[One of your Rice Straw Hunters gained a realization during the battle, breaking through the limits of their potential and was promoted to a new unit: Blood-colored Scarecrow.]

[Blood-colored Scarecrow (Level 7, Summoned Corps): Experience (0/750), Attack 9, Defense 7, Life 26, Skills: Summon Crow Attack (number of crows reaches 15), Rooted, Root Entanglement, Blood Skin (when slaying enemies, their blood can transform into Blood Armor to enhance self and weapons).]

Upon seeing the information popping up before him, Gu Xi immediately understood.

This was the breakthrough achieved by one of the Rice Straw Hunters, creating a new path for their companions.

The path for Rice Straw Hunters after Level 7.

Although their attack and defense haven’t improved much, the addition of the blood skin layer is what makes these scarecrows unique.

Gu Xi noticed that apart from the blood-formed armor on the scarecrows, the crows standing on them also wore a similar layer.

Moreover, some weapons placed at the scarecrows’ feet had blood marks on them.

Clearly, this layer of blood skin provides a comprehensive enhancement to the scarecrows.

Gu Xi speculated that the more enemies the scarecrows kill, the stronger the effect of the blood skin would become.

Moving forward, part of the negative energy from the rotting farmland can be used to train more powerful Blood-colored Scarecrows.

Glancing at the situation on the scarecrows’ side, Gu Xi couldn’t help but sigh at their luck in encountering such an opportunity.

After understanding the situation, Gu Xi didn’t dwell on it further.

He was preparing for the next wave of Death Ripple to eliminate the remaining Gray Yakshas.

Just then, a sharp cry came from the sky, and as Gu Xi looked up, he saw a batch of larger Gray Yakshas appearing in the sky.

Simultaneously, some Yaksha troops started appearing on the city walls near the Earth Demon Cave.

These Yakshas were a ranged force, clearly intending to counter the camp Gu Xi had set up here.

However, they never expected that Gu Xi had calculated everything when choosing the location; unless exceptionally strong catapults were used, they couldn’t attack effectively.

As for the larger Gray Yakshas in the sky, Gu Xi wasn’t afraid.

Their arrival was perfect timing for them to experience another wave of Death Ripple.

Gu Xi glanced up and raised the Cold Wind Staff, striking it heavily on the ground.

Death Ripple activated.

A visible ripple spread outward, hitting the Gray Yakshas in the sky immediately.

But Gu Xi’s attention wasn’t there; he noticed some strange noises underground as well.

Damn, these Yakshas have all sorts of skills.

Not to mention the ones flying in the sky, there were even ones drilling underground.

Realizing this, Gu Xi felt somewhat exasperated.

He hadn’t considered how to respond to underground enemies.

It seemed that the enemies wouldn’t follow your plan; they had their own strategies.

No matter how comprehensive the pre-battle preparation was, battles would always present unexpected challenges.

Recognizing the underground issue, Gu Xi quickly searched his belt for any units capable of underground combat.

Upon confirming the lack of underground units, Gu Xi’s thoughts turned to making the ground as hard as possible, preventing enemies from breaking through.

However, Gu Xi found, somewhat helplessly, that neither the Library nor the Witch’s House yielded any suitable results recently.

The underground realm remained unfamiliar and challenging for Gu Xi.

This left Gu Xi feeling exasperated.

He originally intended to eliminate the Gray Yakshas and lure another wave of enemies, but now the situation seemed problematic.

”Necromancers, target the underground, follow me and use Wraith Whiskers!”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the Necromancers, who had just completed the Death Ripple, began casting Wraith Whiskers underground.

This spell could trap some of the underground enemies, though its effectiveness wasn’t great.

However, Gu Xi had other strategies.

He decisively laid down numerous Flame Traps on the open ground before him.

If the enemies didn’t come up from underground, so be it; but once they emerged, they would be caught in the Flame Traps.

After setting these up, Gu Xi didn’t become overly complacent.

He understood that the enemies chose to attack from underground, likely aiming to assault the city walls or even the city gate, and his internal setups were merely a temporary measure.

After some hesitation, Gu Xi turned and ordered below, ”Pass the order for the Bone-devouring Mud to deploy, and also bring out the Bone-Devouring Swamp.”

Then Gu Xi turned to the rear, where the battle had ended, and shouted, ”What are you waiting for? Get to your positions!”

Under Gu Xi’s orders, his heroes quickly led their troops to occupy the surroundings of the camp.

Since the internal space of the camp wasn’t large, Gu Xi needed to protect the shooters, healers, and Demon Sacrifice Camp—the long-range or magic system units—inside.

There weren’t many spots left for other units.

Gu Xi was aware of this from the beginning.

So he never planned to place all his troops inside the camp, opting to have his heroes stationed outside instead.

As for resupplying troops and safety issues, there was no need to worry.

All three city gates were open, allowing Gu Xi’s heroes to resupply from Yalidu City at any time.

Gu Xi yelled at them because these guys were taking too long outside.

It was meant to be a well-planned strategy, but once fighting commenced, problems always arose.

Hearing Gu Xi’s order, several heroes quickly led their troops toward the newly established camp.

At that moment, a rumbling noise emanated from underground, and three giant worms emerged, biting directly at Gu Xi’s three city gates.

Gu Xi raised his hand, causing the three city gates to vanish and then reappear.

They effectively trapped the three worms underground.

However, these worms were unlike the previous Well Dragon King; they possessed drilling abilities and burrowed back underground with a few movements.

Now that they had surfaced, Gu Xi wasn’t about to let them go. Under his command, the Bone-devouring Mud leapt onto the worms as they drilled into the ground, continually devouring their bodies.

The worms hadn’t anticipated that Gu Xi would have such forces, and as they dragged the Bone-devouring Mud underground, more Bone-devouring Mud leapt onto them.

In a short while, the originally massive worms were half-devoured.

However, this also caused trouble as the ground drilled open by the worms collapsed.
