Undead Mage from a Cell

Gu Xi was very happy to have gotten the Tiger Talisman, feeling like he’d struck a great deal.

But as the items on the list were being bought one by one, the feeling became quite awkward for Gu Xi.

It turned out that being able to spot the Tiger Talisman among those swords wasn’t by chance; it’s actually a tactic by Old Coffin, where some items are always mixed in each batch of materials.

For example, there might be an Earth Ginseng mixed into the burial soil, or a Master Level person’s epitaph on a tombstone, and so on.

Anyway, in every transaction, there’s always one or two such little treasures appearing.

Even the most clueless person could see that this was Old Coffin’s marketing strategy.

And the items Gu Xi considered treasures were actually not very remarkable here at Old Coffin’s.

Gu Xi’s previous excitement waned, and he just casually glanced over the resources delivered.

He discovered that even when he wasn’t paying close attention, the resources Old Coffin provided were always the same: Green quality materials, with one little treasure in every twenty or thirty units.

Which perfectly matches Gu Xi’s baseline.

And it doesn’t waste Old Coffin’s resources either.

Because a lot of these things aren’t valuable to ordinary Undead, hard to sell, and to some people, might even be considered junk.

Now they’ve been all bundled for Gu Xi.

And Gu Xi actually wouldn’t refuse them, instead, he’d be somewhat happy.

No one can do business quite like this.

But for Gu Xi, he felt he actually profited.

What he needed most right now were things representing foundation or backing.

It’s hard to imagine, Gu Xi already had a Bone Dragon but only seven Heroes.

Although there were many Undead Bosses, only three formed legions: the Rose Corps, the Black Spear Camp, and the Bone-Slaying Camp.

The extreme imbalance between High Tier and Low Tier troops had already started affecting Gu Xi’s battles.

When fighting against the Mountain God and Ghost Village earlier, Gu Xi had sensed it.

The basic Undead under his command were too weak, dying too quickly in battle.

Normally, an Undead Mage wouldn’t encounter such a situation.

But Gu Xi’s case was clearly different, as he grew too fast.

Not much time has passed since he graduated; if it were other players, he’d be undergoing basic training within various guilds.

Yet, he’s already reached this level on his own.

There are missing buildings in the city, and issues in troop composition.

All these don’t seem problematic without a battle, but once you discover issues, it’s when the situation collapses.

These inconspicuous little items gave Gu Xi some new ideas.

At this moment, Old Coffin happened to walk over, holding the list Luna provided and raised it slightly.

”Everything is complete, even the items I don’t have have been replaced, Miss Shaya brought you here, you seem nice, I’ll give you a twenty percent discount.

A total of thirty-one thousand points of Yin Qi, of course, you can also use items of equal value to pay.”

Gu Xi flicked his fingers, and a Deceitful Energy Pearl fell into Old Coffin’s hand, ”How about this?”

”It’s a bizarre energy, not Ghost Qi or Yin Qi, but it can be converted one-to-one, no problem, this will work.”

Old Coffin glanced at the pearl once and confirmed its situation; he was quite satisfied to use it for the trade.

Seeing Old Coffin’s expression, Gu Xi knew the deal was done.

At this moment, Gu Xi held the little treasures he had picked out earlier, ”Boss Old Coffin, what’s the situation with these items?”

Old Coffin was startled when Gu Xi brought it up directly.

He thought that this seemed like a good thing; normally, even if someone noticed, they’d silently take them.

They might consider them a rebate or a small gift and wouldn’t ask about them.

After all, it should feel like they’re benefiting.

But what did Gu Xi mean by this?

Now Gu Xi expressed his thoughts.

”I want to specifically buy these kinds of items, do you have them?”

”Lord Gu, these items are mixed within high-quality materials, not much valued, but they’re actually good things.”

Old Coffin immediately switched his demeanor and started gently complaining.

”I want low-quality, even trash-quality items, and I want a lot.”

”I have them.” Old Coffin perked up upon hearing this, ”Lord Gu, rest assured, my channels are the most comprehensive, there’s no shortage of these items, rest assured, however many you want, we have them!”

But saying this, Old Coffin hesitated, ”But Lord Gu, are you really sure you want these?”

”Of course, I definitely want them.”

Old Coffin hesitated and looked at Gu Xi, then turned to his men and said a few words.

Then two Undead carried over a box full of items.

”My lord, you should check these first to confirm whether you really want this type of item.”

Seeing Old Coffin’s attitude, a trace of doubt surfaced in Gu Xi’s eyes.

When he opened the box, he found it was full of thumb-sized clusters of light, looking like Soul Fragments but larger.

[Champion’s Battle Intent (Grey): A battle intent condensed from over a hundred battles, achieved by warriors who have survived them all, used to enhance Souls or Undead.]

This isn’t right.

Champion’s Battle Intent, Hundred Battle Victory Thought, Gu Xi had heard of these in school.

They’re the strong will forged from at least a hundred battlefields, bit by bit.

Infused into the soul would definitely raise the soul’s quality by a level.

And this kind of item is the best material to improve Warrior quality.

His previous Champion Ring was forged using this type of Champion’s Battle Intent.

Such items start at Green quality, and most are Blue.

What’s with these grey items in front of him?

Gu Xi glanced at the box full of grey Champion’s Battle Intent, then looked at Old Coffin as if waiting for his explanation.

”These were produced after katydids underwent hundreds of battles, you know, bugs, the numbers are a bit high.”

Upon hearing ’katydid’, Gu Xi suddenly realized.

Ah, crickets!

This makes sense.

In the East where cricket fighting was popular, finding crickets that survived a hundred battles wasn’t difficult.

In places where cricket fighting was intense, each village usually had one or two such crickets.

And crickets can only live for about a year, with new ones appearing every year, these here probably were casually collected by the Undead.

Seeing Gu Xi’s enlightened expression, Old Coffin tapped the box with his foot.

”If you want trash-quality little treasures, they’re probably like this; I just wanted to ask if you still want them.

If not, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear your previous words.”

Gu Xi blinked and confidently said, ”I want them!”
