Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 637: Chapter 635: Painted Skin Yaksha (Bonus Chapter – Please Subscribe)

The Wraith Whiskers practiced by Gu Xi himself had already reached a decent level, and with the help of twenty necromancers, they managed to push these Wraith Whiskers to quite a distance.

The yakshas, due to the Ice Storm, were shielding their faces with their hands and didn’t notice their feet at all.

The undead tendrils had already wrapped around their feet before they realized.

By then, it was too late.

The yakshas were dragged to the ground on the spot.

The yakshas following behind also tripped and fell face-first onto the ground.

Before long, due to a chain reaction, these yakshas were all rolling on the ground.

Gu Xi wouldn’t miss such a great opportunity.

”Brave Fight, use the Upper Slowdown Technique.”

Brave Fight couldn’t see the battle in front from the back, but he could judge the situation from Gu Xi’s tone.

Gu Xi’s voice was becoming a bit urgent.

Without much thought, Brave Fight turned around and began preparing the ceremony for the Slowdown Technique.

Meanwhile, the yakshas who had tripped had started to get up from the ground.

Gu Xi didn’t want such a good situation to be ruined, so he decisively led the necromancers to use Wraith Whiskers in that direction.

Gu Xi’s request was simple: disrupt the opponent from getting up.

The enemies must not be allowed to easily rise to their feet.

Thus, layer after layer of Wraith Whiskers entangled them, forcibly delaying the time it took for these yakshas to get up.

After dragging the yakshas back down, Brave Fight finally had time to complete the ceremony for the Slowdown Technique.

The Slowdown Technique this time affected those yakshas who had just charged over.

Because they all fell to the ground, their situation was even more awkward than those who had rushed over before.

At least the previous yakshas were standing and could swing their weapons, although they couldn’t hit anyone, they died with some dignity.

But the current yakshas were different, all had fallen to the ground, with weapons not even in hand.

In their state, it was difficult to even roll over and see who killed them before they were hacked to death.

Wanting to fight back was simply dreaming.

At this point, all of Gu Xi’s undead forces took the initiative to attack, even Kaga and Die Bone, who had been in the rear, rushed forward with their subordinates to seize the opportunity and earn some kills and experience.

In an instant, all of Gu Xi’s forces pressed forward.

This situation made Gu Xi feel something was wrong.

After thinking it through, he hurriedly mobilized a batch of troops from Yalidu City.

This time, the troops Gu Xi mobilized were the Ghost Squad.

After entering the Yellow Springs Road, they hadn’t appeared again.

After all, with the White Impermanence’s attire and looking like tens of thousands in number, they stood out significantly.

Meeting ordinary enemies would be fine, but if encountered underworld figures, Gu Xi would have to explain where White Impermanence came from, which wasn’t worth it.

So Gu Xi simply didn’t bring them out, not even for battlefield cleanup.

But the situation this time was different, Gu Xi felt somewhat uneasy and after thinking it over, called the Ghost Squad out from Yalidu City.

Instead of letting them ascend into the air, he had them stay among the city gates for now.

Simultaneously, the newly appeared troops in the city were also mobilized.

This new unit was comprised of yakshas killed earlier, transformed by Gu Xi’s Death Decree talent from the Double Death.

Yakshas, being not inherently undead, were transformed based on the Death Decree effects.

If there were corresponding undead species, they would transform based on that; if not, it would be based on the creature’s traits, transforming in other directions.

Given the yakshas’ size and level, naturally, they mainly transformed into zombies.

However, instead of transforming into Electric Zombies obtained previously by Gu Xi, they became Maze Devourers, the typical defensive forces Gu Xi usually kept around.

This was understandable, as Maze Devourers are regarded as legitimate troops under Gu Xi, on the standard zombie promotion path.

Unlike Electric Zombies, where methods for training Electric Zombies were not yet formulated.

Under Gu Xi’s command, these unorganized Maze Devourers also emerged from Yalidu City and, gathering under the Soul Summoning Tower, naturally formed a defensive system.

Faced with this scenario, Gu Xi felt somewhat relieved.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi scanned the surroundings with his gaze.

With no abnormalities found, Gu Xi turned to Brave Fight in the back and said, ”Brave Fight, intensify the Slowdown Technique’s control effects, don’t just focus on the battlefield, but clear around us too.”

Even though Brave Fight didn’t understand Gu Xi’s words, he followed suit.

After all, the Slowdown Technique ceremony was complete, and there was still controllable time. Since both Gu Xi’s surroundings and their current location were within the Slowdown Technique’s control scope, extending the Slowdown Technique nearby wasn’t an issue.

Therefore, Brave Fight moved the Slowdown Technique to the neighboring spots per Gu Xi’s request.

Initially, Brave Fight thought it was just routine inspection.

But after moving the Slowdown Technique once, he immediately noticed something amiss.

In a certain spot, a group of undead resembling zombies was being unnaturally affected by the Slowdown Technique.

Seeing this, Gu Xi naturally noticed too.

Only then did Gu Xi realize why he had felt uneasy.

Someone had infiltrated his ranks.

Such tactics Gu Xi had encountered before.

At that time, when Gu Xi had just entered Yalidov without having occupied Yalidu City yet.

His troop numbers were quite limited, so he could easily spot one more or one less.

Thus, he had directly broken the setup at that time.

This time was different.

The number of soldiers under Gu Xi increased significantly.

He couldn’t familiarize himself with every single subordinate, which allowed some people to take advantage and infiltrate.

Now things were different, even if recognition posed issues, the magic wouldn’t make mistakes.

When the Slowdown Technique identified them as enemies, they were indeed enemies.

Gu Xi decisively ordered, ”Kill!”

Upon Gu Xi’s command, the newly deployed undead charged toward those affected by the Slowdown Technique.

Due to the sudden situation, those guys hadn’t reacted yet, resulting in a few being slain on the spot.

[Maze Devourer (Summoned Creature) kills Painted Skin Yaksha (Level 7), you gain 1 experience point, summoned creatures gain 223 experience points.]

[...]

Painted Skin Yaksha?

Only now did Gu Xi realize that the ones capable of infiltrating his ranks were these guys, and although some details were unknown, the words Painted Skin hinted at their abilities.

Simultaneously, Gu Xi recognized that these infiltrating enemies didn’t possess strong combat power, unlike those Bone-Eating Yakshas outside, with their tough skins and strong health.

”Launch Death Ripple, kill them off, and then attack the guys outside once the place is cleared!”
