Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 565: Chapter 363: The Path of Rebellion of the God of Singing

Mephistopheles had indeed discovered it.

Though this guy was famously arrogant, it didn’t mean he wasn’t intelligent.

Besides, since he dared to covet the Weave, he naturally had to be wary of Mystra and her allies.

But Mephistopheles bent down and looked at this God of Singing, how long had this guy who seemed like a mere bard been in his dominion?

Even the elves were willing to join Miliel and come forth to battle; it surely wasn’t for a short time!

Why had he never noticed?

He was almost furious, ”Miliel! When did you come to this world? Damn it! You really would go through hell and high water for that bitch Mystra!

Aren’t you a True God yourself? Are you so used to living a life of hiding and secrecy?

Lucky bastard! If I had discovered you earlier! I would have flayed and dismembered you by now!

The drums made from your skin would sound so delightful!”

Miliel said nothing; he had no intention of stopping his singing to reply.

After all, the angrier Mephistopheles got, the more successful Miliel was.

At least his long infiltration had not been in vain as the God of Singing moved nimbly, singing, dancing, and playing the lyre.

Despite having been in this world for thirty thousand years, the forces of resistance were still struggling to organize.

He had arrived too late.

He had hoped to ally with the native deities, but to his disappointment, the only one left was a barely living Silvermoon.

But he was out of options.

If it were not for his unobtrusive nature, he wouldn’t dare send an avatar to this world.

Crossing worlds was dangerous even for gods, yet he had to take this risk.

In their own world, combating devils and demons was already exceedingly challenging. If the devils managed to establish their own version of the Weave and competed with Mystra for dominion over magic, the whole of Ferun would be doomed.

Moreover, this matter couldn’t be confided to other deities; Mystra had too many enemies.

Luckily, the Crystal Wall of this world had been made particularly weak by the demons; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to enter so easily.

He had to ensure that everything proceeded in utter secrecy.

Although no god would want to see the creation of a Super-tier Magic Net capable even of Shadow Weave feats, they also wouldn’t assist Mystra.

While Mystra’s allies seemed numerous, some would turn into adversaries at the first opportunity, perhaps even more vicious than previous enemies.

The Weave was dangerous, yet what it represented could tempt some to commit acts beyond reason and morality.

Thus, Mystra couldn’t possibly leave their own world; a single step would result in a collective assault leading to their death.

The dependable ones, those gods renowned for their battle prowess, were too well known for their Divine Power attributes outside, making discovery all too easy.

Their involvement would be akin to clearly broadcasting an invitation for plunder with great rewards.

And Miliel’s avatar was no match for the Demon Lord with his three Duke of Demons; he could only slowly devise a plan.

For tens of thousands of years, he taught bards in human taverns, slowly regaining his strength to a level just shy of that of a minor god.

Yet, even in such a state, he couldn’t possibly oppose a Monarch of Demons.

Even dealing with those Dukes disguised as deities was somewhat challenging for him.

Fortunately, the elves were of great assistance.

They were even willing to provide a safe haven within their forest for him and his followers.

Otherwise, in this darkly ruled world, he truly might not have been able to protect those lucid followers.

Take the Radiant Knights Order for instance, the subordinates of the sun god native to this world.

Miliel had planned to work with them, but in their encampment, there were all types of people. A single glance revealed many dark souls to him.

Although there were also many souls of light, Miliel understood that the people of the Radiant Knights Order might not believe him unless he went out and proved the evil nature of these souls.

However, should he dare to show himself, he would likely be instantly captured and killed by the demons.

Although he was prepared for the destruction of this avatar, Miliel could not bear the thought of it ending for such a reason; he still hoped, as the last resort, to perish together with a fragment of Mephistopheles’ being.

Indeed, that would swiftly resolve the situation with the Pseudo Magic Net, but the humans of this world would be utterly doomed.

An enraged Mephistopheles would surely make the whole world pay for the death of his avatar.

As a deity of the Kind Alignment, Miliel could not do such a thing.

He hoped to endure until the very last minute.

Luckily, although the Knight Corps was a mess, there were always some knights who strived for the light.

He directly reached out to two Legendary Knights seeking to attain greater strength and to save their kin, training them for a long time in the elves’ forest.

Moreover, he even managed to awaken the World Will of Gerns.

Miliel had not expected that this world was created by the World Tree, and its loathing for evil made the World Will utterly intolerant.

Gerns’ World Will woke up to find half of its Divine Soul had been eroded by the devils and went mad.

In its frenzy to sever the corrupted part of its soul, it even went so far as to lure the demons in.

The demons went nearly insane with joy when they discovered the existence of the devil, swarming over.

If it weren’t for the fact that this Monarch of Demons was obviously an avatar, those Lords of the Abyss might even have come running over.

Miliel almost thought he was completely doomed.

If the world were devoured by the Abyss, there would be no good end for the Weave once it fell into demon hands.

He watched for a long time, then secretly breathed a sigh of relief, fortunate that Rose hadn’t discovered this world.

He almost thought he could only sacrifice this avatar, destroying the central hub of the Pseudo Magic Net before it entered the Abyss.

But then the Gerns World Will, by some means, contacted its own Creator and Coron.

Not to mention that the World Tree would strive to reclaim its own children; even Coron would find a way to protect his kin from being displaced.

Although there were only a few thousand elves in the Greenleaf Forest, they were all of Coron’s most devout followers, still upholding the Kind Alignment in this fearsome world.

Moreover, the Greenleaf Forest was essentially a Divine Artifact, so the elves could actually run away if they wanted to.

If they decided to flee, even a hot-tempered brute like Mephistopheles wouldn’t intervene to stop them.

Of course, the devils had no intention of provoking Coron. This Father of Elves didn’t want to completely fall out with them, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t.

In any world where devils exist, there are elves too; what the devils don’t have, the elves do.

The devils desired a peaceful fortune; they only wanted souls, most of which they could get through tempting trades, with no interest in personally waging a war.

If the elves really waged an all-out war against the devils, even someone as powerful as Mephistopheles couldn’t withstand the wrath of all Hell.

Yet the elves, who had lived in this world for hundreds of thousands of years, had no intention of fleeing outright; they also planned to try and save this world.

By the time Miliel appeared, some elves had already decided to risk turning back into elven seeds and fight the devils.

That’s why they were so supportive of Miliel building a camp in their forest, to cultivate knights and bards.

The appearance of the demons was a blow not only to Miliel but also to these elves.

Facing the devils, the not-so-numerous elves held a glimmer of hope, but against the swarming demons, they simply had no chance.

Moreover, the demons wouldn’t consider whether the Father of Elves would get angry or not.

They didn’t care about fighting with anyone.

The day Coron’s will appeared in the Greenleaf Forest was almost a redemption for these elves; they were truly desperate.

The elves who wanted a fight to the death and those who wished to leave almost turned on each other.

Many elves were deeply attached to this world, but such sentiment couldn’t outweigh their own lives.

The demons were capable of destroying their Tree of Life!

Fortunately, Coron arrived; that day, as the green light flickered and all the elves knelt sincerely, Miliel saw and was moved to tears.

Then, Coron himself unexpectedly stayed out of it!

At that moment, Miliel understood that standing beyond this world wasn’t just deities. The eyes of Demon Lords and Great Monarchs probably all fixed on this place!

But likewise, the devils and demons probably couldn’t send reinforcements either. This was their battlefield.

However, although the devils were few in number, they were powerful, and the number of demons had grown terrifyingly large; humans, on the other hand, had little left worth saving.

Miliel felt this world would likely end up as a battlefield between devils and demons. The Monarch’s avatar, Mephistopheles, probably wouldn’t take the field; he wasn’t mad enough to use his avatar to confront a Lord of the Abyss.

And the demons, probably wouldn’t bother Mephistopheles, letting him do what he wanted on the side.

Miliel was ready to do whatever it took to die together with the Monarch of Demons before the Pseudo Magic Net was perfected.

After all, they were both avatars. Who was afraid of whom?

As long as that Magic Net was destroyed, it would be worth it even if the world were swallowed by the Abyss.

Miliel was all prepared to try and take the souls of his followers back to his Divine Kingdom before he died.

An imperfect world could not possibly have a Grim Reaper, so taking away such a few souls wouldn’t be a problem.

But then Coron issued such a strange divine message!

When Miliel knew help from believers of deities from Otherworlds would come to save this world, he wondered if Coron had lost his mind.

He could only set out with his comrades, who had long since decided to make one last effort for this world, leaving Greenleaf Forest to fight a desperate battle with Mephistopheles.

If this Great Monarch of devils failed, given his volatile temper, he might end up fighting a Lord of the Abyss outside. Perhaps this world could find a glimmer of hope.

However, the further Miliel traveled, the more astonished he became; this army, not weak in power and even comparable in number to demons, where had Coron found them from?

Mephistopheles was on the brink of doom!

Miliel stopped halfway, feeling he might go back and rest.

But then, two knights received messages from their loved ones: the Radiant Knights Order had suffered heavy losses, with only a small number managing to escape.

Nearly furious, they sought vengeance from the God of Magic.
