Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 147, Finally Level 30, Second Profession Change!

Translator: Silavin

“That does make sense,” the Beautiful Senior Sister said, crossing her arms and biting her thumbnail. After thinking for a moment, she said, “Then set it to Level 70, don’t set it any higher. If I see your Open Ring Level Requirement is set to Level 80 or higher, I won’t come in ever again.”

“Alright…” Lu Fan agreed, fearing that the Beautiful Senior Sister might really get upset over this. However, he realised that from the Senior Sister’s tone, it seemed like even if he set it to Level 80, she would still be able to come in.

Seeing Lu Fan agree, the Beautiful Senior Sister stopped pretending to be angry and looked around the VIP Arena. As she walked slowly to the centre, she asked, “By the way, you’ve set the Minimum Level Requirement to Level 70, does that mean this Open Ring is specially set just for me?”

Lu Fan nodded and said, “You could say that. I’m directly keeping others out so that you can come in, Senior Sister.”

“You’re quite thoughtful.” She smiled, “Aren’t you afraid that I might not have time to come in today, and that all the University Points you’ve spent opening up this VIP Arena would be wasted?”

Lu Fan also walked to the centre of the arena and smiled, “If it’s wasted, it’s wasted. I don’t lack University Points right now.”

“Hehe,” the Beautiful Senior Sister’s eyes curved into crescents again, “You just got 18,000 University Points and you’re already so extravagant?”

Hearing this, Lu Fan immediately knew that the Senior Sister must have seen his sparring match with Jiang Fengyun earlier.

He asked excitedly, “Senior Sister, were you down there earlier?”

She nodded.

Lu Fan asked again, “Then how was my performance?”

She glanced at him and helplessly said, “You only made one move from start to finish, then let your Dragon knock everyone unconscious. How am I supposed to evaluate your performance? Still, you’ve managed to dodge Jiang Fengyun’s sword strike earlier and then your follow up counter attack was well executed. As expected of someone I had taught.”

Hearing the Beautiful Senior Sister’s approval, Lu Fan grinned. If it had been before, Lu Fan certainly would not have been able to dodge Jiang Fengyun’s sword that easily. As for the follow up counter attack, he believes he would not have been able to execute it.

After sparring with the Beautiful Senior Sister once, Lu Fan’s biggest gain was learning to use the simplest actions to respond to the opponent’s attacks, while counter attacking in the most effective way.

Like when Lu Fan took down Jiang Fengyun, it was just a simple dodge followed by a counter attack. All of which used the most simple and basic of movement. The fewer the movements, the easier it was for the counter attack to succeed, and the less likely one would expose their weaknesses.

This concept was something the Beautiful Senior Sister had been emphasising to Lu Fan.

Apart from close combat, such principles could also be applied to general battles. Therefore, combat techniques and combat experience could all be developed from this.

Although Lu Fan had learned close combat techniques from the Beautiful Senior Sister, he was smart enough to see the bigger picture, integrating the principles of these techniques into broader combat tactics.

It was because Lu Fan had understood these things that he had repeatedly earned praise from the Beautiful Senior Sister during their previous sparring session.

Seeing Lu Fan looking quite pleased with himself, the Beautiful Senior Sister did not forget to pour some cold water on him, saying, “Although you’ve made great progress, in terms of combat techniques, you still have a lot to learn.”

Lu Fan nodded in agreement and said, “Senior Sister is right, I still have many shortcomings in this area. So I’d like to thank Senior Sister in advance for being willing to guide me and let me properly learn from you.”

The Beautiful Senior Sister chuckled, “You little rascal, you’re really pushing it, aren’t you? When did I say I was going to guide you? You’re already thanking me?”

Lu Fan thought to himself, [Your mouth says no, but your body came, didn’t it?]

Of course, he could not say this directly. Otherwise, he might be taught a lesson during the sparring later.

So, Lu Fan said, “I feel like Senior Sister and I hit it off right away. Senior Sister is so kind, even giving me 100 University Points when you left the last time. You seem to treat me like your Little Brother. So, Senior Sister will definitely come often to guide me in combat techniques, right? If not, I can pay for the tuition fees.”

“You sure are a smooth talker. You still want to be my Little Brother? Bah!” The Senior Sister laughed and scolded, their relationship unknowingly becoming closer.

Lu Fan had learned many social techniques from Tao Xiaoman after being with her, which greatly improved his affinity with people. At least, the Beautiful Senior Sister’s relationship with him was much closer now.

After laughing and scolding, the Senior Sister reached out her hand and took out her Dragon Spear, saying. “Keep your tuition fees to yourself. I remember, one of the Sisters living with you seems to be an Enchanted Cook with decent culinary skills, right? Later, just bring me some snacks she makes. Right now, I don’t have much time, so I can’t idly chat with you. Let me see if you’ve digested what I taught you the last time, and see if you’ve made any progress.”

“Alright, no problem!” Lu Fan also became serious and took out his Black Dragon Scale Greatsword.

Seeing Lu Fan’s weapon, the Senior Sister pursed her lips and said, “Actually, I think you should change your weapon. You have a talent for the combat techniques I taught you, and your Strength Attribute is high. Greatswords have too low a ceiling in terms of techniques you can utilise. They’re mostly used by Knight Profession Change Players to directly increase damage. You should equip a spear or longsword instead. Those would suit you better. Their technique ceiling is higher, and secondly, you can deal high damage without needing the Attributes from a greatsword.”

Lu Fan looked at the Black Dragon Scale Greatsword in his hand and helplessly smiled, “I want to change weapons too, but this weapon is at least of Gold Grade. It’s not easy to find a better weapon.”

The Senior Sister rolled her eyes and said, “You now have over 30,000 University Points. If you spend a few days at the University’s auction house, you’ll definitely be able to exchange for a better weapon.”

Saying this, the Senior Sister waved her hand and said, “Forget it. You probably don’t have time to hang around the auction house. How about this, if you can force me to use Skills just with your combat techniques, I’ll give you a gift, how about that? If you want to change weapons, I’ll find a suitable weapon for you.”

Hearing this, Lu Fan’s eyes lit up. [Senior Sister is so generous! Last time, she gave me 100 University Points. This time, she wants to give me a weapon? Is she really treating me like her own Little Brother?]

[How shameless of me to keep trying to push my luck. Haha.] Lu Fan grinned and said, “Senior Sister, if you’re really giving me something, I’m not actually that interested in weapons.”

“Then what do you want?”

“I want a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll.”

“Go to Hell!” The Senior Sister immediately exploded.

For the next half of the afternoon, Lu Fan paid a heavy price for this half-joking, half-serious comment.

The Beautiful Senior Sister’s Level was too high, and her Four Attributes were far higher than Lu Fan’s. In terms of combat techniques, the Beautiful Senior Sister was undoubtedly a master, far surpassing Lu Fan. Under these circumstances, how could Lu Fan be a match for her?

From start to finish, Lu Fan was completely dominated.

Fortunately, his Endurance Attribute was very high, so he was not exactly beaten to a pulp.

After half an afternoon of training, Lu Fan was drenched in sweat and aching all over. In contrast, the Senior Sister had not rested much from start to finish, and did not even break a sweat.

Her Endurance Attribute was simply terrifying.

Finally, the Senior Sister left around 4 o’clock. Lu Fan digested the experience and lessons from today’s sparring session with the Senior Sister. He closed the VIP Arena and left, returning to the villa to rest.

As for the Wind Cloud Pavilion matter, Lu Fan did not care that much about it. Wind Cloud Pavilion meant even less to Lu Fan than Chen Tianzhi.

Lu Fan at least had some feelings of disappointment towards Chen Tianzhi, but for Wind Cloud Pavilion, Lu Fan felt nothing. He really just saw them as clowns.

If it was not for Wind Cloud Pavilion’s University Points, Lu Fan would not even bother to make the appointment and participate in the bet.

Although Lu Fan was nonchalant about this matter, Dragon Capital University did not see it that way.

After returning to Villa No. 1, Lu Fan learned from Tao Xiaoman and the others that he had become absolutely famous at Dragon Capital University. And not just a normal level of famous, but explosively famous.

Because today, he had summoned Xiao Ye, proving his Dragon Tamer title.

As for what breed of Dragon Xiao Ye was, no one knew, because Humans knew very little about the Dragon Race. Still, Xiao Ye’s appearance and might had made everyone realise that Lu Fan’s Pet Dragon was different from Chen Tianzhi’s Earth Dragon. They could at least tell Xiao Ye was definitely a Pure Blood Giant Dragon.

On the forum, many people had already posted videos of Lu Fan summoning Xiao Ye. It was not surprising that many people at the scene of Lu Fan’s battle with Jiang Fengyun had been filming with their phones, capturing the moment Xiao Ye was summoned.

Everyone could see that as the Summoning Array took shape, Xiao Ye walked out of the Array, and even changed her Form later, directly releasing a pressure that caused everyone present to faint.

The video content ended abruptly because all those filming got affected and fell unconscious, so naturally, no one could continue recording.

However, these videos were enough to witness the mighty power of a Giant Dragon.

Now, everyone knew that Lu Fan, as a Dragon Tamer, had an extremely powerful Pet Dragon that knocked out thousands of students, including Wind Cloud Pavilion, with just one Skill!

All of a sudden, no one questioned Lu Fan’s title of Freshmen King anymore. Some even claimed: ‘Forget about being the Freshmen King, with this Black Dragon, Lu Fan could be considered the King of Dragon Capital University.’

Lu Fan’s fan base in the University suddenly exploded, and even Xiao Ye gained a large number of fans. Every day, many people were trying to find his whereabouts, hoping to see Xiao Ye’s magnificence again.

Every day at the entrance of Villa No. 1, a crowd of people would gather, like those obsessive fans from Lu Fan’s previous world.

Lu Fan did not pay much attention to any of this though. With the National Trial approaching, he focused all his attention on two things.

First, to quickly Level Up and undergo his Second Profession Change, while also unlocking three Pet Slots.

Second, to further improve on his combat techniques and strive to gain that Senior Sister’s approval.

Every day, Lu Fan basically stopped attending classes and spent all his free time running Dungeon Instances with Jian Ying and the others.

When others were in class, he would go to the arena and open a VIP Arena. There, he would wait for the Senior Sister to come in.

Lu Fan’s overall Combat Power was rapidly rising under the constant hammering of the Senior Sister, while he was also striving to increase his Level.

Two weeks later, in the Poison Spider Forest, accompanied by the Shrieking Broodmother’s whimper in the roaring flames, a golden light flashed over Lu Fan’s body.

Finally, Lu Fan had reached Level 30 and could go to the University’s Profession Change Hall for his Second Profession Change!
