Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 663: Chapter 485: Four Assassins (Part 2)

This is reality.

Yuk Chu knew that if she wanted to change her situation, there was no other way but to either follow Zhou Yun’s path or Xu Siyao’s path.

These two paths do not mean copying and imitating them, but rather two different directions.

...

Zhou Yun did not realize that her friend Yuk Chu was in a period of contemplation and hesitation these days.

After having a meal with Yuk Chu, she didn’t go home directly but went to a bookstore instead.

She planned to buy a batch of new books and take them home.

Nowadays, bookstores have decreased in number, and the remaining ones have become more exquisite, paired with coffee and desserts, making a corner where people could stop and rest for a while.

Although it was evening, there were still quite a few people in the bookstore.

Wearing sunglasses and a hat, Zhou Yun walked in and caught some people’s attention.

Although celebrities are often recognized in real life, in reality, if one disguises a bit, it’s not so easy to be recognized.

Because in this era, very few people will keep staring at another person.

Wearing sunglasses and a hat like Zhou Yun did only made her look a bit strange.

After all, at night, you hardly see anyone wearing sunglasses.

Zhou Yun walked naturally to the back of the bookshelf, using it to block herself.

The strange looks waned and then dispersed.

She scanned row by row, checking the ratings on Douban and reading people’s comments on books that interested her.

She didn’t fully trust the ratings on Douban to pick books, but the ratings could help her filter out some that were really bad.

Suddenly, a person walked past her.

The person appeared somewhat tall, and Zhou Yun subconsciously shifted her body to the side to hide her face and let the person pass.

Unexpectedly, the person stopped beside her.

”Zhou Yun?” the person asked in a low voice.

Zhou Yun was startled, and upon taking a closer look, she realized it was Gu Huaichun.

Zhou Yun looked at him surprised and asked, ”What are you doing here?”

Gu Huaichun smiled a bit and said, ”I came to buy books; aren’t you here to buy books too?”

”You usually read books?” Zhou Yun was even more surprised.

Gu Huaichun gave her a look and said, ”Why wouldn’t I read books? Don’t think you’re the only cultured one.”

Zhou Yun: ”I’ve never thought of you as someone who loves reading.”

Gu Huaichun huffed, ”That’s because you don’t know me well.”

Zhou Yun smiled and asked, ”What book are you buying?”

”Something related to criminal investigation,” Gu Huaichun said. ”I have several roles as a police officer coming up.”

”No wonder,” Zhou Yun nodded. ”Are you buying professional books or what?”

”I’m buying a bit of everything - novels, popular science, professional knowledge, just preparing,” Gu Huaichun replied. ”What about you?”

”Oh, I just came to see if there are any books I want to buy or read. I like detective and mystery novels,” Zhou Yun said. ”You could actually read more novels yourself, and if there is a story you like, you could try getting your company to develop it into a TV drama or a movie.”

Gu Huaichun shook his head and said, ”You think too highly of my company; they wouldn’t develop a play just because of my ideas.”

”If you don’t talk to them, they will never value your ideas, but you should have more rights to make choices,” Zhou Yun said. ”I’ll tell you a secret, during meetings with my company’s staff, I used to propose my ideas and suggestions very gently, but later I realized if I’m too gentle, they wouldn’t take any of my ideas or suggestions seriously, so I changed my approach. I no longer ask them to consider, but directly state my demands, my wants, and my must-haves. Using such terms, they started changing their attitude towards me. Although they would complain and find me commanding and difficult, they began listening to my suggestions and tried to realize my ideas.”

”That’s possible...” Gu Huaichun looked at her in surprise.

”Mmhmm, I once had a role where they wanted to do in-film advertising. I just said straight out that I don’t accept scripted product placements no matter what they say. I persisted with my opinion, they complained a lot, but in the end, they agreed,” Zhou Yun said. ”Figure out what you want to do and what you want to achieve, and use your advantages to realize it.”
