Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 622: Chapter 620: Giant Centipede

As a blue light shot out, a giant blue centipede, over three hundred meters high, appeared in the sky above the Wild Temple.

This blue centipede’s body was completely a phantasm, and after its appearance, it emitted specks of dark golden light from within, Gu Xi even faintly heard a hint of chant-like sounds.

The blue centipede hadn’t reacted yet and was pulled away by a powerful suction, finally landing in the crucible on the altar, turning into a pot of deep blue liquid.

This situation left Gu Xi dumbfounded.

Soon, he understood that the centipede just pulled away was the mana of the enemy in the Wild Temple.

Then Gu Xi heard a booming sound from the Wild Temple, as if something was about to burst out.

”Robbie ready to move forward, brave fight, prepare the Slowing Spell.”

At that moment, Gu Xi quickly entered into the status, decisively issuing orders.

Upon hearing this, Robbie led the Bone-Slaying Camp swiftly forward.

Unlike the heavily damaged Black Spear Camp, the Bone-Slaying Camp had suffered little loss along the way, now numbering two thousand five hundred, led by Robbie and seven main bosses.

They didn’t resemble the Black Spear Camp with black smoke and tin soldier skin; the Bone-Slaying Camp only focused on their longsword.

It was the same now; Robbie led the Bone-Slaying Camp, striding forward.

Their speed varied, some raised their longswords, some dragged them along the ground, some carried them on their shoulders, with levels ranging from 6 to 8.

Nevertheless, they all charged forward without a thought of retreat.

And as the Bone-Slaying Camp charged forward, a giant centipede over a hundred meters long smashed through the city wall of the Wild Temple, hitting the ground heavily, rushing towards Gu Xi.

”Shoot!”

No command was needed from Gu Xi; as the centipede emerged, the skeleton shooters had already raised their longbows aimed at the enemy.

At the command of the Skeleton Shooter Boss, a rain of arrows was unleashed.

This moment gave Gu Xi the chance to see the centipede clearly.

All of its legs, over a meter long, resembled sharp knives; on the centipede’s back, instead of visible chitinous shell, was a thick layer of incense ash.

One could even see unburned incense sticks amid the ash.

”Do you light incense while walking in the underworld?”

Glancing at the Red-Eyed Daoist beside him, Gu Xi asked.

”Ah?” The Red-Eyed Daoist, not expecting to encounter such a large centipede here, was at a loss on how to handle it, having no time to heed Gu Xi’s question.

”Useless waste, step aside.”

With that, Gu Xi waved his hand, and the Ghost Dragon and Bone Titan charged forward while Robbie led the Bone-Slaying Camp to confront the centipede, targeting its legs instead of the shell.

Robbie’s thought process was simple: with so many legs on the centipede, cut them all off; once immobilized, they could deal with the centipede.

This was similar to Gu Xi’s reaction; after draining the centipede’s mana, he ordered brave fight to use the Slowing Spell for the same reason.

Standing aside, the Red-Eyed Daoist grasped the situation and shouted loudly.

”I understand now, it used incense ash to avoid tribulation; knock off the incense ash or directly hit it with lightning—it’s afraid of that.”

Turns out, this centipede was Level 14 advancing to Level 15, considered a Great Demon facing Thunder Tribulation, seeking a place to hide its body to endure the most dangerous period.

Unexpectedly, he chose a Wild Temple that had already been used as an underworld walking route, essentially hiding along a smuggling path, something beyond his control at times.

During someone’s underworld walking, the centipede shrank itself and hid in an incense burner, ending up being carried onto the Yellow Springs Road.

He then became the boss occupying the Wild Temple of the Yellow Springs, eventually breaking the underworld walking route completely.

However, due to its presence in the Yellow Springs, the thunder tribulation didn’t occur; he was most afraid of lightning, thus covering his body with incense ash.

Though Gu Xi didn’t grasp the details, he immediately followed the Red-Eyed Daoist’s advice.

”Skeleton Technique... Bone Titan, Lightning Chain attack!”

Gu Xi initially intended to instruct the Skeleton Mages but realized that all Skeleton Mages were positioned near brave fight.

Though brave fight had plans to study lightning rituals, the lack of learnable spells in the magic tower meant he needed skeleton mages for prolonged learning.

Now only the Bone Titan at the front carried the Lightning Power.

As a Titan, the Bone Titan actually favored using lightning.

But he had a problem; whenever the Ghost Dragon appeared, he insisted on close combat to demonstrate his prowess.

This was indeed a challenge to the Ghost Dragon, showing that his close combat skills exceeded those of the Dragon Race.

It seemed only this way he could showcase his power.

Initially, he would charge straight at the giant centipede when the Ghost Dragon swooped out.

But as Gu Xi’s command came down, the Bone Titan halted abruptly, grabbing a bone spear and threw it at the centipede.

At this time, brave fight had completed the Slowing Spell.

Just as described by brave fight, the spell enhanced by the ritual and sacrifice was indeed strong; even as the centipede was slashed at by the Bone-Slaying Camp, it still charged forward like suddenly braking on a highway—the entire centipede flipped in place, crashing heavily to the ground.

Seizing the opportunity, the Bone Titan stepped forward, thrusting his bone spear, laden with lightning, into the centipede’s body.

Just as the Red-Eyed Daoist mentioned, lightning was the centipede’s greatest fear.

When the lightning-imbued bone spear penetrated, a series of explosive sounds erupted from within the centipede.

The centipede continually writhed and twisted on the ground, shaking off numerous thick layers of incense ash.

Gu Xi and his allies could clearly see the giant centipede’s green shell slowly turning red under the effect of lightning.

It seemed to be almost cooked.

Gu Xi grew increasingly cautious as the situation progressed.

”Robbie, why have you stopped, continue attacking!

Brave fight, maintain control, don’t let that creature act wildly.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, brave fight immediately harnessed his power, suppressing the centipede’s movements; under the effect of ritual magic-enhanced Slowing Spell, the centipede’s motions seemed slowed by a thousandfold, almost appearing motionless unless closely observed.

Such an opportunity was one Robbie wouldn’t miss; he charged forth with the Bone-Slaying Camp.

Even faster was the Ghost Dragon descending from the sky.
