Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 570: Chapter 368: An Apology from the Elven God King Part One

Shaer had probably left long ago.

Holding a fervent gaze, William stared at the sky above for a long time, even though the top of the King’s Hall hadn’t closed for quite a while and danger might be present.

Unfortunately, no more phenomena appeared.

For Shaer, this was just an interesting journey in the Otherworld, meeting a cute devotee.

She wouldn’t stay outside of Toril for too long over any matter.

That was the place she loved most, although her way of loving was somewhat unacceptable to others.

Hill looked at William and noticed that he truly liked Shaer quite a bit.

Even when facing the notoriously fickle and vicious Goddess of Darkness, William felt a pang of regret over her departure.

He closed the top of the Royal Palace, seemingly dejected, because not seeing Shaer’s true form seemed to sadden him.

Despite that, William simply wished that Shaer would always remain powerful and her authority everlasting, always beautiful and captivating, yet he firmly refrained from wishing that all her desires be fulfilled.

It seemed that even facing his idol, William managed to retain his integrity.

After all, if that goddess’s goal were truly achieved, the entire Toril Universe would be utterly destroyed.

Even though it was another world, William could not possibly wish for the extinction of life across the entire world for the sake of his goddess.

He walked back to his chair and held the crystal ball in his hand, lost in thought for a while.

Then he said, ”Spencer, command the Undead Tribe to skirt around the Capital, to completely purge the Magic Kingdom of the evil faction.

After the lady appeared, the demons are unlikely to strike at us, they’ll only charge at that so-called War God.

After the Magic Kingdom is cleared, head directly to the Kingdom of the Black Moon.

It must be chaos there by now, and that fake God of the Black Moon, the Duke of Demons, is undoubtedly dead.

For that lady, even if it is not her world, she would not like to see the Black Moon occupied by devils.

Next is the Red Moon.

I hope that the Spider Queen has already given up on the Gerns World, but since we have dealt with her before, let’s just go straight there!

Whether she is there or not, the Duke of Demons of the Red Moon would have certainly met his demise by now.

Let’s sort out the territories of these three countries first before anything else.”

Leaning back on his throne, William sighed, ”As for us, let’s return to the Star Gate Valley first. I need to have the Divine Artifact of the God of Time and Space try to devour this crystal ball.”

”To have the Artifact devour it directly?” Spencer’s tone changed, his face expressing disbelief as if he thought William had lost his senses for that lady.

”Directly devour it!” William glanced at his foolish cousin, ”It’s primordial power, no one understands it better than that lady.”

Hill understood why William was taking such a risk.

Shaer, who also controlled a weave of magic, had a level of understanding that the Alchemy God of Time and Space, who knew only Alchemy, simply couldn’t compare with.

If she really tampered with it, the God of Time and Space would have perhaps a one percent chance of realizing it.

But what if she did tamper with it?

To the Gods of Time and Space, it would at most mean losing an Artifact that could be recreated.

As for the Undead Tribe, the God of Time and Space could control their Soul Projections because the World Will of their magic-less world allowed it. Even if the Artifact fell under Shaer’s control, it would not affect the Undead Tribe at all.

At worst, they’d just blow up the server and the company would hasten its maintenance before reopening.

Even if the Elemental Body truly disappeared, it wouldn’t matter—they’d simply rebuild it, for they were now skilled workers.

And most importantly, it would not be Teraxil paying the price!

The Elemental Power used for the summoning in Gerns was Gerns’ own.

However, Shaer’s favor simply could not be lost.

That lady would definitely sense whatever had happened to this crystal ball.

Hill took a sidelong glance at William; this man truly understood Shaer’s arrogant and suspicious nature!

So far, he hadn’t made a single mistake.

”Your Majesty the King, you may have guests arriving soon,” Hill remarked lightly after glancing at the large screen.

Two knights and two elves were dragging their weary steps, slowly making their way towards the King’s Palace.

Though their wounds weren’t severe, thanks to that Elf Priest, and the constant descent of Holy Rain from the sky aided their recovery,

the depletion of their physical strength was immense.

Regardless of whether Mephistopheles was buying time, if they couldn’t hold out, the Demon Lord wouldn’t mind killing a few people first.

That they had survived at all was thanks to the strong bolstering capabilities of Miliel’s war song.

Killing that Pope turned devil and cutting off his head wouldn’t have been so easy.

It seemed that the two knights planned to use the devil’s head for a ceremony upon their return, having wrapped it in a filthy rag and tucked it into a ring.

Both William and Hill had a feeling that after the Radiant Knights Order had returned, they must have ignored William’s warning and encountered serious trouble.

The attire of those two Knights was very similar to that of Commander Mason, adding to that, their almost frenzied pursuit of the Pope who acted against the Radiant Knights Order, allowed the two quicker responders to understand the direction things were heading.

”Spencer, do not mention anything about the Radiant Knights Order to our guests,” William decided to remind him as those people descended from the Ice Wall and were heading towards the slope.

Although Spencer wasn’t as quick to react as William and Hill, once William had hinted at it, he quickly understood why those two Knights felt so familiar to him.

Moreover, being able to incite such a frenzied manhunt for the Pope who was pulling the strings from behind, the fate of the Radiant Knights Order must have been tragic indeed.

He sighed softly, ”They were actually good people, just a bit obstinate.”

William looked at the screen nonchalantly, ”I’ve done what I should have. The fact that I bothered to talk to them was because I still had some kindness in me.

I can’t force them to act. Everything depends on their own choices.

One can only say that when one’s brain is not sufficient, at the very least, one should consider whether the advice given by others is useful.

Even if one does not follow it, don’t go against it completely, especially when it holds no harm to oneself.”

Spencer stood up, ”Shall we receive them here, or should we move to an outside location?”

William shook his head, ”First have them wash up and rest! Tell them I will meet with them in an hour’s time.

Do not forget we also have two Elves; we need to give them time to tidy up their appearance.

The location can only be here. Although the Lady of the Lost suppresses them, demons and devils might not necessarily give up on competing for the Primordial Crystal.

Even if it cannot be used for a Weave of Darkness any longer, it is still an extremely valuable item, not inferior to a high-level artifact.

I shall not leave the King’s Palace until we return to the Star Gate.”

Spencer said no more, proceeding directly towards the palace’s main entrance, calling on a few guards to join him in greeting the guests, while another guard went straight to the back palace, presumably heading for the kitchen.

Hill’s residence, being a guest room, was acknowledged by the King as one of his own. His quarters were located behind the King’s Hall.

As Spencer walked out, there was another corridor outside. On the left were some real guest rooms, along with a kitchen specially meant for serving these foreign guests, a laundry room, and a small banquet hall. To the right were rooms for meetings and similar purposes.

Though not extensive, this stone King’s Palace had most of the necessary amenities.

The guard heading to the back palace was likely looking for living automatons.

The rooms outside had been unoccupied for a while and needed cleaning.

And, if these few intended to travel with William’s group, they would need to open areas like the kitchen.

William’s supply of living automatons was surely more than Hill’s, as Fran had sold him a considerable stock before leaving Teraxil.

Hill understood well William’s fondness for living automatons; what single man wouldn’t want an intelligent robot that takes care of all household chores?

The longer one remains single, the more one yearns for it.

For many men, they might brave any adventure or manual labor, but would rather not do laundry or dishes.

”I...” Hill had just started speaking when William stopped him.

The King of Saral said with a wry smile, ”Now is not the time to hold back, Hill.

Although it’s highly unlikely that those four could assassinate or cause any trouble, one must always be prepared for the unexpected.

Rather than anxiously observing, I absolutely trust your instincts.”

Hill sighed and sat back down.

”In fact, I can also understand your reluctance to meet with Elves,” said William earnestly. ”Each encounter with them has never brought you any good, and not even your exceptional luck could ward off the misfortune they bring.

However, those are the Elves of Teraxil. The Elves of the Gerns World might be different, right?

Although all children of Coron, the ones raised by their own kind are still different.

If they were that foolish, they could not have survived to this day.”

Listening to William’s shameless words, Hill couldn’t help but snort coldly, ”Your Majesty, every time! The Elves’ main targets have always been you. And I, have been consistently shielding you from calamity.”

”That’s not entirely true, is it?” William said, gently caressing the Crystal Ball in his hand, chuckling heartily, ”I feel that although Elves have brought you quite a bit of trouble, they have also provided you with many benefits, haven’t they?”

Hill ignored him.

He knew William was referring to the compensation gifts sent by the Elven God King.

But he was not going to tell William what those were!

Hill simply mentioned what he had left in the valley, ”The seeds of the Ancient War Tree and the Tree of Wisdom have been planted there. Under the care of the World Tree, they will grow well.”

”Ah?” William couldn’t help but ask, ”What is the Elven God King thinking? With the World Tree present, even if the Elves set any contingencies in those trees, it would be futile! With these two trees, your valley will be truly safe.”

But William wondered why anyone from Teraxil would bother targeting Hill’s valley at all?

In the starry sky, there were so many deities watching over that place!

William couldn’t quite grasp the logic of the Elven God King. Was it because he thought Hill wouldn’t need them so he just gave them away casually?

But weren’t those the Elves’ heirlooms?

Wouldn’t Coron go straight there to thrash that foolish son?
