Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 692: Chapter 492: Intimate Lovers (Part 3)

Liu Zhikun was envious of Song Chi.

His fans had also been those crazy types, but he could legitimately say in public, ”I don’t need fans like you, don’t do things beyond my bottom line in the name of liking me, I don’t approve of your liking, and I don’t need it.”

His attitude had also met with attacks from fans, but it was firm like a rock; nothing could shake his will.

Liu Zhikun felt he wasn’t yet at the point where he could say such things.

He was just a hopeful actor with good prospects, not yet a successful one who had found his footing.

Stepping out of Zhou Yun’s trailer, Liu Zhikun looked up at today’s sky.

It was clear. The sun hung brightly above.

Yin Linglin suddenly came over and asked him, ”Why did you come out of Zhou Yun’s trailer? Are you two that close?”

Liu Zhikun: ”No, I just had something to discuss with her. Did you want me for something?”

Yin Linglin nodded, saying, ”Do you have time now? I’m in touch with a film project, and I think the male lead is really suitable for you. Want to discuss it together?”

Liu Zhikun responded, ”What project?”

”A youth romance film,” she said.

Liu Zhikun’s interest waned immediately.

He had previously had a great success with a youth film, which had marked the start of his career as a movie actor, but because that film was too successful, all the projects that came to him afterward were of the same genre, and Liu Zhikun was tired of it. The subsequent youth films he starred in did not achieve the previous success, and the film critics’ reviews were less favorable. So, upon hearing it was a youth romance film, Liu Zhikun immediately lost interest.

Yin Linglin said, ”Don’t be disappointed just yet. Do you know who the director of this film is?”

Liu Zhikun asked, ”Who?”

”Xue Qin,” Yin Linglin said.

”Xue Qin?” Liu Zhikun looked at Yin Linglin in surprise, ”The one who worked with Zhou Yun on ’Behind the Scenes’?”

”Right,” Yin Linglin said, ”Now you know why I came to find you, right? If it were an ordinary director, forget it, but she was nominated at Cannes just for being a Virgo. Interested now?”

Liu Zhikun hesitated, glancing at Zhou Yun’s trailer.

”But how do you know about Xue Qin’s new movie? Didn’t she just finish shooting two films?” he said, ”And I’ve heard that Xue Qin really likes Zhou Yun, so why didn’t she choose Zhou Yun?”

A look of impatience flashed across Yin Linglin’s face.

”Of course I heard about this film through my own channels. If it had been made public, wouldn’t you have received the news too?” she said, ”As far as I know, the film is still in development. Xue Qin is writing the screenplay herself and hasn’t finished it yet. So I guess she hasn’t discussed it with Zhou Yun either. I heard that casting hasn’t started, and if we take the initiative to contact Xue Qin and recommend ourselves, we still might have a chance. If we wait until Xue Qin actively starts casting, it might not be our turn anymore.”

To tell the truth, Liu Zhikun would be lying if he said he wasn’t tempted.

And he had a good idea of why Yin Linglin had come to find him.

Yin Linglin probably wanted to team up with him to increase their bargaining power.

”What do you want to do?” Liu Zhikun asked, ”And why didn’t you approach He Xuran?”

Yin Linglin said, ”I think you’re better than He Xuran. Isn’t that obvious? He’s so conceited, directors won’t like him.”

Liu Zhikun didn’t speak.

He Xuran was indeed conceited and never seemed to realize how much his arrogance bothered others.

”Let’s find a time to visit Xue Qin,” Yin Linglin said, ”If we go personally to talk to her, it shows more sincerity. I heard she’s not very nice to Zhou Yun on set, that she’s a very distinctive director. We can lower our posture a bit.”

Liu Zhikun said, ”Okay.”

The Tiansi Award ceremony was held on one day at the end of April.

Compared to the Huayu Award, the Tiansi Award didn’t do as much media promotion.

The Tiansi Award has always been low-key, seldom marketing itself. This also related to its background; it is backed by a national official institution, doesn’t rely on public funding for its operation, and has always presented itself as elite, not sharing the stage with ordinary awards.
