Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 106, Xiao Cui Can Do More Than Just Heal

Translator: Silavin

Xiao Cui might only be Level 5 now, but her Mana Attribute had already broken past 1,000. If Lu Fan remembered correctly, when Xiao Ye was Level 9, none of her Attributes had broken past four digits.

The increase in Mana Attribute points greatly benefited the potency of Xiao Cui’s Skills. The higher the Mana Attributes, the stronger the Skills when released, and the shorter the cooldown time.

Without such a High Mana Attribute and Skill Level increase, Xiao Cui would not even need to be able to easily heal everyone present. After all, she could just keep casting Jade Shield on demand.

Furthermore, the Mana Attribute had a decisive effect on the Spring of Life Skill. It was similar to the Light Blessing Skill available to Second Profession Change Priests. However, without Xiao Ye’s High Mana Attribute, the Stamina and Mana Recovery Speed provided by a Second Profession Change Priest’s Light Blessing Skills certainly would not be as impactful.

Besides the pleasing growth in Mana Attribute, Xiao Cui’s Skills had all increased by one Level, so the Buff Effects should be stronger. Not to mention anything else, just the Jade Shield Skill alone, changing from three shields to five, was a significant improvement.

Moreover, if this Skill was used on Lu Fan and Xiao Ye, the number of shields would reach ten!

In intense combat, a single missed attack or Skill could change the outcome of the battle. With Lu Fan directly having ten chances to be Immune to attacks, the error tolerance had been maxed out for him. How could any opponent fight against this?

Even if the enemy managed to break through the shields with great effort, Lu Fan could just have Xiao Cui cast another one.

With Xiao Cui’s current 1000+ Mana Attribute, if she applied LV2 Jade Light to herself, plus Lu Fan’s LV3 Dragon Encouragement, her Attribute points would nearly triple, reaching 2700! With such a High Mana Attribute, continuously casting Jade Shield on Lu Fan would not be a problem!

One could imagine that when Xiao Cui’s Level and Jade Shield Skill Level got higher, Xiao Cui could make Lu Fan’s opponents despair with just this one Skill.

By then, before a big battle, Lu Fan and his Giant Dragons would each be surrounded by dozens of Jade Shields. Before the opponent could break them, Xiao Cui would cast this Skill again to create new shields. Seeing this, would  the opponent not get a brain haemorrhage?

Lastly, and most excitingly for Lu Fan, was that after reaching Level 5, Xiao Cui had actually learned a new Skill.

It was truly to be expected of a Support Specialised Dragon, she had many more Skills than Xiao Ye, the Black Dragon.

Xiao Ye only learned Form Change, and gained a few more Skills when she reached Level 10 and entered the Growth Period.

However, Xiao Cui had gained another Skill at just Level 5.

From the description, it seemed to be an offensive Skill, imbuing teammates’ attacks with Special Additional Damage.

But exactly how powerful this so-called ‘Jade Dragon Qi’ still needed to be verified.

Lu Fan thought for a moment and realised that since they were still in the Dungeon Instance, there should be some remaining Monsters nearby. He might as well test Xiao Cui’s new Skill on them.

If they left now, they’d have to wait until tomorrow to enter the Dungeon Instance again to test Xiao Cui’s new Skill. Lu Fan feared he would not be able to sleep tonight due to anticipation. So, Lu Fan stopped everyone who was about to leave and told them about Xiao Cui’s new Skill.

Everyone’s curiosity about Xiao Cui’s new Skill was no less than Lu Fan’s.

The world-ending power that Xiao Ye had just displayed had aroused everyone’s curiosity about the power of Giant Dragons. They all wanted to see what kind of power the Skill that Xiao Cui learned at Level 5 would have.

Everyone instantly agreed. Since they had already cleared the Dungeon Instance, they might as well go back to find a Monster to test Xiao Cui’s new Skill before leaving.

Everyone started walking back, looking to see if there were any Monsters left in the Poison Spider Forest.

Soon, they indeed found a Silver Armoured Spider. This Silver Armoured Spider was very cooperative, completely unaware that its entire Family and all its Siblings had been wiped out by these people with one Great Cataclysm.

Upon seeing Lu Fan and the others, it frantically rushed towards them, smashing through several thick trees in succession.

Lu Fan had no intention of taking action himself, because if he did, he could easily kill the Silver Armoured Spider. It wouldn’t demonstrate the usefulness of Jade Blessing.

“Jian Ying, I’ll have Xiao Cui give you a Buff, and you try with your Blood Breaking Sword,” Lu Fan said, looking at Jian Ying beside him.

Jian Ying nodded and took out her Blood Breaking Sword.

Under Lu Fan’s command, Xiao Cui applied the Jade Blessing Buff to Jian Ying. Instantly, three streams of glowing emerald green mist appeared around Jian Ying, dancing around and very apparent.

Jian Ying felt amazing. By now, the Silver Armoured Spider had charged over, and she did not have time to carefully observe these three streams of mist. She directly controlled her sword to fly out, with the Blood Breaking Sword soaring through the air.

At the same time, one of the light mists attached to the Blood Breaking Sword, flying out together with it and striking the Silver Armoured Spider.

The moment the Blood Breaking Sword collided with the Silver Armoured Spider, the glowing emerald green mist exploded, taking effect before the sword even pierced through.

Originally, the Blood Breaking Sword would not be able to pierce through the Silver Armoured Spider’s hard skin. However, the glowing emerald green mist was like an attached explosive to the Blood Breaking Sword. The Special Additional Damage directly blasted open the Silver Armoured Spider’s body!

With a loud *bang*, the Blood Breaking Sword easily passed through the Silver Armoured Spider’s body, blasting a hole through it as big as a washbasin.

The Silver Armoured Spider was pierced by one sword strike. Its body rolled several times due to inertia while charging forward, finally stopping less than ten metres in front of everyone, belly up. Its eight legs twitched a few times before it completely lost its life.

In an instant, everyone fell silent again.

One sword strike, instant kill!?

The most astonished was Jian Ying.

She knew very well how tough the Silver Armoured Spider’s skin was. She had to previously use the Blood Breaking Sword along with her Mountain Shaking Skill to instantly kill it.

However, with just the Buff from the Jade Dragon, and the Additional Damage allowed the Blood Breaking Sword to easily kill the Silver Armoured Spider. [Isn’t this too incredible!? A simple Buff made my casual strike with the Blood Breaking Sword reach around the same level of Damage as if I had used my Skill! Didn’t this just directly increase my strength by several fold?]

Lu Fan, standing nearby, also fell into deep thought after seeing this scene.

He originally thought that the Jade Blessing Skill should have an Enhancement Effect. But from the results, the Skill effect was clearly not Enhancement but more like Addition.

These two effects were completely different concepts.

To simply put it, Enhancement would increase the power of Jian Ying’s sword strike just now. The stronger Jian Ying was, the greater the increase would be. While Addition purely depended on Xiao Cui’s Mana Attribute. The higher Xiao Cui’s Mana Attribute, the higher the damage of Jade Dragon Qi.

To verify his thoughts, Lu Fan led the group to find another Silver Armoured Spider.

However, this time, he let Qin Qiu take action.

Qin Qiu was very unconfident at first, because her Damage could barely break through the defence of Background Monsters, let alone the Silver Armoured Spider that even Jian Ying had trouble with.

But with Lu Fan’s encouragement, she casted a Holy Light Bullet with Jade Blessing.

The result was unexpected. Qin Qiu’s Holy Light Bullet actually instantly killed the Silver Armoured Spider.

Of course, it was evident that the power of the Holy Light Bullet itself did not have much of an effect. Rather, it was the Jade Dragon Qi attached to the Holy Light Bullet that was powerful. The Jade Dragon Qi had directly blasted the Silver Armoured Spider’s skin open.

This time, it was Qin Qiu’s turn to be shocked.

She never imagined that she would have a day when one of her Skills could instantly kill a Level 45 Elite Monster.

This further confirmed Lu Fan’s belief that the power of the Jade Dragon Qi attached by Jade Blessing was related to Xiao Cui’s Mana Attribute.

Xiao Cui could use this Skill to directly convert her extremely High Mana Attribute into Damage Output, rather than just healing.

With Jade Blessing, it was equivalent to having a Dragon with 2700 Mana Attribute standing behind the person, Dealing Damage together. Who could withstand that?

Even Han Ke could kill a Silver Armoured Spider with one swing of her ladle.

After figuring out the function of Jade Blessing, Tao Xiaoman was extremely envious and also wanted to be Lu Fan’s ‘test subject’. She wanted Xiao Cui to give her a Buff too, to experience the joy of instantly killing a Level 45 Monster.

Seeing her so eager, Lu Fan spent more time finding a Level 45 Mini Boss Sword Leg Ghost Spider for Tao Xiaoman to try.

To be safe, Lu Fan had Xiao Cui apply both Jade Shield and Jade Blessing Buffs to her, afraid that she might be instantly killed by the Level 45 Mini Boss if she was not careful.

The Sword Leg Ghost Spider was a Level above the Silver Armoured Spider, and it was not so easy to deal with.

However, with the Jade Dragon Qi from Jade Blessing, Tao Xiaoman still managed to kill this Mini Boss with just two sword strikes.

This made Tao Xiaoman exclaim with excitement, praising Xiao Cui’s Support Capabilities as absolutely amazing. With her around, even a dog on a leash could bite a Level 45 Monster to death!

After a pause, she realised that this statement seemed to be self-deprecating. As she tried to take it back, everyone had already burst into laughter.

After testing the power of Jade Blessing, everyone was satisfied and left the Dungeon Instance, taking the Transport Array back to the Dungeon Hall of Dragon Capital University.

Almost everyone had Levelled up on this trip, which could be considered a very fruitful harvest.

However, by this time, it was already dark, and everyone was both tired and hungry. They planned to return to the villa for a good rest.

Han Ke directly held onto Jian Ying, sincerely inviting her to return to the villa with them.

At this hour, going to the school cafeteria would mean eating leftover food. It would be better to go to Villa No. 1, where Han Ke could personally cook many delicious dishes.

Jian Ying hesitated for a moment, but finally, surprisingly, agreed.

Lu Fan noticed that after this Dungeon Instance run, Jian Ying’s attitude towards him and the others seemed to have changed. It was initially unfamiliar and distant to friendly. He inwardly smiled.

As the group was walking towards the villa area, Lu Fan approached Jian Ying and asked with a smile, “Did you enjoy clearing the Dungeon Instance with us today? In the future, we might go clear the Poison Spider Forest whenever we have time to Level up. Do you want to join us and form a regular team or something?”

Jian Ying glanced at Lu Fan and gave a response with a cold expression.
