Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 698: Chapter 493: Clamor of Right and Wrong (Part 2)

Zhou Yun was furious, but she forced herself not to show it.

”Why would she do this? Perhaps she can’t stand seeing Song Chi and I so in love, having been together for so long without breaking up,” Zhou Yun said. ”Do you think her feelings for Song Chi are just those of a boss for her artist?”

Zhou Yun sneered.

Liu Zhikun gaped in surprise.

”You mean she...”

Zhou Yun: ”That’s right, she’s jealous of me. That’s why she made up such rumors. She can’t stand seeing Song Chi and me in love, so she wants to use gossip to drive us apart.”

Liu Zhikun stared in shock, silent for a long time, not knowing what to say.

After he left Zhou Yun’s trailer, Zhou Yun thought for a moment and came up with a plan.

This was not something for Song Chi to worry about; Zhou Yun felt that she could handle it herself.

How does one prove a rumor false? Zhou Yun had not yet found a foolproof way, but she did have experience in making a rumor less credible.

That was to cast doubt on the motivation of the person spreading the rumors.

Zhou Yun phoned Zhou Lan and told her about the situation, saying, ”Sister Lan, you need to start spreading a word in the circle that Luo Zhiqiu has always had ulterior motives for Song Chi, but Song Chi has always rejected her. Luo Zhiqiu’s love goes unrequited, which has left her harboring resentment and jealousy towards me, leading her to tarnish my reputation.”

Zhou Lan immediately understood Zhou Yun’s intention.

”Okay, leave it to me,” Zhou Lan said. ”If this woman has no shame, I’ll make sure she loses all face!”

Zhou Yun had only asked Zhou Lan to start from the angle involving Song Chi, but Zhou Lan went further, spreading rumors about Luo Zhiqiu’s covetousness for young and handsome male artists, not just the former Song Chi, but also those under Zuo Jing’s representation. Meanwhile, she also began to shape an image of Luo Zhiqiu as being overly jealous, petty, and unwilling to nurture her own male artists, fearing that they would become successful like Song Chi and leave her.

Luo Zhiqiu’s reputation in the circle had never been good. When Song Chi was under her management, she made a lot of money off him and gained a lot of benefits. Once Song Chi left, everyone naturally lost the respect they once had for her. After Song Chi’s departure, Zuo Jing started producing web dramas, making a lot of modern and historical idol dramas, all with ratings under 5, but they were low-cost, and each could still make some money, which added up to a considerable sum. And her artists, they kept circulating within the web drama realm, never taking on outside roles as she would never allow them to. Over time, this talk spread, and the fans of these artists began to feel she was hindering their idols’ careers, criticizing her harshly, even saying it’s no wonder she couldn’t keep Song Chi.

Song Chi was well-liked and had an excellent reputation in the circle. Everyone was aware of his previous conditions under Zuo Jing, and while it wasn’t like everyone was against Luo Zhiqiu out of solidarity with Song Chi, given the choice, they naturally all preferred not to work with her, if possible.

Zhou Lan’s counterattack was swift. Soon enough, all kinds of rumors about Luo Zhiqiu began to emerge in the circle: she was jealous, petty, and ruthless, spreading lies and stooping to any means necessary.

By the time Luo Zhiqiu heard these rumors, they had already spread throughout the entire circle. Even her own artists looked at her strangely and deliberately kept their distance from her, as if afraid of being misunderstood.

She was infuriated upon hearing this, of course knowing what was going on.

Luo Zhiqiu called Zhou Yun angrily, saying, ”What do you mean by this? Are you declaring war on me?”

Zhou Yun, who did not have Luo Zhiqiu’s number, received an unexpected call with such a challenge and asked, ”Who is this?”

Luo Zhiqiu, enraged, gave her name: ”Luo Zhiqiu.”

Only then did Zhou Yun realize.

”Oh, it’s Sister Luo. What do you mean by that? I don’t quite understand. I haven’t seen you in a long time, how could I be declaring war on you?”

Luo Zhiqiu: ”Don’t pretend you don’t know who’s spreading these rumors.”

Zhou Yun feigned surprise, asking, ”What rumors?”

Luo Zhiqiu said through gritted teeth, ”You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
