Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 638: Chapter 636: Clearing the Battlefield

The heroes fighting outside were also startled by the developments at the rear.

Although they didn’t witness the situation in the back firsthand, Gu Xi’s shout to clear the field indicated that the problem behind them was quite significant.

At this moment, they lowered their heads, realizing that the issue was indeed their own.

They rushed out to attack the Yaksha trying to break in from outside, but had never considered the safety of Gu Xi at the rear.

Thus, they all became hesitant, some wanting to fight out, and others wanting to return.

Watching the actions of his subordinate heroes, Gu Xi, who had just unleashed the Death Ripple, couldn’t help but shake his head.

”A bunch of brainless fools.”

”That’s because, when you released them, you didn’t clearly delineate their areas of responsibility. You gave them too much freedom. In such times, you, as the commander, need to control them.

Deploying all your units is your mistake.”

The Eldest Princess Anna pointed out beside him.

There’s no better classroom than on-the-spot lessons.

Gu Xi understood the Eldest Princess Anna’s intention.

Though the situation was still under control, it was an ideal opportunity for Gu Xi to practice. Any mistakes made were minor, with the Eldest Princess Anna providing real-time command and guidance, ensuring that such errors wouldn’t be repeated next time.

Opportunities like this were rare.

It was better to suffer a small loss now than to inexplicably be played to death on a large battlefield.

Gu Xi decisively reacted, but he did not recall the Undead Corps that had already reached the front.

Instead, he began deploying new forces.

”Deploy the Evil Bone Locust Swarm to patrol between the three city gates.”

Simultaneously, Gu Xi glanced at the Black Dragon in the sky, ”Kill all Yakshas. I’ll give you ten more minutes. If you can’t complete the kills, I’ll release the Black Dragon.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, hundreds of swarms of Evil Bone Locusts flew out.

Unlike the previous Evil Bone Locusts, these had quite clearly consumed gray-quality Champion’s Battle Intent.

Affected by this, their size had noticeably decreased, and the black bones on their skin surface shone with a glossy black luster.

They somewhat resembled the fierce and combative nature of certain battle crickets, and even a few had black-purple bones atop their heads.

Once on the scene, they began circling around Gu Xi’s battlefield, even pouncing on the Painted Skin Yakshas who hadn’t escaped.

It could be seen that, after devouring the Champion’s Battle Intent, these Evil Bone Locusts had enhanced aggression and a very clear perception of enmity towards enemies.

After releasing the Evil Bone Locusts, Gu Xi’s thoughts expanded.

He realized that the layout before him was not especially advantageous.

Though the enemy would have to breach the city gates Gu Xi had established layer by layer when they attacked,

Gu Xi wondered now if that was truly necessary.

Why did he deploy city gates on the battlefield?

To facilitate the deployment of forces still in the city and to utilize the height of the gates for long-range strikes.

Previously, when Gu Xi was alone pinned within the Undead Calamity Array, he thought of keeping the enemy outside his gates.

But now, lining up the three city gates in three rows, was he worried the enemy couldn’t break through them?

When did he come up with such an idea?

Gu Xi supported his chin with his hand.

Apparently not long ago; after all, he hadn’t faced such intense combat before.

The last time all three gates were simultaneously released was at Almika in the Mysterious Academy.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi shifted his hand.

The three gates quickly rearranged into an inverted triangle, forcing the Brave Fight to move forward slightly, placing the Ritual Magic altar a bit behind the Soul Summoning Tower.

At the same time, Gu Xi rearranged the units that were still stationed at the rear.

Not only did he fill up the positions at the back, ensuring the safety of the rear, but he also enabled the possibility of deploying forces from any of the three city gates to support all positions on the battlefield as needed.

As for the situation on the front battlefield, the fight had already ended.

The Yakshas that rushed over tripped and fell directly to the ground, even less effective than the initial wave.

These Yakshas were cut down as they attempted to rise.

The one with cyan skin was also one of the five objectives to be fought if encountered this time.

[Skeleton Gunners (Summoned Creatures) killed Bone-Eating Yaksha - Cyan Skin Bone Plug (Level 10, BOSS template), you gained 1 point of experience, Black Spear Camp gained 1 point of experience, and participating summoned creatures gained 296 points of experience.]

After killing him, Gu Xi directly received 500 reputation and a piece of Blue Armor.

To prove his kill, Gu Xi simply didn’t summon him, but instead had his head chopped off.

As for his corpse, Gu Xi naturally had other undead handle it, and in the end, even his bones were decomposed.

Alongside this Cyan Skin Bone Plug fell another called Qian Yin Painting, a Level 10 BOSS, who was the leader of the stealth-infiltrating Painted Skin Yakshas.

He infiltrated with his subordinates, intending to assassinate Gu Xi.

However, his luck was poor, as Gu Xi discovered him and also slowed him down.

A wave of attacks later, he was taken out, delivering Gu Xi 500 reputation and a piece of Blue Armor for free.

After slaughtering all the enemies, Gu Xi ordered his subordinates to withdraw to the center between the three city gates for rest, while he personally began summoning on the battlefield.

Those Necromancers summoned by Gu Xi, who had been somewhat useless until now, finally played a small role.

With their cooperation, Gu Xi’s summoning proceeded quite smoothly.

Aside from the two BOSSes, all other corpses were transformed into new undead.

The quality of these Yakshas was decent; even under the suppression of the Slowdown Skill, they resisted for a while before falling.

It showed they had thick skin and lengthy life spans.

Such corpses are most suitable for converting into zombies. Haven’t you seen that during the Double Death effect, they all appeared as Maze Devourers?

This clearly indicated what these Yakshas were best suited for.

Consequently, all the corpses in the summoning were turned into zombies.

As for weapons and such, since there were no suitable weapons for them, Gu Xi simply sent all these zombies to Yalidu City for re-equipping.

Simultaneously, Gu Xi summoned several heroes over to replenish their units and to review this battle.

This method of reviewing was also taught to Gu Xi by the Eldest Princess Anna.

Only by reviewing the battle could one identify mistakes, ensuring that similar issues would not arise the next time the same situation was encountered.
