Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 149, The Most Suitable Second Profession for Lu Fan

Translator: Silavin

Lu Fan gradually discovered that, like other Professions, the number of branches his Dragon Tamer Second Profession could be roughly broken down from his First Profession Change Skills.

After all, his First Profession Skills basically corresponded to the Second Profession branches.

For example, Dragon Encouragement corresponded to Dragon Priest, Dragon Claw corresponded to Dragon Hunter, Dragon Fang Strike corresponded to Silver Dragon Rider, and so on.

These branches could not really be said to be stronger or weaker than each other. They just had their own characteristics, requiring Lu Fan to make a choice to see which one best suited him.

After careful consideration, Lu Fan first eliminated Dragon Priest.

[Xiao Cui is already a very powerful Support Specialised Dragon, she could completely replace the role of a Dragon Priest. I doubt if I become a Dragon Priest, the support I can provide would be stronger than Xiao Cui’s. In terms of team composition, having one Priest in the team is enough. Changing to Dragon Priest would definitely be the worst match for me.]

[Next up. I’m personally not that interested in Dragon Spellcaster. If I’m Chen Tianzhi, who had a sturdy and durable Armoured Earth Dragon, changing to Dragon Spellcaster would be a good idea. He had his Earth Dragon to take up the frontline, but he lacked Damage Output. It would be perfect for him to become a Dragon Spellcaster to supplement the lack in Damage Output. As for me, I’m different. I have Xiao Ye, who is not lacking in either Physical Attack or Magic Attack.]

[So, it all comes down to these two. What a dilemma. Dragon Hunter and Silver Dragon Rider both really suit me too well. In the first place, Dragon Claw and Dragon Fang Strike are the two Skills I enjoy using the most. Their corresponding prospects are also amazing. Be it carrying Dragon Bloodline and eventually transforming into a Giant Dragon, or becoming a powerful Knight cooperating with my Giant Dragons, both were great. But which of these two paths should I choose?]

Lu Fan slowly opened his eyes and looked at the four lit stone pillars in front of him.

These stone pillars, besides helping the Player develop their Second Profession Change paths, had another function, which was to see which path was best suited for the Player.

Lu Fan was wavering between Dragon Hunter and Silver Dragon Rider, so he decided to look at the reaction of the stone pillars to see if they could give him some indication of which was better for him.

On the four lit stone pillars, some mist appeared, gradually forming into various scenes.

The first scene showed a small figure waving a staff, continuously casting Buffs on a Giant Dragon. The Giant Dragon’s strength also constantly surged as Buffs were applied to it.

This stone pillar represented the Dragon Priest Profession branch.

The other three stone pillars also had similar scenes, outlining the future prospects of each branch.

Lu Fan looked carefully and found that among the four stone pillars, the light from the Dragon Priest and Dragon Hunter pillars was dimmer. This indicated that Lu Fan’s compatibility with these two branches was slightly lower than the other two.

Lu Fan thought for a moment and understood. [It is not that I have a low compatibility with these two Professions, but I just have a deeper understanding of the other two Professions – Dragon Spellcaster and Silver Dragon Rider. My high compatibility with Dragon Spellcaster must be because I’ve already mastered two powerful Dragon Language Magic Skills. As for my compatibility with Silver Dragon Rider, I believe it is because I have been sparring with that Beautiful Senior Sister all this time. I’ve been honing my combat techniques to an extremely high level.]

[Among the four Professions, Silver Dragon Rider emphasised relying on one’s own strength and coordination with my Pet Dragons. This requires a high level of skill in combat. So, among the four stone pillars, that’s why the one representing Silver Dragon Rider is shining the brightest. This clearly indicates that I am most suited to become a Silver Dragon Rider.]

Since Lu Fan was already inclined towards Silver Dragon Rider, and he was most compatible with it, the choice was simple.

Lu Fan made up his mind, closed his eyes again, and continued to meditate.

As Lu Fan meditated, the stone pillar representing Silver Dragon Rider grew brighter and brighter, while the other three pillars dimmed.

Finally, in the entire room, only this one pillar was flashing with dazzling silver light.

The silver light shone on Lu Fan, giving him a more thorough understanding of the Silver Dragon Rider Profession.

After about ten minutes, the light finally dissipated, and everything returned to calm.

Lu Fan slowly opened his eyes, feeling his whole body filled with explosive power, completely different from before.

Lu Fan looked at his Attribute Panel and indeed, his Profession had changed from Dragon Tamer to Silver Dragon Rider. Moreover, he was surprised to find that his Attributes in his Attribute Panel had increased by 50%!

Lu Fan had heard that after completing their Second Profession Change, a Player’s Attributes would change according to the Second Profession.

For example, Swordsmen who chose Sword Saint would have their Mana and Strength Attributes increase, making their Sword Qi slashes more powerful.

Swordsmen who chose War God would have a surge in Endurance and Strength Attributes, giving them stronger physical qualities, able to hold their own even in direct confrontations with Knights.

It was because of these Attribute increases that Second Profession Players were much stronger than First Profession Change Players. Even if they only differed by one Level, there was still a huge gap in Attributes.

However, generally speaking, this Attribute increase or transfer should only hover around 15%. Lu Fan had never heard or seen a case where a Player would have all their Attributes increased by 50%, not even in the textbooks.

[Perhaps this is because my own Attributes are closely related to my Pet Dragon, and since my Pet Dragons are so powerful, this is further reflected in my Attributes after my Second Profession Change, which increases my affinity with them? If that is the case, it would make sense how my increase in Attributes is so drastic compared to other Professions.]

Still, just this 50% increase in Attributes alone significantly boosted his Combat Power by another level. But the changes did not stop there.

The previous Skills were still there, and after Lu Fan’s Second Profession Change, their Levels had all increased.

In addition, two new Second Profession Skills appeared – Fierce Dragon Slash and Dragon Dance.

Fierce Dragon Slash (Active Skill, LV1) – Weapon is imbued with Dragon Power. Caster would move forward quickly and mercilessly slash their enemies. Current number of slashes: 2. When riding a Pet Dragon, the Skill automatically evolves into [Void Break].
Void Break (Active Skill, LV1) – The Pet Dragon gains the ability to charge, able to rush in and impact at extremely high speed, causing terrifying damage. Current number of charges: 4.

Dragon Dance (Active Skill, LV1) – Rapidly attack multiple times. Attacks are all imbued with Dragon Power, and can kill enemies at a range, causing terrifying damage. Current number of attacks: 6. When Pet Dragon is summoned, the Skill can evolve into [Dragon Annihilation].
Dragon Annihilation (Active Skill, LV1) – As the Silver Dragon Rider releases Dragon Dance, the Pet Dragon releases a powerful breath, overlapping with Dragon Dance to form an even more powerful Dragon Language Magic, that stacks with the Dragon Breath Effects.

Although it was said to be two Skills, each Skill could evolve into a new Skill when a Pet Dragon was present, so Lu Fan actually gained four new Skills.

From these two Skills, one can see the Profession Characteristics of Silver Dragon Rider. On its own, a Silver Dragon Rider can utilise Dragon Power to become a more powerful warrior with very strong abilities.

Once a Pet Dragon gets summoned, the Silver Dragon Rider’s Skills undergo changes.

If mounted, Fierce Dragon Slash becomes Void Break.

With just the Pet Dragon being there, Dragon Dance would change into the Dragon Language Magic, Dragon Annihilation.

Overall, Silver Dragon Rider was strong on its own, and even stronger when cooperating with a Dragon.

This Profession Characteristic satisfied Lu Fan greatly. It truly was the best suited for him. As for the power of the new Skills, Lu Fan planned to experiment with them thoroughly in Dungeon Instances later.

Lu Fan was quite satisfied with the results of his Second Profession. After feeling the power within his body again, he no longer wasted time and left the room.

As soon as Lu Fan came out, he was immediately surrounded by Han Ke and the others. Everyone wanted to know what Profession branches Lu Fan’s Second Profession Change had, what choice Lu Fan made, and how powerful his new Second Profession was.

Seeing everyone was so curious, Lu Fan smiled and told them about the four Profession branches he encountered.

“…So, I finally chose Silver Dragon Rider as my Second Profession.” After saying this, Lu Fan spread his hands, “This Profession suits me well, and I also got a piece of equipment that matches with it, the Dragon Riding Saddle. I got it from the Flying Dragon Cemetery, which can really enhance the strength of my Second Profession.”

“Silver Dragon Rider?” Everyone was in uproar.

Tao Xiaoman’s eyes sparkled as she grabbed Lu Fan’s clothes and said, “Your Second Profession’s name sounds so cool: Silver Dragon Rider… Damn…”

Saying this, Tao Xiaoman sighed. “Not like me, I probably only have Sword Saint and War God as branches for my Second Profession. Sword Saint is still okay, but the War God just makes others think of muscle-bound men with huge axes…”

Han Ke’s excitement was no less than Tao Xiaoman’s. After hearing that Lu Fan was now a Silver Dragon Rider, she thought for a moment and said, “Fan’er, since you’re a Silver Dragon Rider now, does that mean you can fly in the sky riding a Dragon like an actual Dragon Knight in the future? Can you also carry others to fly with you?”

Lu Fan smiled and said. “It should be possible. Actually, even if I hadn’t chosen to become a Silver Dragon Rider, I should still be able to ride my Pet Dragons in the future. Just that, to ride them, they need to reach their Maturing Period first. Xiao Ye is still some distance away from her Maturing Period, so I can’t ride them for now.”

Hearing this, the others who had been hoping Lu Fan could take them to experience what it feels like to fly were a bit disappointed. But, carefully thinking about it, Second Profession Changed Knights have their Pet Slots unlocked for Mounts.

Lu Fan had also undergone his Second Profession Change, so he should be able to ride a Dragon soon. Therefore, they would not have to wait too long to ride a Dragon.

After chatting idly with everyone for a while, because Lu Fan still wanted to go home and hatch the Star Sky Dragon King’s Dragon Egg, he suggested that they head back home and rest for a while.

Tomorrow, they could go clear Dungeon Instances again, and Lu Fan would be able to show everyone his Second Profession Skills.

Everyone happily agreed and returned to Villa No. 1 together.

Just as they reached the door of the villa, Lu Fan discovered that there was a familiar figure waiting at the entrance of their villa.
