Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 568: Chapter 366 Shaer’s Smile and Gift

For Rose, each small world that could be ensnared by her spider webs was important; she would not pass up any chance to enhance her strength.

If she could obtain that pseudo magic net, her Spider Magic Net, which only partly harnessed the abilities of the Weave, could become even stronger.

Her ability to weave nets was not bad, but her understanding of the Weave was not as profound, so she could only choose to take what belonged to others.

But Shaer was also there.

With the Red Moon and Black Moon so close, the result of their neighborly position would definitely not be a friendly greeting.

Confronting Shaer, the embodiment of darkness, Rose honestly could only take a beating; although they both wielded powerful divine forces, Rose was far less superior!

Yet, Rose still insisted on staying, probably for this world that might be devoured by the Abyss.

If those demons really destroyed this world completely, when the world of Gerns was pulled into the Bottomless Abyss, she absolutely had a way to make Gerns part of her Spider Magic Net.

After pondering for a while, Hill said, ”At the very least, the Lord of the Abyss who has designs on this world is not that strong. Otherwise, that lady would not be so brazen.”

William nodded and then suddenly spoke, ”Then, I would like to have this already broken, irreparable magic net as a toy. Surely the beautiful and gracious Lady of the Lost wouldn’t mind, right?”

William’s eyebrows twitched, and he directly opened above the palace, as a black silk kerchief gently floated down.

Hill and Spencer, who had already abandoned what they were holding, held their breath and crowded around William to look.

Underneath the mysterious and dangerous purple eyes outlined on the silk kerchief, was a line of clear divine script: ”Yes, but let me kill them all first.”

Hill let out a soft breath, seeming like Shaer really took a liking to William.

He quietly walked back to his seat and sat down comfortably.

For Shaer, the half magic net without any shadowy essence was utterly meaningless, the power it contained could at most elevate a user to pseudo-legendary level.

It couldn’t really be considered legendary—though the level was similar, the power was vastly different. To a powerful deity like Shaer, no amount would make a difference.

Even if it were several billions, to these powerful divine forces, the Undead were amusing but not yet a threat.

Moreover, if William really did stir up some major event, it would be her enemies in Mystra who would be affected.

Shaer would be more than happy to see Mystra get into trouble.

Not everyone could wield the Shadow Force!

But for William, this broken net was just perfect; if it were too strong, he would still have to find ways to suppress it.

He simply wanted a virtual magic net, preferably one that would leave its user completely powerless after they left the net.

And hopefully, it wouldn’t have any connection with the soul whatsoever.

William quickly realized that since Shaer could appear without caring, the time to act was almost upon them.

He also quickly returned with Spencer.

Sitting on the throne, William took out a small, flat metal box from his ring and placed it on a small table that rose in front of him.

The box was entirely black, adorned all over with purple and white pearl in clusters of stars, incredibly pretty and luxurious.

William opened the box, revealing the white silk lining inside.

Hill watched as the King of Saral solemnly spread the silk kerchief flat and neatly placed it inside the box, then put the box back into his space ring before he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Hill didn’t know how William felt, but he thought it impressive that the King could recover so quickly from the shock of realizing that Shaer could actually hear his words and dared to directly inquire about the ownership of the pseudo magic net.

That was quite powerful.

Though Hill thought himself quite bold, he was still far inferior compared to the King.

But he could understand William’s emphasis on Shaer’s silk kerchief; being extremely cautious was never too much.

Not to mention, the Lady of the Night definitely was a goddess in William’s heart. Moreover, if Shaer suddenly appeared before him one day, asking about the silk kerchief, producing the box would have the same effect as his sincere compliments given today.

The night was growing darker as the peculiar moon halo of Gerns was moving to the center of the sky.

Yet the capital remained brightly lit, with continuous Holy Rain falling from the sky, casting a soft golden light.

The never-ending light was reflected out by the massive Ice Walls surrounding the capital, creating a feel of bright illumination.

Hill, looking at the giant screen, said leisurely, ”Your Majesty, the black tendrils you wanted to see have appeared, silently emerging behind that Demon Lord’s head.”

Immediately alert, William focused intently on the screen, ”Has Miliel noticed it? He’s rushing forward! True to the Kind Alignment deities, letting his teammates escape first!

What is he shouting? That the Pope is fleeing? Asking his teammates to chase him?

Oh, indeed, compared to Mephistopheles, they hate that Pope who keeps his eyes on the Radiant Knights Order more.

Where are they? Hill, Naven, did you see?”

”Bell Tower,” said Hill nonchalantly. ”Several Deep Prison Demons are hiding there! The Pope is there too, seems he has also turned into a demon, just still draped in the Pope’s long cape.”

”That spider?” William asked in surprise.

”It’s down there spinning a web!” Hill said helplessly, ”It seems they plan to capture a few devils to sacrifice to their goddess.”

Spencer silently switched the tablet in his hand and finally put a side-view live stream on the big screen, which was closer to the bell tower.

Although it was still quite far, one could indeed see a few winged creatures getting ready to take off on the bell tower.

But the spider was really not seen.

However, if it were Karula or her colleagues, they could understand why it was completely invisible; that thing hid in the air, undetectable even by gods.

If Hill hadn’t pointed out the few strands of silver threads dancing in the wind, no one could have noticed such thin lines.

Finding that Miliel was indeed able to withstand Mephistopheles’ attack, his teammates didn’t plan to stay and ask him why he did so, why he concealed the truth.

Rather than knowing why their teammate had the ability to resist but still chose a supportive role, they were more concerned about the devils about to fly away from the bell tower; any issues could be discussed after the fight.

Two knights and two elves together turned and rushed towards the bell tower.

They leaped vigorously from one roof still visible above the water surface, carrying an unstoppable momentum.

Leaving behind only a god and a demon in perfect tacit coordination.

Mephistopheles, noticing Miliel’s actions, had no desire to stop these people.

He knew well that the God of Singing must have spotted a more formidable enemy to act so suddenly.

And the only one who might plan to defeat him and Miliel in one stroke was one entity.

Although this clone, even if lost, did not pose much damage to him; otherwise, he would have fled already.

But Mephistopheles still wanted to struggle a bit.

Watching him looking around, peeking here and there, but unable to see the darkness above his own head, William couldn’t help but laugh, ”I thought devils would have a greater reaction to dark magic power! Turns out it was Miliel who discovered it first!”

Well, they’ve been old adversaries for hundreds of thousands of years; how could they not know? Hill couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

Upon realizing that a squad capable of rivaling their revered Great Monarch was charging towards them, the high-level demons did not hesitate to fly out, despite the injuries.

All they needed to do was to fly straight up and escape the range of the Holy Rain.

Though painful, these injuries were bearable for the demons of high level, at least in the short term.

Regrettably, their quick getaway ended under several strands of twirling spider silk.

The giant spider’s webs couldn’t take shape under the Holy Rain, but a few particularly sturdy strands were still usable.

Her target was quite specific, directly dragging the only female devil back under the bell tower with all her might.

For the other devils, she merely slowed their escape; whether they could struggle out and avoid being killed by the annoying rain was of no concern to the spider anymore.

Rose’s subordinates, who always disliked returning empty-handed calculated their moves could fail, but not utterly without a gain.

Hill gently said, ”This is probably not Karula. She wouldn’t be so bold in front of the Undead.”

What truly dismayed the Undead was the battle between the Demon Lord and the God of Singing.

As for these legendary or even demigod fights, they only kindled the Undead’s desire to love each other till death.

How dull!

Undoubtedly, the Undead started climbing the ice wall.

With many mages present, the ice wall extended directly towards the bell tower. The dense crowd began a direct assault.

”Leave that long-cloaked devil to the people of Gerns,” William commanded indifferently, ”Inform the Undead that these are allies’ targets.

Then, continue watching the most critical battle!”

Spencer quickly switched the big screen back to Mephistopheles’ view.

”I was wondering why Mephistopheles didn’t flee!” William finally saw what he wanted to know, ”Miliel, this guy, truly is known for his meticulous mind.”

If Mephistopheles had run before Miliel appeared, there might have been a chance to escape, but now, a magic array woven from musical notes firmly controlled the Devil King’s feet.

Miliel had been playing the harp for hours, not just to provide his own accompaniment.

”Miliel! You fool!” Mephistopheles cursed, ”Do you think you will be spared? Shaer will kill you first before me!”

Hearing his roar, the four who had taken over from the Pope turned back alarmingly, almost allowing the devil to break out of the encirclement.

Unfortunately, just as there was a glimmer of hope, it was blocked by a row of skills from the surrounding Undead.

The Undead might let these Gerns people handle the final blow, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t scrape some experience off.

Miliel stopped singing, smiled, and spoke, ”They are just clones, why so nervous? Close your eyes, and you’ll be back. Don’t worry, whether early or late, death is still death.”
