Undead Mage from a Cell

Exiting the store, Shaya led Gu Xi to the task center located right in the middle of the market.

There should be other names for this place, but the signboard with the name of this place has long been covered by a large number of task lists and wanted posters outside.

Ordinary people can’t see the name here at all; they only know it’s the largest store in the entire market.

Compared to the previous stores, this place is also more formal.

When entering, it was no longer Shaya looking for someone, but a ghostly clerk immediately greeted them.

”Sis, you’re here. Are you here to take orders this time?”

”No, I brought my lord here.”

As Shaya spoke, she stepped aside, allowing Gu Xi to stand out from behind.

When the clerk saw Gu Xi, their eyes lit up.

”Aren’t you Lord Gu? Welcome! What kind of task does Lord Gu wish to complete?”

”Enemy-killing missions, preferably those that quickly enhance reputation. As for prizes, just the usual will do.”

Gu Xi indeed wanted tasks that quickly increased reputation, gave a lot of experience, were simple, and offered good rewards.

But the problem is, the people in the Soul Gathering Land are not foolish; how could they offer such tasks externally?

So Gu Xi could only settle for the next best option.

First, choose what he lacks.

As he said, rewards are not important; what’s important is that he needs to increase reputation.

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s task direction, the clerk immediately said, ”Yes, there are plenty of such tasks. Let me find some.”

”Pick up other tasks along the way too; we don’t want to make multiple trips.”

”Don’t worry, sis, your matters are our top priority.”

The clerk soon brought over a pile of task lists and explained them to Shaya one by one.

”Sis, I saved this one specially. After leaving the city, head east for three hundred miles, and there you’ll find an Earth Demon Cave.

Inside, there’s a group of demons who live outside the Underworld. They feed on the undead along the Yellow Springs Road. We’ve dispatched troops several times to suppress them, but each time they managed to escape.

Later we discovered it wasn’t that we failed to find their location.

But rather, they have informants in the city.

If a force of more than thirty thousand troops is sent, they abandon everything and escape.

But if the number is less than thirty thousand, they will try to lure and attack.

Eventually, those sent become their food.

For this task, the reward is quite large. The main mission is to capture the Earth Demon Cave. Once captured, reputation increases by 2000, and each enemy killed adds 1 reputation.

There’s also another mission alongside the capture of the Earth Demon Cave. Look at these three; they must be killed. They will definitely be in the Earth Demon Cave, and you need to bring back the heads of these three.

These five, if encountered, deal with them; if not, forget it. However, their value is higher, each head worth a piece of blue armor and an additional 500 reputation.

Additionally, there is a task along the way, about fifty miles away from that demon cave, there’s a Broken Scale Stone Ore site.

It produces a thing called Broken Scale Stone, but it’s currently occupied. Clear this place out, and you can get 30% of the broken scale stone’s output.

Note that this output is given for a year, but the reputation for this task is not much because it’s on the way, so I picked it up.

Also here, another task along the way is about a hundred miles east after leaving the city. There’s a Wild Temple there, which seems to be occupied.

Go and check if someone has indeed occupied it. If so, clear out the demons occupying the place.

This task wasn’t issued by the Soul Gathering Land, but since it’s on the way, the reward is three rolls of Red String.

...

The clerk took out numerous task lists, explaining them to Shaya one by one.

Gu Xi, watching from the side, couldn’t help but feel a bit speechless.

He really didn’t expect Shaya to have such connections here.

The clerk in front of him had really thought of everything for Shaya.

From where to go, what tasks to do along the way, everything was planned out.

It was evident that the clerk had put a lot of thought into it.

Shaya naturally noticed this as well, and she smiled and said to the clerk, ”Xiaosun, I really have to thank you this time.”

”Sis, no need to be polite. What kind of relationship do we have?

Whatever you need in the future, just come to me directly. You can rest assured, I promise I’ll have everything handled.”

Shaya took the lists and triumphantly showed them to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi couldn’t help but smile as well.

It seems his three Contracted Undead have all grown now.

”Shaya, ask him for more combat tasks nearby. This time, we’re hoping for rewards of undead corps, mainly zombies or ghosts.”

Shaya gave Gu Xi a look, then immediately communicated with the clerk Xiaosun.

Xiaosun thought for a bit and indeed took out a few more task lists, but this time the task lists weren’t as plentiful as those given to Shaya.

The most central task in the list was to the southwest of the Soul Gathering Land, where there’s a forest with many wild ghosts who have left the group but cannot leave.

They have detached from the convoy heading to the Ghost Gate and have no intention of returning.

They are merely disrupting the path leading to the Ghost Gate.

In a way, they are mountain bandits of the Underworld.

They don’t have much military power, but they’re quite troublesome.

If you dispatch a large force, it’s somewhat wasteful, but sending a small troop might not affect them.

So it became a task placed here.

These tasks are small because the number of gathered wild ghosts is not large, and they’re rather scattered.

So the rewards are quite special; the requirement is to bring back the heads of these wild ghosts to complete the task. Three heads can be exchanged in the Soul Gathering Land for one soldier, zombie, ghost, or skeleton soldier.

It’s all three for one; the more you kill, the more you get.

As for other things, those who take action can claim them themselves; the Soul Gathering Land doesn’t care.

After securing these task lists, Gu Xi finally nodded in satisfaction.

Shaya thanked Xiaosun, then followed Gu Xi out of the task center of this establishment.

After exiting, Shaya asked, ”Lord, where should we go next?”

Gu Xi thought about it, turned to Eldest Princess Anna, ”Anna, do you want to join us this time?”

”Sure, I’m just idling anyway, and this world is quite interesting. I want to explore more of it.”
