s own strength.

But still, to be injured this badly by just an overlapping range of Legendary Divine Arts, that Succubus was really being merciful only to lash out and disfigure her face!

Who is that Lord of the Abyss outside? Even his subordinate Demon Lords have learned to act.”

William muttered to himself.

”Your Majesty the King, the elves and the Radiant Knights Order are coming,” Spencer said, holding a tablet, ”They should be nearing the edge of the battlefield. I’ll have the trailing Undead pay attention to their whereabouts.”

William looked up at Spencer, waiting for what he would say next.

”The Radiant Knights Order has sent all the children to the valley camp, since it was agreed upon beforehand, so the Divine Artifact allowed all these children to enter.

It seems they were pre-selected; all these children are of neutral to good nature.”

Hill looked on curiously, aware that children in this world hardly had a comfortable childhood; being neutral was already a good sign, at least indicating that they had normal parents or a living environment.

Even for the Radiant Knights Order, it was the same, let alone after they had just suffered a great disaster. So, what about the remaining children?

”The rest of the children and all the adults were sent to the Border City of the Magic Kingdom, which is quite close to our valley now.

The city had basically been abandoned, leaving only a few hundred civilians initially, who were later arranged to be relocated to bigger cities further back.

They are willing to wait there for His Majesty the King’s triumphant return, after which they’ll receive a fair trial.

As for the knights above the Legendary rank, all of them geared up preparing to join the war on this side.

They earnestly requested His Majesty the King for a chance to wash away their disgrace.

The elves, on the other hand, are quite straightforward, just sending some Legendary priests and mages. It seems that when they were inquiring for information, they learned that Coron has been paying attention to this world.

As devout followers of Coron, they are willing to do something to please their Main God.”

”Of course, this is what the people who escorted the children to the valley brought back. Whether it’s true or not, they can’t be certain.”

”Did that Priest really go to seek information from the acquaintances in the Supreme Forest?” Hill couldn’t help but ask, ”Even though Coron is tolerant toward his followers, but...”

”Even if that Priest asked whether the Elven God King is Coron’s own offspring, the Father of Elves wouldn’t get angry about it. He doesn’t care about these things.

But, I suspect she has offended some other deities,” William spoke, his head buried in the tablet, probably inquiring about matters related to the Divine Artifact.

But William didn’t seem to believe that the elves would come to such a dangerous place for Coron’s praise. While Coron liked them to maintain kindness and love, he definitely never asked them to bravely fight for other races.

Hill thought so too.

”It’s not just the child of the Elven God King, there’s also a descendant of another deity, right?” William suddenly chuckled, ”Logically speaking, the child of the God of Archery wouldn’t normally act together with the child of the Father of Elves.

The brother of the God of Archery, the Wandering God of the Elves, has always blamed Coron for the state Rose is in today.

His nephew acting alongside Coron’s son—with the nature of elves, they could concoct countless stories.

Saying that they are biological brothers would be possible.

Coron might not mind, but the God of Archery probably couldn’t tolerate it, as he is quite fond of his own brother and would definitely not want to be featured together with Coron in tabloid gossip.”

After pondering for a moment, Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

So, the Green Leaf Elves really did come seeking Coron’s praise, but was the main reason to ask their Main God for help in holding back an angry God of Archery?

However, how did William come to know of this? Hill looked curiously at King of Saral, who was gesturing and gesticulating.

”The Green Leaf Elves truly are brave enough to admit their own mistakes,” William said with a bitter expression, ”Right beside our Teleportation Array, they were debating whose fault it was, whether it was theirs or the Supreme Forest lot that started the rumor, and why they have to pay the price.

Although their main aim was to observe the principle behind the Teleportation Array, they were rather...

They took the Teleportation Array directly to the city closest here, so they should be arriving soon.”

William fell silent for a few minutes, then spoke again, ”Actually, the elves of Teraxil are also quite likable, aren’t they?”

There was silence in the air, and while it was understandable that William was frustrated with the Green Leaf Elves, no one was willing to praise Teraxil’s elves.

Sounds of horse hooves soon followed from behind King William’s Royal Palace, signaling the arrival of the Radiant Knights Order.

Hill watched the members of the Knight Corps circling from the left rear to the front and sighed softly: though their numbers had grown, a third of the faces he remembered were no longer there.
