Chapter 685: Chapter 491: A Round Trip

Hospital.

A woman clad in a brown trench coat rushed in through the main entrance, her face flushed with urgency and even appearing somewhat bewildered, unsure where to go momentarily as she turned her head in all directions, constantly looking around.

She ran all the way to the Emergency Room entrance.

When she saw Zhou Yun at the entrance, she was obviously startled, thinking she had gone to the wrong place.

”Are you Ms. Li?” The sole man approached her and asked.

”Yes, that’s me.” She nodded anxiously.

”Your husband is currently undergoing emergency treatment.” he said.

”How, how is he?” Ms. Li asked nervously.

As soon as she finished her sentence, the lights in the Emergency Room turned green.

After a while, the doctor came out.

”We are lucky, he was brought in just in time.” the doctor said, ”We managed to resuscitate him.”

Ms. Li let out a long sigh of relief, ”Thank you, thank you, Doctor! Thank you!”

She bowed to the doctor.

The doctor, smiling, said: ”Don’t thank me, thank them instead. I heard if they hadn’t encountered him on the road and brought him here promptly, it might have been too late.”

Ms. Li turned and looked towards Zhou Yun and her group, her eyes red and tears not merely dropping but streaming down.

”Thank you, thank you all.”

If it were an ordinary occasion, Zhou Yun might have just considered this a common event, helping someone in need encountered by the roadside, merely a good deed.

But having just experienced the false media rumors about Song Chi’s car accident and death, she particularly understood Ms. Li’s emotions at the moment, even feeling an empathetic connection.

She said, ”It’s good he’s alright, we’ll leave first then, it’s tough, but you’ll have to handle it yourself now.”

Ms. Li nodded, apologizing, ”I’m really very grateful to you, if not for you—”

Zhou Yun patted Ms. Li’s shoulder and said, ”Even if it weren’t us, there would have been others. Your husband is a very responsible man. His first action when having a heart attack was to hit the brakes and even pull up the handbrake, which is truly remarkable.”

Ms. Li, moved to laughter, said, ”That’s just the way he is, always talking about his social responsibilities.”

Zhou Yun: ”Then we’ll be off now.”

”Yes, thank you.” Ms. Li bowed to them at ninety degrees.

It was already the early hours of the morning.

Cao Jun asked, ”Are we still going to Shanghai?”

Zhou Yun looked at the time and said, ”It’s still a bother, but I need to go see him today. I won’t be at peace unless I see him myself; sorry for the trouble driving tonight.”

Cao Jun nodded, ”I’m fine, I can manage. You guys can sleep a bit in the car, I can catch up on sleep during the day tomorrow, but you can’t.”

”Hmm.” Zhou Yun said, ”Sorry for the inconvenience tonight.”

Cao Jun smiled, ”What inconvenience is this?”

Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue both fell asleep in the car.

At two in the morning, they arrived at the hospital.

Zhou Yun led Zheng Xiaojue to the entrance of Song Chi’s hospital room.

She cautiously opened the door and walked in.

”Who is it?” someone asked quietly.

Judging by the voice, it was Song Chi’s assistant, Zhang Cong.

”It’s me.” Zhou Yun replied softly.

Zhang Cong sat up in bed somewhat surprised, rubbing his face.

He turned on the light.

Zhang Cong said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, why are you here?”

Zhou Yun said, ”I came to see him, is he inside?”

Zhang Cong nodded, ”Brother Chi is already asleep, I’ll go wake him.”

Zhou Yun stopped Zhang Cong, ”No need, let him sleep. Just tell me, what exactly are his injuries?”

Zhang Cong, with a face freshly awakened and suddenly shocked, showed absolute terror.

”Sister Xiao Yun, Brother Chi, Brother Chi gave me strict instructions, I can’t tell you.” he said.

Zhou Yun looked at him incredulously, ”I’ve come all the way here, and you still have things you can’t say? I’ll see for myself in a moment.”

”Maybe, maybe you should see for yourself.” Zhang Cong stammered.

Observing Zhang Cong’s evasive manner, Zhou Yun grew even more suspicious. What exactly was Song Chi’s situation? Why won’t Zhang Cong even tell her?

Zhou Yun: ”Stop beating around the bush, just tell me.”

Zhang Cong was almost in tears, ”I promised Brother Chi, I absolutely wouldn’t tell you.”

Zhou Yun, feeling helpless, decided to see for herself.

She approached the inner room door, hesitating for a moment, struggling to move.

She was somewhat afraid.

Yet, she steeled herself and opened the door.
