Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 576: Chapter 374 Guardian Knight Naven Spencer

Spencer was constantly tense, and he didn’t care about the fate of the Elf, ”Hurry back to the Star Gate! Who knows if he might suddenly make a move? The stone in your hand, isn’t that desired by the Demon Lord too?”

He was genuinely anxious, and Hill couldn’t help but chuckle—it was uncharacteristic of the Sky Knight to address William in such a serious and even slightly accusatory tone when not alone with him.

William understood and quickly hastened the carriage’s pace; he was a bit worried about Spencer.

Hill turned and left, creating space for William to soothe his nervous cousin.

Perhaps, Spencer had been on edge for a while, and William’s detour, just as they were about to reach a safe place, was the last straw for the Sky Knight.

After all, what could William really say?

If it hadn’t been for Naven’s sudden slip of the tongue, even William had not realized that Naven was reaching his limit.

William knew, it was still an issue of Naven’s strength.

His cousin was never afraid to sacrifice his life for him, but the most painful thing was that, with his current prowess, if they truly faced an enemy even William struggled against, even sacrificing himself might not buy a seconds’ delay.

William could only choose to return as quickly as possible.

Only once he integrated the crystal into that Divine Artifact could Naven truly relax.

Such an item, sought after by both the Demon Lord and powerful Divine Powers, indeed exceeded Naven’s comprehension, and William sighed faintly as he observed his cousin, who appeared calm and composed.

Only the Legendary, a breakthrough of life’s limits, can truly be relied upon.

William had thought about connecting Naven to the Weave, like the Undead Tribe, a form that could be seen as Legendary, which would at least extend life to eight hundred years.

William felt that he wouldn’t take eight hundred years to ignite the Divine Fire and ascend to the Divine Throne.

If it really took that long, the Will of the World in Teraxil would have turned against him.

But when he tentatively proposed this, Naven flatly refused.

William understood his cousin’s stance, to settle for such a Pseudo-Legend that didn’t offer true understanding of the world, aside from extending life, wasn’t very useful.

For Naven, such a falsified existence was worse than simply living out his life and heading straight to William’s Divine Kingdom upon death.

Luckily, the Greenleaf Forest was accessible from all sides, and the northern entrance was indeed very close to the center of the world.

It only took William a few hours to quickly return to the valley.

The carriage moved swiftly through the open gate.

That Divine Artifact, which controlled the Undead Tribe, was also arguably the most powerful intelligence, easily controlling all the Divine Arrays and Magic Arrays within this camp.

Not to mention a few Legendary Puppets.

As he looked at the Knight Puppet opening the gate for them, William felt regret that, after Fran had left, such Legendary Puppets were really not available for purchase anymore!

The main issue was that even if Teraxil’s Legendary Mages could make them, William wouldn’t dare buy them!

Unable to help himself, William glanced at the back hall—could Hill create Legendary Level Puppets? Legendary Level ones, he seemed to only ever use those made by Fran.

As for Adrian, he was truly incapable; the greatest ability of his puppets was to self-destruct.

Even for William, such a costly method was a bit too much to handle.

As soon as the carriage stopped, William flew out and handed over the Primordial Crystal to the Divine Artifact now showing its form.

What had happened, It had long since known.

To the Divine Artifact, known as the System Core, impatient for the Primordial Crystal that could advance it further.

Hill quietly walked out of the Royal Palace; at the moment the carriage stopped, the stone Royal Palace flickered and then jumped back into that camouflaged large stone.

However, the carriage had stopped in front of the smaller palace in the center.

For the sake of protecting William’s life, the God of Time and Space really went to great lengths!

But Hill’s attention was still on the Divine Artifact devouring the Primordial Crystal; he genuinely didn’t know whether William’s trust in Shaer was justified.

That Goddess was genuinely Neutral Evil, extreme in her actions and her Divinity included lies, deceit, and betrayal.

Fortunately, thus far the devouring was going smoothly and Shaer seemed to really have not prepared any countermeasures.

The once silver-gleaming Divine Artifact was now flowing with white and black light.

But digesting this Crystal Ball wasn’t going to be easy.

Hill felt a slight jealousy towards William, suddenly wishing this devouring process wouldn’t go too smoothly.

How could Shaer possibly do nothing!

Her followers all worshipped her far more sincerely than William!

Hill fell silent; he should reevaluate those stereotypes about the Deities of Ferun—he truly hadn’t expected Shaer to be so pleased by just a few words from William!

Could it be because they are from different worlds, his compliments seemed more sincere?

After standing there for three days, observing the Divine Core manifest the Yin Yang and Eight Trigrams on its silver surface, Hill quietly walked toward his shop.

How could he forget, this Core belonged to the Time and Space heavyweight.

Yin and Yang, Eight Trigrams and such, maybe not very proficient, but definitely understood.

Hill had just entered the shop and hadn’t checked the latest acquisitions when he was startled by a burst of light soaring into the sky outside.

Was this the Light of Legend?

He quickly turned around and went back, and indeed, it was Spencer.

This Sky Knight, after enduring for so long, had finally ascended to legendary status with his guardian heart.

Hill silently observed the Light of Law surrounding Spencer, finally understanding why William didn’t care about which world his cousin became a legend in.

The Laws he communicated with were not some Nature Element, completely different from the knights of Teraxil in the past.

Compared to knights of the Fire or Earth elements, Spencer’s core consisted of only two aspects: guarding and sacrifice.

In any world, guarding exists unchanged.

And as for sacrifice, it goes without saying; anyone embodying this Law is regarded highly in any world.

Without a heartfelt conviction, one cannot communicate with the Laws; knights daring to sacrifice themselves for what they guard always deserve respect.

After Spencer became a Guardian Knight, wherever he followed William in the future, he could unleash his most powerful strength.

He no longer needed to be tense to the point of losing control.

Hill turned to see William, who was almost dancing with joy.

There he was, spinning around, his feet nimble as they danced, completely oblivious to the returning Undead Tribe slamming against him.

Hill smiled, pulled up a chair, and sat down beside him.

He wanted to congratulate Spencer immediately, but he didn’t want to stand foolishly with William.

Flipping open a book, Hill quietly began to read, estimating the complexity of Spencer’s advancement; it would take at least three days.

The Laws of guarding and sacrifice were not so simple in their assessment of their own knights.

The endless light transformed into an orb enveloping Spencer; he must have been taken to the World Core for his trial.

However, surprisingly, Spencer’s trial of the Laws lasted a full five days.

Even Hill couldn’t help himself and stood on the sidelines ready, with all his healing spells prepared; if Spencer failed, he would be seriously injured!

Even Alice was prepared inside the pendant, ready to jump out and use healing spells at any moment.

Compared to Hill’s large-scale healing skills, Alice’s focused healing spells had slightly stronger restorative power.

The ground beneath William’s feet was already flickering with strange lights; Hill glanced at his king who had revealed himself.

He thought William only mastered Space Magic! Turns out he knew Time Magic as well!

That peculiar pattern, with Hill’s superficial understanding of the Time System, could only be identified as some kind of time-stopping spell.

William knew his cousin well; he would surely hold out until the end.

If he truly failed, being covered with wounds, bleeding ceaselessly was a minor concern; there might be only a second to save his life.

His little scheming, hiding his trump cards, obviously couldn’t continue in such grave situations.

Moreover, beside the Star Gate, whether it was deities or devils outside, they simply couldn’t see inside.

Here, except for Hill, no one else could understand what Divine Arts he was using.

William watched anxiously; he couldn’t care about anything else.

Although Hill was worried too, he still managed to control his expression tightly and focused his attention entirely on Spencer.

William truly had that military presence, marking his steps at one spot!

He usually held himself with the dignity of a king, and it was hard to see traces of his past world on William, but when he couldn’t control his emotions, that military shadow from his past still inadvertently showed through.

Hill didn’t go to console him.

He had experienced the advancements of Fran and Adrian, and although a mage’s ascent to legend even if failed wouldn’t affect their lives, their elemental bodies could handle slightly longer exposure to the starry sky without issue.

But for knights, becoming a legend was like a metamorphosis; if unsuccessful, the flesh and bones changed out could really be lost forever.

Hill frowned; William must have been very confident in this world to let Spencer advance to legendary status in Gerns!

How could it have suddenly turned out this way?

On the morning of the sixth day, the orb around Spencer began to dissipate, and the Light of Law became clearly visible.

Only at this moment could those not belonging to these two Laws understand at a glance what the Guardian Light and Light of Sacrifice were.

William relaxed, his tense shoulders finally easing, and he finally realized the piece of land under his feet was stomped into a half-meter deep pit.

This was land hardened by a Divine Artifact, with an Array underneath!

If it wasn’t for his extreme urgency, the core of the Divine Artifact would probably directly strike him with lightning!

William scratched his head, putting everything behind him, and approached Spencer who stood tall in the faint light.

Spencer, now a Legendary Guardian Knight, knelt on one knee before his eternal sovereign, ”My King! Naven Spencer returns in triumph!”
