Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 554: Chapter 353 Easy Victory

Perhaps it was this very tune that had a truly addictive quality.

The Undead Tribe hadn’t even paused, as they charged toward the walls of the Magic Kingdom, singing songs.

Someone had changed the lyrics again, ”Big brother, if you dare fight back, oh~ watch out for your skin~ Big brother, if you jump off the building, oh~ watch out for your hooves~”

Marching with cheerful steps and accompanied by a rhythmic beat, the Undead Tribe fearlessly surged toward the wall.

The dense swarm of mages that took to the sky left the people of the Magic Kingdom in utter despair.

They hadn’t considered asking for the surrender of the Magic Kingdom’s people, after all, they desired the experience packs, and missing even one pained their hearts.

Hill saw that William had already taken his seat upon his throne, striking a beat with his legs crossed.

Spencer looked at him helplessly and then turned to Hill, managing a strained smile, ”His Majesty the King has always treated you as one of his own, so relax a bit, Hill!”

Hill could only respond with a smile and nod, ”I know.” He focused his attention on the giant screen, not wanting to see His Majesty the King behind him tapping to the tune.

Hill felt that William’s only restraint was that he had not yet sung along with the Undead Tribe in front of the full hall of people.

If it were just him and Spencer, he would definitely have sung along!

The Undead Tribe took over the city at a rapid pace; the well-informed high nobility had already fled, leaving only the clueless civilians, abandoned soldiers, and low-ranking officers.

In the face of the Undead Tribe’s assault, not once did an effective defense form on the city walls.

”Did they already know that the Great Demon was standing guard outside?” Spencer, seated beside Hill, quickly understood.

After all, he was a military leader born of great nobility, and it didn’t take him long to analyze the situation on the other side.

He looked at Hill, puzzled, and asked, ”Isn’t it said that devils are a bit better than demons? So why is it still like this?”

”Devils are extremely selfish creatures, and so are their subordinates,” Hill frowned, ”Their so-called order also hinges on it not affecting their own interests.

Evil is just evil.

Demons may act in ways that harm others and not benefit themselves, simply out of a moment’s whim or a sudden thought, something a normal person simply cannot fathom.

But devils, despite being cunning and concealing their deeds, they’ll commit murder and arson for their own gain.

There’s no good or bad between them; both are evil.

Both commit mass slaughter, and if someone thinks they can communicate with devils just because they spare a few humans they’re on good terms with, then that person is either hopelessly foolish or wickedly selfish.

If someone tells you that dealing with devils is a little easier than with demons, they’re definitely trying to dupe you.”

Spencer pondered for a moment, then said, ”But the former president of the Mages’ Association said that if one were close to death, one could seek help from a devil as long as one meets their terms of trade.

It’s better than dying.”

Hill scoffed lightly, ”Draculus, he’s indeed had dealings with devils, his way of doing things is abnormal. Don’t listen to him; there will always be an outcome between him and the devils.

If he seriously told you that devils are slightly better beings, then he will eventually lose his own soul.

If a devil wants a soul, even taking hundreds of thousands of years is all too normal.”

”He is one of the strongest mages in our world,” Spencer glanced at Hill and reluctantly added ”one of,” probably fearful Hill might think him disrespectful to Fran, ”Would he also lose? Could we warn him?”

”Perhaps he can steadfastly survive,” Hill said indifferently, ”But the devil will certainly hound him until he dies. As long as he does not wager his soul, there won’t be a problem.

You don’t need to worry about him; no one else can warn him.

For someone like Draculus, other people’s words are useless, he only believes in himself.

Don’t follow in his footsteps.

Devils are very good at flattery, the most flattering nobles you’ve seen in Saral couldn’t hold a candle to the eloquence of a low-ranked devil.

Draculus dares to do this because he understands the language of devils and is absolutely cautious.

As for you, just remember never to make any verbal promises to a devil, nor sign your name on anything a devil offers you.”

Spencer seemed somewhat dumbfounded but still nodded, indicating he would absolutely not make a mistake.

Hill tossed him a few knight novels, ”The content of these knight novels is quite similar, no different from those foolish tales in our world where the protagonist dreams that all beautiful women will fall for him.

However, the tavern tunes in these books are interesting; you should take a look—they’re all about deals with devils.

The people of this world are not stupid; they just lack a channel to express themselves.

These so-called barmaid tunes are what the authors really want to convey.”

Spencer started reading the books.

William on the throne waved his hand, and a book flew straight into his grasp.

”When did Draculus discuss this topic with you? I wasn’t aware,” William’s expression turned somewhat cold, and his voice lowered.

”When I decided to follow His Majesty the King here, many people came to see me off and gave me a lot of gifts. Mr. Draculus also gifted me some high-level potions and armor for self-defense.

I could feel that he truly had my best interests at heart when he said that, so I found this situation quite strange.

I don’t understand why that Legendary Mage would think that devils are worthy of dealing with,” Spencer said without looking up from his book. ”But no matter what he said, I would of course consult His Majesty the King before making a decision.

And I didn’t believe him anyway.

I only asked Mr. Hill because he had just studied devils and might know something,” he added.

William’s expression relaxed. If Draculus extended his hand towards someone William trusted, William would most likely inform the God of Time and Space to kill that Legendary Mage.

As for the outcome of Draculus being tempted by a devil, whether the Legendary Mage would end up offering his soul to a particular devil or not, William and Hill didn’t care much.

Hill glanced at William, and both understood how stubborn Spencer was.

He would certainly not seek out a devil for his own gain, but if one day William found himself in danger, Spencer would not hesitate to sell his own soul.

Draculus must have spoken to Spencer in that way because a certain devil had expressed interest in the soul of this loyal knight.

As William looked at the gentle smile now tinged with coldness.

If Draculus ever fell into William’s hands, it would be difficult for him to leave alive.

Hill looked at the huge screen showing the Undead Tribe, which had, like a tide, already surged to the center of the city, and a smile appeared on his lips.

The path of that Legendary Mage was indeed getting narrower.

In the center square of the city, the Undead Tribe assembled an Array Plate and slammed it deeply into the ground beneath the square.

Then, some mages who had studied alchemy took their Alchemical Pens and followed the sequence indicated on the tablet to complete the unfinished formation.

Seeing this, Hill couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth.

Those numbers arranged in the order of 1, 2, 3, 4 were a blow to Hill, an alchemist who had practiced diligently.

Even though these foolproof Alchemical Diagrams were few in number, each of them made a hardworking Alchemist like Hill want to curse in fury.

But Hill couldn’t curse, for this type of Array, which could be assembled with plates, was developed by Fran and sold to William.

If William had to go down to the mines three or four times because he bought something from Hill, then Fran could make him go down once a month.

It took the Undead Tribe half an hour, but they finally completed the formation.

Even though they had all learned alchemy, their use of the pen was still a mess, and they could make mistakes even when tracing along the numbered indicators.

Otherwise, the task should have taken only five minutes.

Luckily, these Array Plates had a high tolerance for errors, and those Undead who were tracing the formation had practiced many times, and finally succeeded.

Golden light began to spread throughout the entire city, and the Undead began to cheer.

They commenced their work of cleaning the city.

The people of that city now had various colored halos hanging over them.

Those with deep red were killed on the spot, while those with a pale red color were disarmed and taken to the square to be confined.

A rundown Alchemy Hut was brought out to house the prisoners.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh—it was the hut that Central City used to shelter slaves, and it should still have his painted doppelganger hanging inside.

Sure enough, another building was quickly brought out; the citizens of the Neutral Faction marked with a yellow halo were sent in, but they were allowed to live together as a family and keep their possessions.

The Undead Tribe was efficient in their dealings, regardless of how the citizens pleaded or talked about the impossibility of packing up their homes in such brief time, not a single one of the Undead was moved.

They simply did it themselves, helping the pitiful citizens move, making sure even a pair of chopsticks was taken along.

After several families had been invaded by thousands of Undead, who even found the master of the house’s secret savings hidden in the roof corner to be taken away, few dared to delay any longer.

Hill watched with great interest—the Undead seemed to have absorbed quite a bit of experience from the people of Central City. Only Swordsmen acted, and they were very aggressive, not even speaking to the citizens.

After sweeping through the entire city once, the Undead simply started to dismantle houses.

Hill immediately recognized that it was supposedly the location of the black market.

In a nation ruled by devils, where a black market still existed, the people caught there had halos that were dark red.

The moment these individuals surfaced from underground, they would be immediately headshot by the surrounding Undead, both from above and below.

The Undead had already sealed off all exits.

Unless no one was there, no matter how deep underground they were, they would be marked by a halo, and the Undead didn’t need to look for their location.

From the start of the battle to digging a hundred meters underground, the war had taken only a few hours.
