Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 569: Chapter 367: Lucky Lad William

Although the God of Singing’s words truly enraged the devils, his main purpose was to tell his teammates that even if he died, he would just be returning to his original form and they need not grieve for him.

Miliel’s teammates quickly understood what he meant and finally set their minds at ease to give the pope a thorough thrashing.

After all, they still had Miliel’s blessings on them! If they couldn’t kill the Devil King, could they not take down a mere lackey?

The elf archers had already fired several volleys, and they finally found the devil’s weak point.

The fight would probably be over in a few minutes.

As for that companion who said everything but the truth, since he wouldn’t die, who would bother with him!

The God of Singing visibly relaxed, he wasn’t really without attack spells, just slower, and most of them entangling.

But as long as his teammates didn’t come back to their deaths, Miliel could happily end this journey.

He never thought to take this incarnation back with him, knowing from the start that this was a one-way trip.

Now, what he worried most about was that Shaer wouldn’t leave him even a sliver of soul light memory.

If that were the case, he looked toward his teammates with some regret, he wouldn’t remember these companions with whom he’d shared so much time.

This had nothing to do with whether or not he was a deity, he truly wanted to keep these wonderful memories.

Yet Mephistopheles, driven by rage from the God of Singing’s taunts, nearly turned into a man of fire, and without any hesitation, charged at Miliel. This guy just wanted to see him die first, didn’t he?

He’d beat this singing fool half to death first, then Shaer wouldn’t necessarily know who to strike first!

His thoughts were quite optimistic.

But he overlooked just how much Shaer hated those who dared to invade her Shadow Weave.

Miliel was very aware that Shaer would not make him her first target.

For the Goddess of Darkness, even the slightest soul light from the Demon Lord’s incarnation returning to his original form would not be spared.

The Shadow Weave was the forbidden ground she least tolerates being touched, touch it and die.

She wouldn’t let the devil leave easily with his research on the Shadow Weave.

Sure enough, Mephistopheles’ arm, just lifted, was bound by endless black strands.

Shaer had enough of this play, seizing the moment the Demon Lord lost his reasoning to strike decisively and directly.

A bolt of lightning streaked across the night sky, everyone saw the light, but they all felt the lightning was black.

It was a darkness deeper than the night itself, whether through the eyes or the Mental Sea, Hill knew it was the purest black.

Mephistopheles’ huge head flew into the air, his angry face still full of questions. The Demon Lord truly didn’t expect Shaer to leave him no room for discussion.

No matter how many schemes or sweet words he had, Shaer didn’t care or want to listen.

What could the devil say? She had dealt with them before, and of course, found them quite charming when she wanted to listen, but now, she didn’t want to anymore.

She indeed liked conspiracies and was used to scheming with devils and even demons against Suren and Mystra, but when it came to her foundation, not even Mephistopheles saying he had a way to kill Suren would get Shaer’s attention.

”That’s a wheel blade, right?” William said quietly in awe, ”Indeed very powerful, the Demon Lord’s neck was so easily sliced through.”

Spencer watched the scene with a serious expression, paying no heed to his King.

He had always been puzzled by the strength William spoke of, since Coron, though impressive at the time, had never made a move.

This time, he, along with the members of the King’s Guard next to him, finally witnessed the divine power recognized by the heavens and the universe.

Miliel and his squad fought the Demon Lord for so long, although it was because Mephistopheles didn’t use his full strength, the power of both sides was still clear.

Despite the cost, everyone was certain that the King of Saral could take down that incarnation of the devil.

Everyone knew of Shaer’s strength, but exactly how strong was only now witnessed for the first time.

It was a strength that could strip one of all will to resist.

The black tendrils in the sky constantly extended and retracted, capturing that last bit of soul light from the Demon Lord after much effort and directly consuming it.

Horrible screams echoed through the air, misery that reached deep into the soul, and all within ten thousand miles could hear it, blocking ears was useless.

Even though it was just an incarnation, it was still a sliver of the Demon Lord’s soul.

At this moment, Hill envied the Undead Tribe, who as projections, heard nothing.

Hill looked up at the sky, ”Why doesn’t Mephistopheles himself intervene? His body should be outside, right? Just watching his own incarnation being killed, even the Soul Light swallowed up?”

William replied indifferently, ”The one outside would just be another of his incarnations too, maybe just existing longer, a bit stronger than the one inside.

Mephistopheles certainly won’t leave the Eight-layer Hell, he indeed is one of the stronger Demon Lords, but he also has the most enemies.

The Flying Insect Lord is his most stubborn foe, and he’s got allies. If he dares to come out, his enemies will no longer be the Lady but a coalition of several Demon Lords.”

Amid the creepy ’crunching’ sounds of chewing, Shaer smiled lightly, ”Miliel, how would you like to die?”

The God of Singing remained nonchalant, smiling suavely, ”Respected Lady of the Lost, could you make my death a little more clear?”

Shaer sneered, and amidst the gasps of her teammate Miliel, she lopped off his head in one swift strike.

Hill closed his eyes and did not watch Miliel’s end. Although the guy wasn’t really dead and his manner of death wasn’t that revolting, being a deity of the Kind Alignment, Hill felt he should maintain some decorum.

He needed to leave room for possibly meeting again in the future.

Nonetheless, it was clear that Goddess Shaer quite enjoyed beheading.

The blade that spun like a wheel was truly cruel.

When Shaer’s laughter was heard, the giant spider on the bell tower leaped into the rift in the sky with her trophy, not looking back as she fled.

The Undead Tribe had finished off the remaining devils, and waited in silent anticipation for the goddess who seemed very formidable to speak.

But Shaer merely said indifferently, ”Let’s go,” and then there was no more sound from her.

Hill stood up and walked to the window. The dark moon on the horizon seemed to shine much brighter as the black threads that had once shrouded it suddenly vanished.

Shaer had returned to her world.

Whatever other thoughts she may have had for this world, she had now given them up.

Hill turned to look at William on the throne and couldn’t help but smile: the Goddess of Darkness really did give her devotees face!

William glanced at Hill and also stood up, walking over.

He looked up at the starry sky, the night was fading and the Black Moon’s outline became clearer and clearer, its conqueror had abandoned it, returning it to Gerns.

”She’s left, huh?” William sounded slightly regretful, ”What a pity. I never got to see the lady’s true form.”

Shaer always dwelled in the Shadow Plane and rarely entered the Material Plane. The only thing that could probably coax her out voluntarily was her twin sister, Suren.

Most deities of the Silvermoon aligned with chaotic good, but if their deity from Teraxil ranked as a one on the scale of chaos, Suren was a clear nine.

Their Silvermoon deity from Teraxil, at least, could be reasoned with and would consider allies’ thoughts when issues arose.

Suren, however, managed to degrade herself from power comparable to Shaer’s to the wretched state of needing to sneak around to avoid Shaer.

Hill’s repeated cautions to Agleya were because he was very familiar with Suren’s history of decline and self-destruction. Chaotic evil might betray others, but chaotic good often betrayed themselves.

Fortunately, his little daughter was well-behaved.

Hill glanced at the pendant in which Alice was sleeping with a crystal around Agleya, their relationship seemed to have really improved.

William began to instruct the Undead Tribe to prepare for entering the Royal Capital. He also needed to find the control center of the Weave.

Despite sounding like an actual network, except for the center, this so-called web existed between illusion and reality.

If it were ordinary water, it wouldn’t affect the Weave at all.

In this world, the only thing that could affect both reality and illusion was the Water of Purification from the Sea of Elements.

”Ah?” William suddenly paused, as the top of his Royal Palace opened up again.

A black and white Crystal Ball fell into his raised hand.

The Crystal Ball was peculiar and mysterious, swirling with rainbow hues within.

Upon seeing it for the first time, Hill understood why Mephistopheles had found this world.

It was a piece of the Primordial Crystal, born at the dawn of the world.

Just like the Goddess of Magic, who was born from the strife between the two Primordial Deities, Shaer and Suren, only primordial power could control the Weave.

A Primordial Crystal might not appear even in thousands of worlds.

The Gerns World was lucky to have one, but also unfortunate that a devil discovered it first when the World Will was still dormant at its creation.

Luck is indeed an elusive thing.

Sometimes even with great fortune, without the ability to digest it, it could lead to more brutal consequences.

But now, the crystal belonged to William.

For Shaer, who was herself a Primordial Goddess, the Primordial Crystal held no value beyond its beauty; she could create one herself if she wished.

Besides, this was a flawed piece bathed in Elemental Water and incapable of using Shadow Magic Power.

But it was different for other deities; it was a precious object to them.

Shaer did not know whether the onlookers outside would see it and come down immediately to fight over it with this small boy she found quite pleasing; moreover, although Rose had fled, her subordinates were still around, and Rose could return at any time.

So Shaer just went ahead and dug out the crystal and gave it to this lovely boy.

The gifts she gave were not dared to be brazenly snatched by those deities, no matter how bold they were.

William was somewhat stunned, but still naturally spoke, ”I thank the generous Shaer; may you forever wield power, with elegance, nobility, and beauty.”
