Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 580: Chapter 378 The Official Start of the Legendary Trial

Fortunately, Spencer’s book seemed thick, but its content wasn’t worth reading that much.

It was a textbook that could be used to train from Knight Squire all the way to Legendary.

Spencer mainly discussed the initial direction of training and did not intend to detail each step.

What he really wanted to convey was that knights must choose virtues that align with their beliefs and then uphold that virtue for life.

Do not betray your own heart; otherwise, it is impossible to tread the path to Legendary status.

In short, knights only needed to adhere to the beliefs within their hearts, stick to the laws they had chosen, and no longer had to kneel before deities.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, realizing that even Spencer probably couldn’t understand how crazy it would be for common people to get their hands on a universal method of training.

He believed that there would definitely be villages of knights in the future, all practicing the same virtue.

As long as one cultivated this belief from a young age and followed the successful path laid out by their predecessors step by step, they could become beings that transcend mortals, and no one would pass up that opportunity.

Some might be too poor to advance to higher levels, but they would certainly learn nonetheless.

Only those who have spent years at the bottom understand how precious such a fair means of ascent is; what if someone has talents?

Before, they never had the chance to pursue that ”what if.”

Even selling oneself to the Temple or Nobles, unless by great fortune, how could they possibly get the chance to test their aptitudes?

Conversely, Mages liked to have their servants learn a bit about the Knight Squire heritage since Mage Masters never felt that knights were a profession worth treasuring and valuing.

But Mages were still of noble birth; they typically chose their servants from within their own family staffing.

For regular citizens, including slaves, learning some skills was extremely difficult.

Hill was very clear that since William had let Spencer announce the Guardian Knight’s training heritage in this manner, he wouldn’t expect the Undead Tribe to keep it a secret.

And that thick pamphlet had likely already become one of the e-books readily available on the Undead Tribe’s tablets for study.

Hill certainly believed in the Undead Tribe’s speed of dissemination; anyone who wanted to buy the book from them would find them more than willing to spend the bit of Mana necessary for the Transcription Technique.

Besides, to them, even a small mosquito was still flesh; most of the Undead Tribe wouldn’t let the opportunity to earn a copper coin that was handed right to them slip away.

Spencer finally closed the thick book solemnly performed a Knight’s salute, and stepped out of the screen.

Hill sighed, this knight had completely abandoned his noble status. Given his usual shrewdness, he surely knew the kind of consequences his actions today would bring.

The nobility would indeed still be nobles—this was the military exploits fought for by their ancestors, the reward they deserved.

But nobles would just be nobles nothing more. Beyond the honor, if they wanted anything else, they’d have to strive for it themselves and could no longer be the overwhelming lords they once were.

The future Teraxil would likely become a world for soldiers and politicians.

William suddenly appeared on the giant screen.

Hill blinked; this live broadcast probably took place in the small palace up front, and William had just teleported out using Spatial Magic.

It seemed he had many things to attend to.

Indeed, without the God of Time and Space, the trials for the Undead Tribe to ascend to Legendary status could only be arranged by William and the Divine Artifact.

But knowing William’s nature, he would surely make the Legendary trials for the Undead Tribe shave off several of their layers.

With a smile on his face, he didn’t intend to keep anyone guessing and said bluntly, ”Brothers and sisters from the Undead Tribe, thank you for standing with me through victory after victory.

However, our enemies are growing stronger, while our power has reached its limit.

Thanks to the beautiful and powerful Goddess Shaer, with her help, we now have the hope to break through this limit.

Now, after completing the trials of Legend Net, the Undead Tribe can ascend to Legendary status.

Of course, you must reach your limit before you have the chance to break through.

It is a difficult path, multitude of thorns blocking the way forward, but I still hope that you will continue to walk with me.

Those who are max-level can go to the palace up front to apply with the Captain of the Guard.”

When the light of the giant screen faded, the Silence Magic Array had already been lifted.

The Undead Tribe could no longer bother cursing William, as a huge wave of noise stirred up in the valley.

It seemed, apart from a particularly dedicated few, most didn’t even have a chance to begin the trials.

Of course, with the huge number of people in the Undead Tribe, even a small percentage meant there could still be around a couple hundred thousand at max-level.

William was really quite impressive he had truly managed to control the Undead Tribe’s experience bar until after the Magic Kingdom was cleared, and only then did the Undead start having members reach max-level.

And the reason there were so many tens of thousands of them was because they had already cleared most of the Country of Dark Moon.

Had William not hinted that summoning them back this time was to start the quest for a Legendary job change, the Undead might have wanted to see exactly how the job change worked and what the requirements were; otherwise, they wouldn’t have bothered taking such a long journey back!

Many of the Undead also considered that they could head straight to the other half of the Dark Moon Kingdom from here without making such a long trek; otherwise, some who were far from max-level had no intention of coming back and instead planned to take advantage of the absence to grab more Experience Packs that’s what they needed to do.

People in the valley were discussing loudly, of course, and there were also those who reacted more swiftly and rushed toward the small palace ahead.

However, not many people had gone through it in the past, probably only around 10,000 to 20,000.

Most people seemed to want to wait and see, since it was clear just from hearing about it that the Legendary trials must be very difficult.

This was not like the games of the past, where those with poor skills could find someone else to play for them.

Many people who were just muddling along weren’t even familiar with their own skills, so it’s estimated they couldn’t possibly get through a trial that even the officials acknowledged as highly challenging.

As expected, after half an hour, a large number of resurrection glows lit up; more than half of the first batch who rushed into the trial grounds had died.

Hill heard a very loud voice from among the Undead Tribe squatting in front of his small building: ”As expected, the ones who are both trash at the game and addicted rush in the fastest.”

That voice sounded a bit familiar to him.

Hill quietly peeked out and saw that the people from Black Rose were all gathered there!

The speaker seemed to be ’Old Age Striking King’, this Female Priest who always liked to be blunt.

”Did Snow Old Dog go in?” she turned her head to ask ’Perfect Bald’, who was standing by her side, ”Isn’t that guy always keen to be first?”

”He was among the first to die and come out,” someone replied. ”Probably only lasted a tad longer than those who don’t even know how to use their skills.”

”If it weren’t for the excuse of scouting for the Alliance, how could he even live, yo~” ’Perfect Bald’ said sentimentally, ”Old Dog will never realize how poor his skills are.

He’s quickly becoming a famous joke in our Alliance.

Indeed, Heaven is fair; it gave him a cunning mind, then took away his limbs.”

”Should we go ask Old Dog about the trial content?” ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ asked.

”Why bother with him? He probably died to the minions without even seeing the boss’s face,” ’Old Age Striking King’ said decisively. ”The Young Master also went in; let’s wait and ask him! He definitely recorded everything.”

”That’s true, the Young Master only has this advantage, his hands are always quicker than his mind,” ’Cunlü’ chimed in.

”Why are you suddenly talking about the Young Master like this?” ’Brother Guai’ asked curiously. ”Didn’t you guys just play together the other time?”

”Cunlü was asking him which full-phase school is a better choice,” ’Hard Wind’ said with a giggle. ”The Young Master mentioned a few, all military schools.”

Everyone else fell silent.

They all thought that Cunlü’s little girl could only be kept in line by a military school in the future!

”Actually, I think military school is not bad, my little princess is both beautiful and cute,” ’Hard Wind’ said, nearly gleaming with excitement. ”If she goes to a military school, she’ll learn some fighting skills, and then I, as her dad, won’t have to worry about her safety!”

”Get lost!” ’Cunlü’ thundered angrily. ”If I go to ask the Young Master, it’s of course because I want my girl to learn the arts! Not some damn boxing!”

”No, no!” ’Hard Wind’ rarely directly opposed ’Cunlü’, ”A beautiful girl should of course have the ability to fight back, and what’s wrong with a bit more muscle? Stronger means healthier!”

The others quietly left, not wanting to get involved in such a petty marital spat.

Hill even wanted to close the windows; he couldn’t tell if the couple was arguing or just flaunting their love and torturing singles.

The first wave of people, those who came out last, should all be fairly capable, having persisted for over an hour, but still failed.

A lot of them planned to launch into the second round straight away, but the ’Young Master’ who wanted to dive back in was grabbed by a bunch of people and dragged straight into Hill’s Mushroom Shop.

Hill finally realized why these people were standing around here.

The Array that only allowed friendly factions to enter, overlapped by two houses, marked out an area around the building.

According to the characteristics of this valley, all the people from their whole Alliance could stand inside it.

The Undead Tribe has always been good at exploiting loopholes, so they simply made Hill’s place their base of operations.

As for the Scattered Ones, to be honest, no solo player would run to where a major PVP gang was, unless they were a spy.

If everyone were scattered, perhaps a spy could blend in, but now, it was clear they were standing together as families.

A person not recognized by any family, scrutinized by tens of thousands of eyes, couldn’t really stay.

But what Hill really didn’t understand was the point of them doing this.

Spies from the Scattered Ones, in reality, were much less than those from their own families.

Was it just to show that this matter was worthy of attention, so they simply created an atmosphere of solemnity?

After all, even though the ’Young Master’ was pulled into the Mushroom House, his loud voice could still be heard through the windows that were obviously not closed.

The people outside could hear everything crystal clear.

”Didn’t I broadcast the whole thing live?” the Young Master shouted discontentedly. ”You all saw it, why still ask me!

Maybe I could succeed if I tried one more time, the boss at the end is too cunning!

Snow Old Dog died right at the beginning?

What’s there to ask? The mobs inside are basically of Sky Knight level; it would be good enough if Old Dog could even defeat one in a one-on-one fight.

Can’t you stop using that failure as a standard?”
