Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 573: Chapter 371 The Female Elf in Hysterics

William and Hill couldn’t be certain whether Coron, the great deity, was indifferent to the nonsensical gossip about his personal affairs among his people or whether it was something he didn’t care about regardless of who was discussing it.

However, given his behavior in Teraxil, they felt it was best to maintain their silence for the time being.

In the presence of their host, who could only remain silent, and under the stunned gaze of their dumbfounded companions, the two elves, seemingly realizing they had said too much for humans to bear, exchanged a puzzled look before finally starting their parting words: they thanked His Majesty the King for being willing to bring them back to the center of the world, which was now very close to the Green Leaf Forest.

The knights also formally thanked His Majesty King William once more for agreeing to shelter the other members of the Radiant Knights Order, swearing to William that they would not allow anyone problematic to enter his Star Gate base.

William nodded, telling the two knights not to worry too much, for the purification of the Magic Kingdom’s territory had already begun.

If they didn’t wish to enter the highly structured Star Gate base, commoners could completely opt to live in other cities of the Magic Kingdom, which, after the removal of citizens from the Evil Faction, were now in dire need of new inhabitants.

Then he quietly instructed Spencer to make sure the guests were well looked after.

Hill watched the knights, who quickly went through the formalities and left with the elves, and silently offered them his sympathy.

The two knights had entirely forgotten their inner pain and only wished to quickly leave with their companions.

William did not detain them for long, wisely giving the two knights and his elven companions time to communicate, which may have been futile but was necessary nonetheless.

Standing by the door, Spencer swiftly presented the returning gifts with his guard: various rare potions and Elemental Crystal boxes.

Then, along with the guards, he saw the guests back to their rooms for rest.

The hall quickly quieted down, with Spencer’s graceful voice gradually fading away.

William sat upright on his throne, forgetting to even move his hand that rested upon the crystal.

These guests had no fundamental issues, not even sparing a glance at the Primordial Crystal beneath his subordinates’ watch.

William’s test had yielded quite favorable results.

But their behavior was just a bit too individualistic.

Were these the pure elves? William wasn’t sure if the elves from Teraxil were better.

After all, they knew how to judge the situation.

Those elves were arrogant yet somewhat cowardly, just like the Elven God King.

Many things, however unbelievable at the time, seemed understandable in hindsight.

The elves of Teraxil, as long as one was stronger than them, that was sufficient; if they found themselves at a disadvantage, they maintained their composure without fail.

William actually thought this wasn’t too bad, and even if a new Human God emerged, as long as the pressure from the Elf Deity System persisted, the infighting among the Human Deities would surely be contained within certain limits.

Moreover, unless something significant occurred, forcing the Sun, Moon, Earth, and Sea God to close off their Divine Kingdoms, those four deities would undoubtedly tend to side with humans over elves.

Teraxil could visibly ensure peace for over ten thousand years, and even if those elves reappeared on the land, they wouldn’t stir up trouble that could endanger the world.

But these Green Leaf Elves really caught William off guard.

As for the behavior of the two knights of the Radiant Knights Order, William had been prepared. Whoever caught the eye of the God of Singing was definitely a decent person.

It was almost the traditional Holy Knight style.

As long as William behaved like a king of the correct faction, there would be no problem.

But as for the elves, their thoughts leapt in ways he simply couldn’t follow!

Hill silently observed William for a long time and, seeing that he still appeared incredulous, couldn’t help but ask, ”Has our Elven God King really not shattered your lowest expectations for elves, Your Majesty?

Elves and humans have always thought differently.

Don’t forget, the Elven God King wasn’t bothered in the least by residents discussing his romantic affairs, which in their mind is not a substantial matter.

If it’s done, it’s something that can be talked about; that’s probably the norm for elves!

Your Majesty, why are you still so surprised?”

William turned his head to look at Hill, ”Their romantic troubles don’t seem to always resolve perfectly, so they really don’t mind being talked about?

And deities, they can hear, you know!

This involves calling out names directly!

Even if they don’t fuss over every person who talks about them like the God of Nobility, they can’t possibly tolerate their followers gossiping about their personal affairs every day, right?”

”You’ve seen how erratic elven thinking can be,” Hill said calmly, ”so their love comes quickly and goes just as fast.

Conflicts arise typically when neither party intends to end the romantic game at the same time.

Even if they marry, they’ll easily fall for someone else and then end the marriage.

Relationship issues have never been the focus of elves.

That priestess’s point of concern wasn’t even about the Elven God King’s background but what he did to be expelled from the Elven Divine Realm, right?

As to why the God of the Elves doesn’t care about these matters, how would I know?

What I’m aware of are the common beliefs of elves, not their history. And the majority of that comes from the Moon Elves.

Their understanding of elves, I didn’t even bother to inspect closely; it’s all wrong without a doubt.

Maybe they’re just accustomed to the elves’ unrestrained ways, and usually, they simply ignore such direct-naming behavior.”

”Shouldn’t the wording be different when praying?”

”His Majesty the King should be more aware of these matters than I am!”

William sighed, ”Although the elves here are very comforting to be around, truly blending with nature, lush with greenery, communicating with them can be somewhat tiresome.

I have not yet ascended to the Divine Kingdom, and I still do not know to what extent Divine Fire can be utilized.

The God of Time and Space completely rejects faith and has thoroughly shielded himself from external designations.

If I need to speak to him, I must go directly to his Temple or church.”

William glanced at Hill again.

Before he could speak, Hill got up to leave, ”Before I return to the Star Gate, I must seclude myself to contemplate some issues. Your Majesty should also rest early and think about how to deal with this Weave, right?”

He had no interest in dealing with elves!

William wanted to say something, but Hill saw through it at a glance.

The Elven Priestess clearly had a high regard for Hill; she even believed that the most xenophobic Wild Elves would get along amicably with Hill.

If Hill were to interact with them, it would surely be easy.

But Hill was not William’s subordinate and had no intention of taking on troublesome matters himself.

William nodded helplessly. Since Hill had already expressed his unwillingness, it was best to bring a few from the Undead Tribe instead!

His concern was that the Undead might not be able to control the extent of their speech and would blurt out anything and everything.

He had to save some face for Coron, who was still waiting outside Gerns!

Looking at Spencer, who had returned, William tentatively asked but was flatly refused.

The other guards, of too low level and inadequate status, were not fit to receive a Demigod.

William had no choice but to have Spencer issue a reception task limited to certain levels: many of the Undead were already nearing their level cap. With a high concentration of elements in their bodies, they were on the verge of breaking through to Legendary status, making their identity and status well-suited to welcome guests.

But these individuals were also amongst those who had been with William from the beginning and knew everything that had happened in Teraxil.

William had no intention of silencing them, as it would be futile; not mentioning it might result in them speaking less, but bringing it up would only lead them to find more ways to share even more elaborate jokes.

It’s not like swearing, which could be directly censored.

William sighed. Once the Capital was in order, he would expedite building the Temple and the Teleportation Array and then depart! The Undead wouldn’t give up leveling just for a reception task.

Especially those who were a hair’s breadth from max level.

He had spent a lot of effort to make this level cap seem close at hand yet still far in the distance.

Once the Weave was ready, he could issue class change tasks.

After returning to his room, Hill took out the Alchemy Table.

Although the environment here was not suitable for more delicate work, he could still rough out some material preparations.

He took a Mithril Sphere out of his pendant; a Mithril of the size of two of his heads was quite heavy, and he found it somewhat burdensome even with one hand.

Hill placed it on the Alchemy Table, and sensing the table sink instantly, he hurriedly activated a Gravity Spell Array.

It wouldn’t be good to damage the floor.

With a Meteorite File Knife in hand, he began to slowly grind the Mithril Stone.

Hill intended to carve countless small facets into this Mithril Ore, a huge undertaking, but necessary to create the Alchemy Equipment he envisioned.

He granted Alice access to come in and out of the pendant.

Previously, it was not possible, but now either List or the Oak had the power to escort Alice in and out of the pendant.

His work was likely to continue for many days, and he had already hung a ”Do Not Disturb” sign on the door; Alice might want to come out and see him.

Hill bowed his head and slowly continued to grind, blade by blade. What about the outside world? It had nothing to do with him.

After much thought, William decided to return to his own room to research the Primordial Crystal.

Once, the God of Time and Space had tried everything to make him consider what kind of Divine Artifact to make and how to make it, but he brushed it off with a laugh.

As long as someone else was working on it, William had no desire to engage in such scientific research.

But now, he was eager.

Spencer hesitated but ultimately did not stop William’s sly departure.

After all, he was just a service provider, and there were many things he was not qualified to manage; what the elves and the Undead discussed was something he could stay silent about.

Besides, with the King away, he could close the King’s Hall and only go out when necessary.

They were right to be cautious.

Spencer, leaning against the door of the King’s Hall, listened to the laughter and joy outside.

The Elven Priestess was excitedly inquiring the Undead about what the Elven God King had been up to.

And when she heard that Coron was cleaning up the mess for his son, her laughter nearly turned into a cackling goose.—
