Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 653: Chapter 478: Maybe It Will Come True

The Tiansi Award nominations were announced at 10 a.m.

When ”Heart Inquiry” appeared again at the top of the nomination list, it was met with cheers.

The Huayu Award had been fiercely criticized these past days, the nomination list for this award was hailed just as intensely.

Following the announcement of the nominees, a preliminary judge of the Tiansi Awards held an interview session to take questions from reporters.

This is something the Huayu Award does not have.

Otherwise, the preliminary judges of the Huayu Award would have been blasted over the Best Actress nomination list in this session.

The question most frequently asked to the preliminary judges of the Tiansi Award was who they thought had the best chance of winning.

—Does Wei Ruxue have a chance to repeat as Best Actress at the Tiansi Award?

—We are just preliminary judges, the final judges are not us, and our opinions can’t replace those of the final judges, so it’s difficult for us to answer this question. But each of the five nominees had their supporters during the preliminary selection, and everyone can feel that all five nominated actresses are excellent.

—Zhou Yun was previously the most likely nominee for Best Supporting Actress at the Huayu Award, what is your view on whether she can take the Best Supporting Actress at the Tiansi Award this time?

—Both the Tiansi Award and Huayu Award are excellent awards, but they focus on different directions. Zhou Yun is undoubtedly a very outstanding actress. Although it’s not quite appropriate for me to answer this, in reality, whether she wins the Tiansi Award or not, it doesn’t affect the excellent perception of her in each of our hearts, I really appreciate her performance in ”Heart Inquiry”, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with her.

—In selecting the Best Actor, will you consider that Song Chi has won once before and hold him to a higher standard?

—(Laughs) You should ask the final judges about this, we certainly didn’t refuse him a nomination just because he has won before.

—”Heart Inquiry” was completely ignored at the Huayu Award, may I ask how the judges evaluated this TV series during the preliminary selection?

—Of course, it was very good, otherwise how could it get the highest number of nominations? Director Kang Xin is still as sharp as ever, creating a new masterpiece. I won’t say too much, personally, I love this TV series and even after many years, I would still want to watch it again.

—Does Su Yan have a chance to win Best Actress?

—You need to ask the final judges that!

...

The atmosphere during the reporters’ interview was actually rather relaxed, not tense or adversarial.

The viewership for the interview’s live broadcast was massive, reaching tens of millions of people.

For an interview that had no celebrity presence or comedic elements, that’s a terrifying number.

It’s fair to say that the Tiansi Award benefited from the substantial criticism faced by the Huayu Award previously, gaining even greater attention than usual.

This time around, perhaps due to fortuitous timing and circumstances, or perhaps for some other reason, the Tiansi Award welcomed, in an unprecedented fashion, the participation of three popular top-tier actresses—Wei Ruxue, Zhou Yun, and Su Yan—and their nominations were actually widely expected and accepted, unlike previous years when the occasional nomination of a star would be greatly scrutinized, seen as an artistic compromise to commercialism and the market.

Whether acknowledged or not, celebrities undeniably draw more attention to an event.

The more celebrities involved, the more attention it garners.

Someone remarked, ”This time the Tiansi Award nominations reveal a particular trend: the competition among younger actresses has become incredibly fierce, while among the younger actors, Song Chi still stands out alone.”

This summary is true.

Zhou Yun also realized this.

It was not like this before.

Like Wei Ruxue and Su Yan, she was nominated for the Tiansi Award for the first time; they were not cast in roles of long-suffering ’wives turning into mothers-in-law.’

But this year, they suddenly collided with the runaway successes ”Spring Cold” and ”Heart Inquiry.”

Zhou Yun suddenly thought of Gu Huaichun.

He is also a young actor with a talent for acting; yet, he almost has no hope of being nominated for mainstream awards.

Because he hasn’t appeared in any mainstream works.

The series that Yuehai arranged for him were all web dramas, and eighty percent of them were web dramas produced in-house.

While Gu Huaichun was reputable for his acting skills, they were not so exceptional as to be astounding.

Zhou Yun had been paying attention to her good friend; she always had a thought she wanted to express but hadn’t: Gu Huaichun’s improvement was genuinely very limited.

His performance in the last two series was not notably advanced compared to ”Eighth Heartbeat.”
