Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 679: Chapter 489: Fate is at Odds (Part 2)

Gu Huaichun finished listening and asked, ”Could it be that you’re being targeted by your director?”

”Targeted?” Zhou Yun looked at him in surprise, ”What do you mean?”

Gu Huaichun said, ”Like, is it possible you did something to offend your director? Logically speaking, your judgment shouldn’t be off, and since you can’t even accept some of the reasons he gives for reshooting, finding them odd, then it can only mean he’s doing it on purpose.”

Zhou Yun: ”Doing it on purpose? But I haven’t really offended him, why would he do that?”

Gu Huaichun shrugged, ”I don’t know about that, who knows.”

Zhou Yun suddenly recalled the day when Yao Yuanfeng came to the set.

Could it be that Hou Mengjie developed some discontent towards her because of what happened that day?

Zhou Yun felt that it was indeed possible.

She didn’t have a good impression of Hou Mengjie and always felt that he was hiding a lot of things.

”How has Xiao Ran been doing lately in her performance?” Zhou Yun switched topics and asked.

Gu Huaichun immediately rolled his eyes and said with impatience, ”Don’t even mention it, I truly never saw anyone more clueless at acting than her. My director is patient enough to provide acting guidance, but Meng Ran is just unteachable. No matter what, she still acts the same way, her performance is terrible, constantly causing NG (No Good takes).”

Zhou Yun had guessed as much but didn’t expect the situation to be this bad.

”Then isn’t your progress getting seriously delayed?” Zhou Yun asked.

Gu Huaichun nodded, ”Yeah, the progress has been slowed down. But Meng Ran’s agency keeps telling the production company that they can’t afford any delay in her schedule, as everything after this is fully booked. She has to go as soon as time’s up.”

Zhou Yun uttered an ”Uh.”

”Have you met her agent?” Gu Huaichun asked again.

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”No, why?”

Gu Huaichun: ”That’s another piece of work, follows Meng Ran every day, and if anyone talks a bit more to Meng Ran, acts as if someone is trying to swindle her away. Always butting in. I just steer clear whenever I see her.”

”She even came to me asking how to get closer to you, saying once you’re done filming with her, you’re like strangers.”

”That’s for sure, with an agent like hers, who isn’t a stranger, it’s like she’s got guardians by her side.” Gu Huaichun complained.

Hearing that, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but chuckle.

”Yin Zhou has been the same recently, controlled tightly by his agent. He needs to have his assistant accompany him wherever he goes, reports his whereabouts every hour, all because they fear that Yin Zhou might reconcile with Yuk Chu,” Gu Huaichun said, ”I see that Yin Zhou has not been in a good state recently.”

”Really?” Zhou Yun sounded worried, ”What can be done about it?”

”I’ve tried advising him, but these kinds of things, advice doesn’t help,” Gu Huaichun said, ”We can only hope that he gets more famous in the future and gains more say in things, to make a change.”

”What about you?”

”Huh?”

”Have you tried to fight for your say with your company?” Zhou Yun said, ”Didn’t I tell you before? If you want your company to respect your opinions, you have to learn to say no first.”

Gu Huaichun said: ”Honestly, I feel it’s pointless. You must understand, on principle matters, they will never budge, and choosing which movies to act in is a principle matter for them. Now that they’re counting on me to make money, they won’t let me do the arthouse films I want to do. My salary is already at the ceiling within the industry, as long as my salary doesn’t drop, I’ll have to follow this path till the end.”

”Sigh.”

”Not everyone is as lucky as you,” Gu Huaichun said, ”Even Ning Yao originally shot seven or eight romances and idol dramas under Chengqian Entertainment’s arrangement.”

Zhou Yun really didn’t know about this.

”Is that so?”

Gu Huaichun: ”Yes, it’s already very fortunate to become famous.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”That’s true.”

Gu Huaichun: ”But you gave me a practical suggestion. Even though I can’t control what I act in, I can try to influence the direction of the film a little bit. If some parts of the script are just too nonsensical, I would speak directly to the director. I am not willing to act that way, and the director does respect my opinions.”

”Of course, this film is counting on you to make money,” Zhou Yun said, ”That’s the way it is.”

”Hope I stay famous forever.”

”You will, you’re a good actor and also handsome, you have so many fans,” Zhou Yun said, ”Let’s both keep striving hard, friend.”
