Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 111, Examination Begins

Originally, everyone was amazed by Chen Tianzhi’s twenty-eight consecutive victories, which made Chen Tianzhi naturally delighted. But the audience just had to bring up Lu Fan again. Many felt that Lu Fan, as the top ranked student, should be even better than Chen Tianzhi, which instantly made Chen Tianzhi vexed.

At this moment, Jin Zhu walked onto the arena, with a smile on her face. “Congratulations on your twenty-eight consecutive victories. I’m afraid many people in this arena, even in Dragon Capital University, will now know your name, Chen Tianzhi.”

Faced with Jin Zhu, Chen Tianzhi did not dare show any disrespect. He put away his Earth Dragon and bowed, saying, “It’s no use for everyone to know my name. I’ve fought my way up from eighteenth place in the freshman rankings to seventh place, and achieved twenty-eight consecutive victories here. However, in others’ eyes, I’m still behind Lu Fan. I just can’t accept this!”

“Why care about them?” Jin Zhu glanced at everyone present and sneered, “Lower Life Forms, blind as they are, typically remain none the wiser.”

Chen Tianzhi’s expression changed when he heard Jin Zhu insulting people of Dragon Country, but he did not refute.

Jin Zhu continued: “When the freshmen exam comes, you can prove your Strength there. Prove that you’re stronger than Lu Fan. This time, in the freshmen exam, I want you to get first place, is there any problem with that?”

Chen Tianzhi nodded and confidently said, “If it’s a Solo or Multiplayer PvP, I might not be able to say much. But it is a 2v2, with you, Princess, participating with me, I’m fully confident of claiming first place!”

After a pause, Chen Tianzhi added, “In this competition, I only need to be concerned about Lu Fan and Jian Ying, as well as those two teams from Wind Cloud Pavilion. I’m confident that with your help, Princess, we can sweep them all!”

The Wind Cloud Pavilion Chen Tianzhi mentioned was the team formed by the four students ranked third, fourth, fifth, and sixth among the freshmen. Because the third ranked freshman was named Jiang Fengyun, they named the team Wind Cloud Pavilion.

(Silavin: Fengyun (风云) – Literally Wind Cloud)

In addition to the core members consisting of four of the top six ranked freshmen, it was said that Wind Cloud Pavilion has already developed to a scale of about twenty people. Among them, there are as many as six Noble Class Students inside, making it the largest force among the freshmen.

The people from Wind Cloud Pavilion had naturally also invited Chen Tianzhi to join, but Chen Tianzhi directly refused because he had to work for Jin Zhu.

Undoubtedly, just the core members of Wind Cloud Pavilion could form two powerful teams that Chen Tianzhi needed to be on guard against.

If he could defeat Lu Fan, Jian Ying, and the two teams from Wind Cloud Pavilion, Chen Tianzhi would surely secure the top spot on the leaderboard!

Chen Tianzhi was very confident, but little did he know that even if he really became first, his total points would still not be as high as Lu Fan due to his granted points alone.

Jin Zhu knew how strong Chen Tianzhi was, and also knew what kind of power she, as a Spirit Witch, could exert when paired with an Earth Dragon.

If Chen Tianzhi really became the top ranked of the Noble Class, and enjoyed a large amount of resources from Dragon Capital University, once he left Dragon Country after graduation to become a pillar of support for Extremistis Country, would that not make the people of Dragon Country furious?

Thinking of this, Jin Zhu could not help but feel extreme delight. After laughing uncontrollably for a moment, Jin Zhu became serious and lowered her voice, “You must perform well in this freshmen exam. My Brother, Jin Chenghan, the top prodigy of Extremistis Country, will come out of seclusion in a while. He might come here to see me at that time. I will introduce you to him, and if you can get first place among the freshmen, I guess he will look at you differently. By then, after you join my Jin Family, with my Brother’s help, we will be able to really pour resources into you and quickly take you to the next step to get a lot stronger.”

Hearing this, Chen Tianzhi was overjoyed and bowed, promising, “Don’t worry, Princess, I definitely won’t let you down! When the Prince comes, I will make sure he knows that with me guarding you, no one can harm you!”

“Hehe, you really are my best servant!” Jin Zhu was particularly satisfied, patting Chen Tianzhi’s head, slightly narrowing her eyes.

…

Early the next morning.

The arena was suddenly packed. Besides the two to three thousand freshmen coming to participate in the freshmen exam, many Senior Students also came to watch the freshmen exam live.

Fortunately, these Senior Students were quite sensible. Although they came to watch, they maintained order at the scene and left a path for the freshmen.

This ensured that the progress of the freshmen exam would not be delayed due to having too many spectators.

Soon, all the freshmen arrived. Except for some candidates who voluntarily gave up, everyone received their own Transfer Stones.

These Transfer Stones were split in two, ensuring that teammates would be teleported to the same Battle Ring.

In the arena, there was a special function called the Battle Ring. Within the arena were Battle Rings, thousands of independent small spaces. that were sustained for Profession Change students to engage in simultaneous battles.

At the same time, the audience on-site could use their electronic devices to connect with the feed from the Battle Ring and watch them fight live. This was somewhat similar to the live streaming in Lu Fan’s previous life.

In short, it was very convenient.

The arena was very large, and soon, all the freshmen participating in the exam were holding their Transfer Stones, ready to go.

The person presiding over the freshmen exam this time was not Zhao Shengming, but another Vice Principal. He was not as efficient as Zhao Shengming in handling things. First, he talked about some irrelevant matters, then reiterated the exam rules, and finally reminded everyone that everything in the Battle Ring was real. Thus, they must stop at the right point and not cause any casualties.

After spending a full half an hour, the Vice Principal finally announced the official start of this year’s freshmen exam.

Everyone turned into white light and was teleported into the Battle Rings.

After the freshmen were teleported away, the Senior Students who came to watch the excitement started using their phones and tablets to connect to the exclusive signal from the Battle Ring, looking for the live feed of the freshmen they wanted to watch.

“Quick, find out where Lu Fan’s live feed is. He’s the first ranked freshmen. I haven’t seen his Dragon yet. I finally have the chance to see it today!”

“I’m very interested in Jian Ying, who’s ranked second. I’ve watched her previous major exam stream recording more than ten times. She is not only very pretty, but her Profession is extremely strong. Watching her fight will be a sight to see… certainly pleasing to the eye”

“Oh my, look, Lu Fan, the first ranked, and Jian Ying, the second ranked, are on the same team! This is really amazing!”

“What!? They’re on the same team!? The first and second ranked are teaming up, isn’t this bullying? They have basically claimed the championship…”

“Not necessarily. There are many strong Players in Wind Cloud Pavilion. I heard that the third and fourth ranked had formed a team, as did the fifth and sixth ranked. Since everyone’s ranking is within the top ten, they should be on par with one another. It’s hard to say who can defeat whom.”

“You mean, this year’s top two freshmen are teaming up, and the third and fourth ranked have teamed up, and the fifth and sixth ranked have teamed up? Wow, this is really interesting. When has there ever been such an exciting freshmen exam in recent years?”

“In my opinion, you’re all taking the early rankings too seriously. In previous years, those who performed well in the freshmen exam are not necessarily those that started off with high rankings, right? Good exam results do not necessarily mean they are strong in PvP, just like how bookworms might not necessarily have any real ability.”

“Yeah, I’d say you should pay attention to Chen Tianzhi. It’s said that his points have climbed to seventh place after a month of plundering in the arena. He recently achieved twenty-eight consecutive victories there. Even some Second Profession Change Players in the sophomore year could not withstand the power of his Pet Dragon. His Combat Power is incredible!”

“What? A First Profession Change Player defeating a Second Profession Change Player? How is that possible? If he’s really that powerful, he might have a chance to claim the championship.”

“Are all Dragon Tamers that strong? Lu Fan is ranked first and he is also a Dragon Tamer. He should be no weaker than Chen Tianzhi, right? If two Dragon Tamers form a team, it would probably be very interesting to watch. A pity that the South Province’s Twin Stars didn’t team up.”

“Come on, still hoping for two Dragon Tamers to team up? I heard that Chen Tianzhi has repeatedly stated that his relationship with Lu Fan is not good. They will never team up. Still, we might be able to see two Dragon Tamers face off against each other. That is also a great scene to watch out for. In this year’s freshmen exam, what I want to see most is what kind of Dragon Lu Fan has, and who’s better between him and Chen Tianzhi.”

“Yeah, me too…”

The freshmen exam had not even started, but all the Senior Students who came to watch were already excited. Everyone found the freshmen they were interested in and started to watch the live stream.

It could be seen that Lu Fan, as a mysterious Dragon Tamer, was extremely popular. Combined with the second ranked Jian Ying, their team had garnered the most attention. At least a third of the audience was watching their live stream.

Among the rest, Chen Tianzhi and Jin Zhu also garnered a lot of attention, followed by those from Wind Cloud Pavilion like Jiang Fengyun.

Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman, who had just been selected to be within the Top Ten Freshman Beauties, also attracted the attention of many spectators with their team-up.

…

Meanwhile,Lu Fan and Jian Ying were teleported together into their exclusive Battle Ring. It was similar to the major exam, an independent space with nothing but chaos at its boundaries.

Jian Ying was right beside Lu Fan, and about a hundred metres away on the opposite side, two other people were also teleported in.

However, there was a barrier separating the two teams, allowing both sides to prepare before choosing to start the battle. This was to prevent anyone from being ambushed during the teleportation.

Lu Fan and Jian Ying’s first opponents were a Knight and a Mage. Lu Fan did not recognise them, but they were definitely not really that strong.

These two also saw their opponents. Once they realised they were up against Lu Fan and Jian Ying, their faces dropped, almost in tears. They wondered, [What kind of shitty luck is this? Why did we have to face off against the first and second ranked in the very first match!?]
