Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 117, The Differences Between Dragon Tamers

Translator: Silavin

Chen Tianzhi’s heavy sword fell first, but Lu Fan easily blocked it by simply raising his Black Dragon Scale Greatsword.

There was no choice; even with Jin Zhu’s Buffs, the gap in Attributes between Chen Tianzhi and Lu Fan was too large.

However, Chen Tianzhi was sharp. When one attack failed, his other hand thrust forward with the Dragon Spear.

“Earth Dragon Strike!” The tip of Chen Tianzhi’s spear flashed with a green light as it stabbed towards Lu Fan.

Lu Fan narrowed his eyes slightly. In his hands, the Black Dragon Scale Greatsword moved as swiftly as a weightless sword. With a single horizontal sweep, he knocked Chen Tianzhi’s Dragon Spear away, dissolving the Skill along with it.

Chen Tianzhi retreated repeatedly, his whole person looking extremely fierce. It was hard to tell if this was due to anger or the effects of Jin Zhu’s Buffs.

Clearly, even if he fought to the death, he was no match for Lu Fan.

Relying on just his Strength Attribute advantage alone, Lu Fan could easily overwhelm him.

Still, Chen Tianzhi had no intention of surrendering. He gritted his teeth, looking for opportunities to continue his attacks.

Lu Fan, on the other hand, had noticed something strange. Despite his advantage, he did not rush in to attack. Instead, he watched Chen Tianzhi with interest and curiously asked, “By the way, the Dragon Claw Skill should be more suitable for close combat, why aren’t you using it?”

Hearing this, Chen Tianzhi replied in a hoarse voice, “Dragon Claw? What Dragon Claw? Is that the Skill you used earlier?”

“You don’t have this Skill?” Lu Fan felt somewhat strange.

Actually, after engaging with Chen Tianzhi, he had already sensed something odd. His Skills – Dragon Encouragement, Dragon Fang Strike, Dragon Claw – were all Skills he possessed after activating his Profession Characteristics, not learned through Skill Books. Logically, as a Dragon Tamer, Chen Tianzhi should also have these Skills once he had a Pet Dragon.

However, the Skills Chen Tianzhi used were those Lu Fan had never heard of before.

[Dragon’s Determination, Earth Dragon Strike, they all seemed like Low Grade versions of Dragon Encouragement and Dragon Fang Strike. As for Dragon Claw, Chen Tianzhi had never even heard of it before…]. After a moment’s thought, Lu Fan suddenly understood.

The reason why they had different Skills despite both being Dragon Tamers was likely due to the vast difference between Chen Tianzhi’s Dragon and his own.

[A Dragon Tamer’s Strength must be linked to the Strength of their Dragon. My Pet Dragons are a Black Dragon King and a Jade Dragon King. I am growing with these two Dragon Kings. This  naturally makes me powerful, since the two Dragon Kings contained the purest Dragon Bloodline.]

[So for Chen Tianzhi’s Pet Dragon, it is just an Earth Dragon. Such a weak Pet Dragon I guess is not enough to fully activate the very strong Profession Characteristics for Chen Tianzhi. So, all his Skills are Low Grade versions of my Skills.]

[Still, even in a Lower Grade form, the power of a Dragon Tamer and his Earth Dragon still placed Chen Tianzhi among the ranks of strong Players. It’s just that he can’t really be compared to me… the difference between us is like Heaven and Earth.] After understanding all this, Lu Fan lost all interest in Chen Tianzhi.

He shook his head and smiled, “Indeed, just trash after all.”

“Go lie in the hospital and reflect on yourself. Did your Father and Mother bring you into this world just to be a Dog? Unworthy as a Son, unworthy as a citizen, yet you have the face to be a bootlicker by Jin Zhu’s side?” After saying this, Lu Fan added Wind Spirit Whisperer Blessing to himself, increasing his Agility by 35%.

He tapped his foot, his entire body leaving a blurred afterimage as he instantly appeared in front of Chen Tianzhi with his Black Dragon Scale Greatsword raised high.

[So fast!] Chen Tianzhi was shocked. Seeing Lu Fan’s greatsword suspended above his head, he instinctively raised all the weapons in his hands, trying to block Lu Fan’s strike.

However, how could he possibly block this strike?

“Dragon Fang Strike!” Lu Fan’s sword fell. The blade did not directly hit Chen Tianzhi, but the Skill Effect Range of Dragon Fang Strike enveloped him.

Instantly, a phantom Dragon Head appeared, biting fiercely onto Chen Tianzhi.

With a loud *boom*, the stage collapsed, stones shattered, and smoke billowed.

In the dust, all of Chen Tianzhi’s equipment were simultaneously cracked, and all the weapons in his hands broke into several pieces, scattered all over the ground.

Chen Tianzhi’s whole body trembled. The next second, he fell to the ground with a *thud*. His breathing was weak, but he was not in mortal danger.

Lu Fan would not kill him here, so he held back with his Dragon Fang Strike.

After dealing with Chen Tianzhi, Lu Fan put away his Black Dragon Scale Greatsword and looked up at Jin Zhu.

Just one glance made Jin Zhu’s legs go weak, nearly causing her to fall on her backside.

She had been hoping that Chen Tianzhi could at least take a chunk out of Lu Fan, but now it was apparent that even if Chen Tianzhi had shattered all his teeth, he would not be able to harm Lu Fan in the slightest!

Jin Zhu came to her senses and immediately wanted to raise both hands high and shout that she surrendered.

As long as she surrendered, Lu Fan could not touch her.

Unfortunately, how could Lu Fan not know of this little plan of hers?

Compared to Chen Tianzhi, the one Lu Fan really wanted to teach a lesson to was Jin Zhu. After all, Chen Tianzhi lacked ambition and willingly became a servant because he wanted to climb up. What he showed was his strong gratitude towards Jin Zhu. He was more pitiful than hateful.

However, Jin Zhu was different. She was arrogant and willful, considering herself superior to everyone else. She was even thinking of poaching from Dragon Country, enslaving Chen Tianzhi and the Earth Dragon. Lu Fan certainly would not miss this chance to teach such a person a lesson.

Almost as soon as Jin Zhu was about to indicate her surrender, Lu Fan had already Flash Spirit Leaped in front of her and slapped her across the face.

With a crisp slap, Jin Zhu was sent flying three metres, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.

This time, Lu Fan’s slap was even harder than the last time, nearly knocking Jin Zhu unconscious with a single blow.

The intense pain on her face made Jin Zhu dizzy. She was now seeing stars.

But before she could react, she felt someone grab her collar and pull her up from the ground.

Of course, it was Lu Fan who pulled her up.

Lu Fan did not immediately slap her a second time, but looked at Jin Zhu and smiled, “Little Princess, didn’t you say earlier that you’d have Chen Tianzhi tear me and my Black Dragon King to pieces? Why are you so miserable now?”

“You…” Jin Zhu’s speech was slurred due to her swollen face, “Don’t be too arrogant…”

“What if I’m arrogant?” Lu Fan slapped Jin Zhu across the face again with the back of his hand.

This time, the force was not as great, but it still made Jin Zhu cry in pain. Both her cheeks swelling evenly again, leaving her with no trace of beauty.

Even so, Jin Zhu’s mouth did not soften. Instead, she threatened, “Let me tell you, my Big Brother is the top prodigy among the younger generation in Extremistis Country. He’ll be coming to see me soon. You’ve hit me twice, I’ll have him take revenge for me, and pay you back double!”

“Oh?” Lu Fan lightly exclaimed, then slapped her again, “Well, now I owe you and your Brother two more slaps. I just don’t know if he’ll have the ability to make me repay when the time comes.”

“You…” Jin Zhu was almost about to spit blood. She knew now that any threat was useless against Lu Fan. However, to beg Lu Fan for mercy was something she absolutely could not do.

At this moment, there was some commotion at the scene.

Because everyone could see that Lu Fan had actually already secured victory. If he wanted, he could knock Jin Zhu unconscious now and declare his victory.

However, Lu Fan had no intention of claiming victory in the match. Instead, he seemed intent on teaching Jin Zhu a lesson, repeatedly slapping the defenceless Jin Zhu several times.

This made many unaware ‘white knights’ very dissatisfied, openly criticising Lu Fan for going too much, using such harsh methods on a young girl, and such a beautiful young girl at that.

However, there were also some people who found watching Lu Fan hit Jin Zhu quite satisfying. After all, Jin Zhu had publicly slapped Chen Tianzhi earlier, which had made many people disgruntled.

Now, Lu Fan was just doing the same to Jin Zhu as what she did to Chen Tianzhi. It did not seem excessive to them. In the first place, Jin Zhu was someone from Extremistis Country, and she dared to unjustly slap someone from Dragon Country, on stage, and in their own country! This would make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Lu Fan’s actions made many feel vindicated.

Just as everyone was discussing the match, the protective barrier on the stage suddenly disappeared.

With a lightning arc tracing across the sky and landing on the stage, another person appeared beside Lu Fan.

This person was none other than Zhao Shengming, who had arrived at some unknown time.

After entering the field, Zhao Shengming directly announced. “For the first match of the semifinals, the winners are Lu Fan and Jian Ying! This match is now over!”

Lu Fan glanced at Zhao Shengming, understanding that Zhao Shengming was afraid he might go too far and cause trouble or discussion among other students.

Thus, he stopped. [I guess today’s lesson for Jin Zhu is enough.]

He let go, and Jin Zhu collapsed to the ground, her eyes unfocused, not daring to say another harsh word to Lu Fan.

Zhao Shengming immediately called over the Priests on standby at the scene to take both Chen Tianzhi and Jin Zhu away to the infirmary for treatment. At the same time, Zhao Shengming walked up to Lu Fan and said in a low voice, “I understand there are grudges between you and Jin Zhu. Although the stage is a good place to resolve personal grudges, doing this might lead to criticism from those who don’t know the truth.”

Lu Fan smiled, looking completely unconcerned, “So what? I don’t care how others see me.”

“…” Zhao Shengming was speechless. After shaking his head, he said, “Come with me to my office now. I have something to tell you.”

“Alright.” Lu Fan nodded. Although he did not know why Zhao Shengming wanted to see him, he agreed.

At the same time, with Lu Fan’s victory, the scene erupted in applause.

Although everyone still had not seen Lu Fan’s Dragon in the end, the Combat Power Lu Fan had demonstrated was enough to convince everyone of how strong he was.

If Lu Fan alone was this powerful, who could be his match when his Dragon appeared?

This battle of two Dragons had not disappointed anyone.

The big screen in the arena showed Lu Fan and Jian Ying passing to the next round.

Suddenly, a few sharp-eyed people noticed something and excitedly shouted, “Quickly look, Jiang Fengyun’s team and Lu Fan have both passed! Looks like they will be facing each other soon!”
