Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 139, No Matter How Strong You Are, Can You Be Stronger Than a Dragon?

Translator: Silavin

[He disappeared in an instant? How can a Swordsman use the Mage Skill, Blink?] This thought entered the Senior Guardian Knight’s mind, and he suddenly remembered something.

[Wait. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this Skill. On the first day of the freshmen exam, because the first floor of the Arena was occupied, and there were too many people on the second floor, I had nowhere to go. At the time, I followed the crowd and watched a live stream of the freshmen exam. At that time, I watched the most popular live stream, which featured the Dragon Tamer who ranked first amongst the freshmen! At the start of the match, that freshman used a Skill similar to Blink to instantly defeat his opponent.]

Although the Senior Guardian Knight was there, this match did not leave a deep impression on him since he was not that particularly interested in the freshmen exam. Nevertheless, he still heard the occasional news of the Dragon Tamer, that he was incredibly strong. He even heard that the Dragon Tamer fought against an Earth Dragon with his Human body and became famous overnight. But later, for some unknown reason, the Dragon Tamer voluntarily withdrew from the freshmen exam.

When the Senior Guardian Knight saw Lu Fan’s Flash Spirit Leap, memories of that match was recalled. Lu Fan’s appearance instantly merged with the image of that Dragon Tamer in the freshmen exam live broadcast, becoming very clear.

All at once, he understood. His opponent was indeed Level 28, there was no mistake about it. However, he was the Dragon Tamer who was currently the most prominent in Dragon Capital University!

According to rumours, he had instantly killed an Earth Dragon without even summoning his Pet Dragon. He was the strongest freshman!

Instantly, cold sweat broke out on the Senior Guardian Knight. At the same time, he sensed something rushing towards him from behind, clearly something was being thrown at him.

The Senior Guardian Knight, as a PvP veteran who had been immersed in the Arena for many years, had outstanding combat awareness. Even with a moment’s distraction, he still adjusted his mentality in time. He turned around to take a defensive stance, and used his Skill as a Second Profession Change Level 41 Guardian Knight, Holy Light Protection.

A beam of holy light fell, forming a barrier around him to block the incoming attack.

But when Lu Fan’s sword came down, its power far exceeded the Senior Guardian Knight’s imagination.

Holy Light Protection, originally the signature defensive Skill of Guardian Knights, was shattered by Lu Fan’s power. Then the blade of the Black Dragon Scale Greatsword hit his body, severely deforming the expensive Silver Equipment armour he had on.

The Senior Guardian Knight spat blood and was sent flying, from start to finish, he had only managed to use one defensive Skill, which could not even block the attack.

There was no help for it, Lu Fan’s Strength Attribute was simply far higher than his Endurance Attribute, easily breaking through his defence with a single strike.

The Senior Guardian Knight flew over ten metres before landing, directly falling unconscious.

This sparring match also came to an end within five seconds.

Lu Fan looked at the Senior Guardian Knight, thinking to himself. [Ah, I should have held back more. I shouldn’t have used my full power in an attack so casually…]

Although Lu Fan had already shown mercy, not directly slashing with the sharper edge of the sword but using its flat body, the opponent was still unable to withstand it. It was also fortunate that Lu Fan did not use the edge, otherwise this Senior Guardian Knight would have been cut in two.

Because someone had fallen unconscious, the match was naturally judged as Lu Fan’s victory.

The Senior Guardian Knight was directly teleported from the VIP Arena to the medical bay on the third floor of the Arena, to receive treatment from the University’s Priests. Naturally, the 100 points he had wagered before entering the Open Ring fell into Lu Fan’s identity card.

With this, the points spent on opening a VIP Arena had already been earned back.

Lu Fan smiled, then received a prompt asking if he wanted to exercise his right to rest. Resting would be for half an hour before he would continue to open up for others to challenge his Open Ring.

Lu Fan had hardly expended any energy just now, so he naturally chose no.

Almost instantly, after Lu Fan chose to reopen the Open Ring, another Senior, who wanted to take advantage of him, was teleported in to spar with Lu Fan.

The result was predictable. Even though Lu Fan had restrained himself, and did not use Skills like Dragon Fang Strike, which had great destructive power, wanting to simply hone his combat awareness and gain more experience, the opponent was still unable to withstand it. Within five minutes, the opponent was defeated.

Then came the third, the fourth…

Lu Fan’s Endurance Attribute was very high, not only was his defence astonishing, but his Stamina was also far more abundant than the average person. Moreover, none of the opponents he faced were that strong, so Lu Fan defeated them one after another, achieving eight consecutive victories.

This record was not anything special in the Arena. Those that were strong could easily achieve eight consecutive victories, if they did not encounter a particularly formidable opponent.

Still, when this winning streak was achieved by a Level 28 Ring Master, which was particularly strange.

At the beginning, the group of people in the lounge all treated Lu Fan, the Ring Master, as a fat sheep. Every time the Ninth VIP Arena was opened to the public, someone would rush in, wanting to challenge him.

As for the failures of the previous challengers, everyone had not really taken it to heart. After all, it was just a Level 28 First Profession Change Player, how powerful could he be?

To them, those who went to challenge before and ended up losing were either too careless, or were too weak. They believed they just needed to be a little more careful, and there was absolutely no way they could fail.

As a result, there was a continuous stream of people that were eventually sent to the third floor to obediently receive treatment from the Priests.

As Lu Fan achieved his ninth consecutive victory, the PvP maniacs in the lounge finally noticed something was amiss.

If one or two people were careless and got beaten, it was still understandable. However, nine people went to challenge in succession, and all failed. Something must be amiss!

This Ninth VIP Arena was like a man-eating Monster, whoever went in would not come out. This was too strange, was it not?

Was the Ring Master of the Ninth VIP Arena really a Level 28 Profession Change Professional? Could it be that there was a problem with the arena’s system, and the defending Ring Master was not actually Level 28, but a Higher Level Player?

If that was the case, it would be too shameless. Displaying the false information of a Level 28 Ring Master, and offering a high wager of 100 points was just fishing for challengers!

With nine ‘pioneers’ having already fallen, the remaining people naturally did not dare to easily try the Ninth VIP Arena. The situation surrounding it was strange, and if they lost, they would lose 100 points.

Just as everyone was discussing, wanting to find an assistant to check if there was a problem with the Level being displayed, the first Senior Guardian Knight came staggering over.

“Everyone… everyone, don’t go to the ninth arena at all costs! It will be like jumping into a pit of fire! Whoever jumps in dies!” The Senior Guardian Knight warned everyone as soon as he arrived.

Someone on the scene immediately recognised him as the first person who went in to challenge the Ninth VIP Arena.

Everyone hurriedly came forward to surround him, asking what had happened, why everyone who went to challenge the Ninth VIP Arena failed, how was it that not a single person had returned?

“How could they come back? Everyone is recuperating on the third floor!” The Senior Guardian Knight was both angry and helpless. He pointed at the Ninth VIP Arena on the display screen and said, “What Level 28, what 100 points? It’s all bait!”

“Huh!?” Many people gasped, even more firmly believing that someone must be cheating. Someone must have tinkered with the Level being displayed, and the Ring Master of the Ninth VIP Arena was using this to fish for challengers, scamming everyone of their points!

“This is too shameless, how could Dragon Capital University actually enrol someone like this!?” For a moment, everyone was furious.

Others also chimed in: “That’s right, this is too despicable! Let’s go find a teacher and report this student.”

“Using this method to deceive others for their points. We must deduct all his points and compensate those who have suffered losses!”

“Let’s go! I’ll go to the Student Affairs Department first and have the teachers thoroughly investigate this!”

Seeing everyone so agitated and about to report, the Senior Guardian Knight hurriedly stopped them. “No, that’s not what I mean! The Ring Master of the Ninth VIP Arena did not cheat, he really is Level 28…”

When the Senior Guardian Knight said this, everyone was confused again.

[Really Level 28!?]

[Could a Level 28 really achieve nine consecutive victories?]

Them thinking this way was fair since this Guardian Knight alone was a Level 42 Second Profession Change Player. How could he have been beaten so badly that he was sent to the third floor, and only came down now?

Seeing that everyone was at a loss, the Senior Guardian Knight thought for a moment and said one sentence that made everyone understand what was going on.

“The Ring Master of the Ninth VIP Arena is Lu Fan! The one who won against an Earth Dragon on his own, that Dragon Tamer, Lu Fan!”

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire lounge fell silent, so quiet they could hear a pin drop.

Among the people present, although many were like this Senior Guardian Knight, not interested in the freshmen exam, they had all heard of Lu Fan’s name. They naturally heard of his accomplishments as well.

Two Dragon Tamers with Pet Dragons clashing head-on. Everyone thought it would be an evenly matched contest. But what happened?

That Dragon Tamer named Lu Fan fought one against two, even overwhelming the Earth Dragon with his own physical strength. He later used Dragon Language Magic to easily defeat the other Dragon Tamer, who had the aid of a Support Specialised Hidden Profession Player and an Earth Dragon.

After this battle, Lu Fan became famous overnight, and became recognised as a freak. Such a person, could he really be measured merely by his Level being 28?

If they had known earlier that the Ninth VIP Arena was being hosted by Lu Fan, they would have never dared go in to challenge him! After all, no matter how strong they were, could they beat a Dragon?

Lu Fan had even knocked down a Dragon with brute force. If anyone went in, were they not seeking death!?

Suddenly everyone understood why the Ring Master of the Ninth VIP Arena had already achieved nine consecutive victories. It was not because its Ring Master was cheating, but simply because he was the Dragon Tamer, Lu Fan.

Lu Fan had not cheated, so talks of reporting him was even more nonsensical. The only thing everyone present could do was to stay far away from the Ninth VIP Arena, and when they saw a VIP Arena with a Level 28 Ring Master, they should never enter. Otherwise, they would be slaughtered like Pigs.

[Lu Fan had actually set up such a trap, how shameless…]

Just as everyone was internally complaining about Lu Fan pretending to be a Pig to eat Tiger, ‘scamming’ everyone of their points, they all checked the Ninth VIP Arena again for it to display ‘Match Won’.

Clearly, someone had entered the Ninth VIP Arena again to challenge Lu Fan…
