Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 555: Chapter 354: The Star Gate Reopens, The Sudden Returnee

Although this city is considered a large one, it still couldn’t accommodate tens of millions from the Undead Tribe.

Despite the bustling activity on the ground, in reality, not many Mages had fallen, most were densely packed flying in the air, watching others draw patterns.

As for Priests, apart from some males, the girls all remained outside the city.

Perhaps it’s because girls are often easily moved by crying, even though they knew there were many Experience Babies in the city, they still gave up on the mission to enter the city on their own.

Even many Knights and Swordsmen, who felt they might be swayed by the pleas of the city’s citizens, stayed behind.

Even though in their hearts these were all NPCs, and red names were inherently targets for killing, there were still some who couldn’t bring themselves to do it.

From Saral to Central City, these Undead girls, who once spared the indigenous people due to their wailing and weeping only to end up with more trouble, still couldn’t control their compassion but managed to look away and ignore it.

Everyone who had spared a red name pleading for mercy had been issued a tracking quest by William.

In the fantasy world’s Evil Faction, it’s not as simple as being a murderer; even the crime of massacre wouldn’t turn one’s name deep red.

For many in the Undead Tribe, this was truly a shocking education.

They might still be soft-hearted towards those who cry, but they had learned to look away and ignore them, leaving the more resolute ones to deal with the situation. Isn’t the advantage of the Undead Tribe their numbers?

So they simply chose to stay outside the city.

Seeing that the affairs within the city were almost handled, most of the Undead Tribe didn’t linger and bypassed the city, choosing to continue moving forward. After all, combat was easier for them.

If they were battling against Demons and Devils, all the better. The Undead truly preferred the Abyss and Hell, where they could fight without restraint.

Unlike the now desolate world center, here there was a straight road leading towards the direction of the Royal Capital of the Magic Kingdom.

There was no need to worry about losing one’s way, nor concern about another overpowering guide falling from the sky. The Undead set off gleefully along the road.

They hardly ever stopped, although every city they passed would leave behind tens of thousands of the Undead who didn’t want to continue. Yet, most people still pressed forward with determination.

Hill only checked the progress of the Undead at the Royal Palace each day, spending most of his time in the shop.

Quite a few of the Undead had already died and returned, generally those who were the first to charge. Among these were many who were aware that Hill was collecting books and materials in his store.

Hill even received several High-level Magic Books.

He had just opened one to take a glance, but quickly shut the Magic Book using his strong willpower.

The Devil, at this moment, wasn’t concealing its presence anymore!

Most of the Magic Book was already written purely in Hellish inscriptions!

Hill bit his own tongue tip, letting the slight pain serve as a warning to himself.

The memory of a Legendary Mage was very good, almost to the point of never forgetting anything he saw; he hadn’t expected that it would become a pitfall for him this time.

The spells written in Devil’s script repeatedly surfaced in his mind, and even though the light of Silvermoon steadied Hill’s Mental Sea and the radiance of the Sun God continuously purified his spiritual power, Hill could still recall the casting method of the spell clearly.

Hill entered meditation without hesitation, intent on thoroughly shattering the Magic Model, ensuring that he would never cast this spell under any circumstances.

This was a perilous war; Hill’s Mental Sea had always been sturdy, yet this time he had to personally agitate and cut it, which was exceedingly difficult.

Every strike caused Hill great pain, and even he, who was normally tolerant to pain, couldn’t help but groan.

But he did succeed in erasing the spell completely from his Mental Sea.

Hill took a long breath and collapsed on the living room floor motionless.

After lying there for over ten minutes, Hill got up.

In this world, he had seldom sweated so much now that he was grown up; it was even a bit rancid.

Hill walked difficultly to the bathroom, falling directly into the bathtub. Thankfully, the puppet Fran had provided was highly intelligent; he only wished to thoroughly enjoy a bath.

He didn’t soak for long. Feeling his spirit restored, Hill securely sealed the Magic Books and took them straight to the Royal Palace.

Hill didn’t even let Spencer handle them, instead he gave them directly to William, ”Your Majesty the King, these books, I’m not sure how to deal with them, they’re all written in the Hellish script of Devils.

Their allure is incredibly strong.

Just one glance may cause uncontrollable use of the magic within, and once used, that equates to signing a contract with Devils.

Use it too much, and the soul cannot possibly remain intact.”

”I understand,” William took the books and was silent for a while, then summoned a spatial rift, ”The God of Time and Space told me it’s best I don’t look either, just throw these things to Coron.

He’s watching outside this universe!”

Indeed, William couldn’t make a spatial rift appear in an exact location, but simply sending it in a fixed direction was no problem.

As long as William added his Divine Power, Coron couldn’t possibly miss it.

”Is there no way to destroy them?” Spencer asked, furrowing his brows. ”Should I inform the Undead Tribe?”

”They seem unaffected,” William shook his head, ”We just shouldn’t look.”

The script of Hell affects the soul, yet the souls of the Undead Tribe simply can’t perceive that kind of evil characteristic.

To the devils, they are no different from mechanical puppets, the undead of the Abyss are even more valuable than the Undead Tribe.

Hill glanced at William, ”Why would His Majesty the King also be in danger? The devils can’t influence deities, right?”

”How could there be no influence at all?” William said with a wry smile, ”It’s just that it’s relatively easy for deities to dispel this influence, but if they are not vigilant enough, they’ll be in big trouble.

The naturally born deities of the Gerns World, aren’t they just so unlucky?

The Sun God, who was killed by demons, probably didn’t even unleash half of his strength.

The same goes for the World Will of Gerns, after being stripped of the half that was influenced by the devils, its mutilated state was dozens of times more severe than that of Teraxil.”

Hill nodded in understanding—no wonder Gerns was so eager to welcome the deities from the Otherworld.

”When does His Majesty the King plan to depart?” Hill asked curiously, ”I’ll go along too.”

”Soon,” William replied with a smile, ”Once they encounter the first city that can’t be taken down immediately, I’ll follow the helplessly returning Undead Tribe over there.

Coming to this world, I wasn’t just here to watch the Undead Tribe fight.

I have my own mission.”

Hill bowed his head, just like everyone else in the hall, showing respect to the king.

Then, he translated silently in his heart, When the Undead Tribe encounters a large number of demons of Demigod Level, they might not win and many will likely die. At that time, as Teraxil’s top force in reinforcements, William will have to depart with the resurrected Undead Tribe and personally put an end to these demons.

As long as the resistance forces of the City of Magic are human, William doesn’t plan to intervene. The humans of this world wouldn’t think the visitors from Teraxil were there to save them, but invaders instead.

However, once High-level Demons appear in their cities, they’ll realize that the Undead Tribe’s vociferous proclamations of the Gerns World Will asking for their aid in saving this world are true.

By then, the intervention of William, given his Divinity of fairness and justice, will certainly be endorsed, including the will of the deities of each faction within Teraxil—it will become much easier for these humans to accept them.

The World Will of Gerns, though devastated, at least imprinted deep within its own World Rules and core consciousness is the subconscious notion that devils and demons are evil and unwelcome in this world.

If it were a world completely given over to evil, then even the humans would take pride in becoming demons and willingly assimilate into the Abyss.

But for such a world, neither the World Tree nor Coron would choose to save it in this manner, only to fight against the devils or demons who made such a mess and see if they could directly destroy that world.

The reason why these two deities are so concerned with the worlds they’ve created is that they’ve used their own essence in each creation.

If too many worlds fell into the Abyss, it would not only affect their Divine Power, but it could also harm their Divine Souls.

They create worlds to make themselves stronger—not to cause themselves trouble.

That day did not come late.

The Undead Tribe, about to reach the Capital of the City of Magic, suffered a severe blow from the devils at the Capital Guardian City.

Legions of Intermediate Demons and the towering forms of High-level Demons, and even more than a dozen Deep Prison Demon Refining, resulted in the Undead Tribe losing one-fifth of their number at the first encounter.

This was the most disastrous defeat for the Undead Tribe since arriving in Gerns.

Hill, staying in his room, could already hear the uproar throughout the camp, with endless cursing.

He quietly slipped out the door and entered his small shop.

Sure enough, Undead Tribe members soon came in cursing and grumbling, selling items—it was truly their only consolation, especially when seeing those from the Undead Tribe who were not particularly friendly towards Hill could only sell their spoils to William at a discount.

The Undead Tribe in Hill’s place quickly became the envy of others, proudly gloating. They finally were in the mood to chat and shoot the breeze.

It wasn’t long before Hill heard from them that William had issued an order to depart three days later with the second wave of the Undead Tribe.

Hill was stunned—had he already been in this world for three months?

Time really flies.

With mixed feelings, Hill awaited the opening of the Star Gate once more.

These past few days had seen Hill sealing away a fair number of Magic Books, and William, gathering a large bundle, had cast them to Coron.

He stood on the balcony of his loft watching as hordes of Undead Tribe poured out of the Star Gate.

If there were nearly a hundred million Undead in Gerns before, this time the number truly exceeded a hundred million—and then some.

William didn’t give these Undead much time to adjust, immediately issuing an order to set out early the next morning.

The grand royal carriage took its place at the very front of the procession.

As for Hill, he received quite the fright.

He held the suddenly bouncing transparent kitty in his arms, trying to remain composed as he stepped onto his own carriage.
