Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 103, Can You One-Shot Them All With Great Cataclysm for Me?

Translator: Silavin

With these words, everyone’s spirits were immediately lifted. [The Final Boss is below the cliff?]

Lu Fan was the first to step forward to take a look. Just one glance made even Lu Fan raise his eyebrows.

The others also came forward to look, but Lu Fan stopped Han Ke, smiling bitterly as he said, “Auntie, I suggest you don’t look down. You’re not a Combat Specialised Profession, and you might not be able to handle some scenes you have not seen before.”

Han Ke knew that since even Tao Xiaoman, a Combat Specialised Profession, had such an expression, the scene below the cliff was probably not something she could accept. But after thinking for a moment, Han Ke still gritted her teeth and declared, “Even if I can’t accept it, I have to learn to. We’ve been in this Dungeon Instance for so long. Tao Zi has been protecting me the whole time. Apart from providing you with food, I have not contributed much. If I don’t dare to look at the scene below, I’ll have to wait here, and you’ll have to allocate a few people and focus some energy to protect me. Wouldn’t I be holding you back in that case?”

Han Ke added with self-deprecating humour, “Though I’m already holding you back, I should at least try my best to not cause you trouble, right? So, there’s nothing I can’t see. Just let me get used to it. That way, when we go in to kill the Final Boss, I’ll be able to continue being in this formation.”

Lu Fan thought for a moment and finally decided not to stop her.

Because Lu Fan actually wanted Han Ke to Level Up more. Even if she was a Lifestyle Specialised Profession, Levelling Up was not useless. Higher Levels meant Higher Attributes, Having Higher Attributes was never a bad thing.

If Han Ke did not experience more ‘harsh realities’, how could Lu Fan take her to Level Up and clear Dungeon Instances in the future if she does not improve? So, Lu Fan nodded and let Han Ke take a look down the cliff.

This glimpse almost knocked out Han Ke. However, Han Ke still managed to resist the urge to vomit and retain her gaze at the sight below the cliff.

Strictly speaking, this was not a cliff, but a depression similar to a volcano crater. Below, there was a slope that was not too steep, extending downward to form a depression about ten kilometres in diameter. It was neither too big nor too small.

Below, of course, was not a volcano crater. But the horror depicted was far worse than any volcano crater!

Among those present, except for Lu Fan and Jian Ying, everyone’s face changed colour, because the scene of this Dungeon Instance was indeed too much to bear.

The depression below was filled with black spider webs, each strand forming web as thick as a Human thigh. The enormous spider webs spread throughout the entire depression. One could imagine that once fallen in, it would be very difficult to climb out.

If it was just one spider web, it would have been fine. What truly made their blood run cold was the scene on the spider webs.

The spider webs were crawling with densely packed spiders. In the most crowded areas, dozens of spiders were clustered together like a ball of ants.

These spiders were of various species, including all the Silver Armoured Spiders, Black Web Hunters, Sword Leg Ghost Spiders, Poisonous Black Wolf Spiders, Savage Mountain Spiders, and others they had encountered before.

There were even some spiders that Lu Fan and the others had not seen before, presumably of Higher Levels and Attributes.

These spiders numbered in the tens of thousands, all gathered on the spider webs in the depression, creating a massive visual impact.

Anyone with even slight trypophobia would probably not be able to bear this sight.

Moreover, white spider eggs of various sizes could be seen on the spider webs, scattered chaotically throughout. Some spider eggs were piled together, intensifying the trypophobia.

If the Clear Time was very slow, these spider eggs might hatch into more Monsters, causing trouble for the Players.

Besides this, there were countless white bones on the spider webs, too numerous to count.

Lu Fan recalled the Dungeon Instance description in the Mission Panel. That a doctor well versed in poison had been captured by a Black Web Hunter in the Poison Spider Forest and dragged here.

[The scene here is certainly unforgettable…] Lu Fan’s gaze swept across the depression, and he quickly found the Final Boss Tao Xiaoman had mentioned.

In the centre of the spider web, a single spider could be seen that was extremely different from any other spider. Its size was definitely the largest among all the spiders, as tall as a five-story building.

It was completely black, but its back had some special purple glowing patterns forming what seemed to be the face of a ghost.

Lu Fan cast Appraisal Eye from afar and learned that this was indeed the Final Boss of the Dungeon Instance, Shrieking Broodmother.

As a Level 45 Terror Boss, its Attributes were not too high, but its Skills were something to be reckoned with.

Within the range of its spider web, its Movement Speed, Health Recovery, and Stamina Recovery increased.

It had another Skill that could apply Frenzy, giving all spiders around it bonuses to Movement Speed and Attack Speed.

As for Crowd Control Skills like Web Spray, it was a given. The Shrieking Broodmother’s Web Spray Skill was even an Area of Effect Crowd Control Skill. If someone attacked it while standing too close to their teammates, they might all be caught in its large web, and it would not be easy to break free.

There were also some other Skills, such as Poison Spray and Bite Absorption. Overall, this Boss’s individual combat ability was not strong. However, when considering the numerous small spiders below and its Skills working in tandem with these small spiders, defeating this Boss would be far from simple.

Jian Ying looked at the scene below for a long time, and then, unusually, took the initiative to say, “Seems like to kill this Boss, we need to clear all the Mobs first.”

Qin Qiu nodded, feeling that Jian Ying’s words made sense.

“I’ve never seen a Boss with so many guards before. And this Boss’s Skills are so annoying. Not to mention, just that Group Frenzy Skill alone can make all the small spiders have Frenzy. With so many Mobs rushing in at once, who could withstand it…”

Tao Xiaoman also spoke up. “Yeah, with so many Monsters, we’d be eaten to the bone if we go down there. This isn’t a Level 45 Dungeon Instance, even a Level 65 Dungeon Instance wouldn’t be this hard to clear…”

Lu Fan carefully recalled the Dungeon Instance information he had seen about the Poison Spider Forest, remembering that it included methods to clear the Dungeon Instance.

Lu Fan smiled and said to everyone, “I remember now. The information about this Dungeon Instance said that although the Experience Point Reward of this Dungeon Instance is high, it takes a very long time to clear. Some people might take three or four days to clear it. It seems like most of them face difficulty in clearing this portion. The guide says that to clear it, the currently recognised most effective method is to use those with Range Combat Professions to Aggro Pull the Mobs from a distance, and slowly clearing all the Mobs. When only the Final Boss is left, pay attention to positioning, and they would be able to defeat it without much difficulty. As long as the Mobs are cleared, killing the remaining Boss won’t be difficult. However, this process will take a lot of time because there are too many Mobs down there. With so many spider eggs constantly hatching new small spiders, if the clearing speed is slow, it might take four or five days to clear all the Mobs below. In the end, Players might have to give up and exit the Dungeon Instance to preserve their lives.”

Qin Qiu thought for a moment and felt that Lu Fan’s suggested method was reasonable.

She said, “Looking at it this way, clearing the Mobs first seems to be the only way to clear this Dungeon Instance. With Lu Fan and Jian Ying here, the Mobs below should be easy to one-shot.”

After a pause, she looked again at the small spiders densely crawling everywhere below and made a bitter smile, “Even so, with so many small spiders, it will still take us a long time to clear all of them. I estimate it will take at least two days to clear all the Mobs down there, right?”

When Han Ke heard this, she immediately checked her Inventory and said, “Does it need to take that long? I only brought a small portion of ingredients and dishes this time. It is only enough for us to eat two meals. If we need to busy ourselves with clearing Mobs for two whole days, we might not have enough food, and we’ll need to make more. But there aren’t many decent ingredients here… Are you willing to eat roasted spiders?”

Upon hearing this, everyone remembered the scene of those spiders bursting when hit, and they all felt their stomach churning.

Seeing everyone reject the idea, Han Ke quickly added, “You don’t need to make that face. With my Skills, I should be able to make the spiders taste as much like fried chicken as possible. If you don’t think about it, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference…”

Lu Fan quickly interrupted Han Ke by saying, “It’s okay, Auntie. We all know how amazing your cooking Skills are, but we’re really not interested in spiders.”

Han Ke helplessly said, “I don’t want to cook with these things either, but having something to eat is better than starving, right? Who knows, maybe cooking with the spiders here might enchant some useful Attributes?”

Lu Fan waved his hands repeatedly. [Jokes aside, even if eating these things would give me 100 points in Strength Attribute, I wouldn’t eat them!]

At this time, Jian Ying had already prepared herself and came to the edge of the depression, ready to use her Blood Breaking Sword to lure a few small spiders away to kill.

However, when Lu Fan saw this, he stopped her and said, “Jian Ying, you don’t need to lure them. Although the guide did say we should kill the Mobs first to clear the Dungeon Instance, we don’t need to go through all that trouble.”

“Then, do you have a better method?” Jian Ying looked at Lu Fan, puzzled.

Lu Fan smiled, reached out to pick up Xiao Ye from his shoulder. He patted Xiao Ye’s head and said, “Let’s use my Dragon.”

Xiao Ye had been slacking off the whole time. She had basically been clinging onto Lu Fan’s shoulder, and had almost fallen asleep.

Hearing Lu Fan wanted her to take action, she immediately became excited. She flapped her wings and chaotically flew around Lu Fan.

Jian Ying looked at this small creature, and actually had some doubts in her heart, [Could this small Dragon really deal with so many Monsters down there, as well as a Level 45 Terror Boss!?]

Although she knew Dragons were strong, Jian Ying really could not imagine what kind of power this little Dragon, which was about the size of a slightly big goose, could unleash.

Lu Fan did not notice Jian Ying’s doubtful gaze and directly brought Xiao Ye to the edge of the depression. He pointed down and asked, “Xiao Ye, can you one-shot them all with a Great Cataclysm?”

“Ang!” Xiao Ye raised her head proudly, even patting her little chest with her small claws like a Human, as if saying ‘Of course! No big deal!’
