Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 143, I Want to Fight Your Entire Wind Cloud Pavilion

Translator: Silavin

Instantly, the crowd of onlookers made way, and Jiang Fengyun led more than thirty people from Wind Cloud Pavilion into the arena. It was just like how they came to participate in the freshmen exam finals before, they had quite the imposing presence.

Now, Wind Cloud Pavilion was at its peak among the freshmen at Dragon Capital University. These thirty-plus people were all top Players amongst the freshmen, with Jiang Fengyun as their leader. In their daily lives, they could almost walk sideways with arrogance.

At this moment, arriving here under the gaze of so many people and becoming the focus of attention, these people seem even more unapproachable. Their faces clearly showing they were not to be trifled with.

After arriving at Arena No. 15, all the members of Wind Cloud Pavilion formed a circle around the arena, with only Jiang Fengyun and Xu Jing stepping onto the stage.

Although the other members of Wind Cloud Pavilion did not go up, they formed a circle around the stage, looking entirely ready to fight. Who would not feel the immense pressure of going up to spar with Jiang Fengyun at this point?

This made the surrounding spectators somewhat dissatisfied, feeling that Jiang Fengyun was clearly using Wind Cloud Pavilion to pressure Lu Fan.

However, due to the fact that the people of Wind Cloud Pavilion were all top Players, even the Senior Students from higher grades only discussed this privately. No one dared to be the first to bring up this issue.

Jiang Fengyun and Xu Jing stood shoulder to shoulder, waiting for Lu Fan’s arrival.

Other spectators were the same, wondering in their hearts whether Lu Fan would bring his teammates to boost his morale. Otherwise, he might be at a disadvantage in terms of momentum before even stepping onto the stage.

Being at a disadvantage before the battle begins was a major taboo.

After a short while, sure enough, there was another commotion outside the arena. Someone exclaimed that Lu Fan had arrived on time to keep to the appointment. That he had not avoided the battle.

Immediately, everyone became excited, looking towards the entrance of the arena to see if Lu Fan’s momentum would also be like Jiang Fengyun. Would he striding in like a Dragon, followed by powerful teammates?

The result of what they saw caused an uproar among everyone.

Because Lu Fan strolled in leisurely through the path cleared by the crowd; not only without any teammates following behind, but he was also holding a piece of fried rice cake in his hand. In fact, he had only just finished eating as he entered the door.

He did not look like he was coming to spar with Jiang Fengyun, Rather, like he was out for a casual stroll.

Lu Fan had not expected that so many people would come for his sparring match with Jiang Fengyun. Seeing so many people watching him, he felt a bit embarrassed and quickly took out a tissue to wipe the oil from his hands and mouth, smiling apologetically to the crowd.

Instantly, the atmosphere at the scene obviously cooled down.

Lu Fan’s entrance was not quite what everyone had expected…

In fact, Lu Fan was also at a loss. Yesterday, he had casually agreed on a time with Jiang Fengyun without much thought. As a result, his Auntie still had classes this morning and did not return to Villa No. 1 until it was almost noon.

In Villa No. 1, Lu Fan and the others were starving, all with empty stomachs. There was not enough time to cook a meal, and Lu Fan did not want to be late after agreeing on a time with someone. So, he took two pieces of freshly fried rice cakes that Han Ke had made for him and rushed here, eating them along the way. That was how he had just managed to arrive on time.

It was just that his entrance was a bit too casual.

Lu Fan threw the tissue into the trash can and, under the helpless gazes of many people, slowly walked to the arena. After pushing aside one of the Wind Cloud Pavilion members, he jumped onto the stage.

“You…” Jiang Fengyun’s facial muscles twitched, “Your entrance is quite something.”

Lu Fan chuckled and said. “Well, the meal was cooked too late, and I haven’t eaten yet, so I could only grab a quick bite along the way.”

“Anyway, I’m not late, am I?” As he spoke, Lu Fan looked at the clock on the wall, which showed exactly 12 o’clock. “En, not late. I’m just in time. Shall we start the sparring match now? I have other things to do later, I don’t really want to waste too much time on you.”

Lu Fan’s words were actually all true, without any other meaning to them.

However, in the ears of Jiang Fengyun, Xu Jing, and the other members of Wind Cloud Pavilion, it had a different meaning: ‘First, I have the strength to fight you even without eating. Second, I won’t need much time to deal with you.’

A member from Wind Cloud Pavilion closest to Lu Fan seemed to have gotten enraged. After Lu Fan finished speaking, he almost rushed forward. Thankfully, he stopped himself but he could not help but curse, “You’re so damn arrogant! How dare you talk to Brother Jiang like that! Do you believe that without Brother Jiang taking action, I could go up and deal with you myself!?”

Lu Fan naturally heard this, but he did not get angry. Instead, he scratched his head and said, “Huh? Was I speaking arrogantly just now?”

Jiang Fengyun’s expression also gradually became unpleasant. In his view, from the moment Lu Fan arrived until now, he had completely disregarded him, which made him disgruntled.

Jiang Fengyun lost his patience and could not be bothered to talk nonsense with Lu Fan anymore. Who would be the Freshmen King, who could laugh at the end, who had the right to be arrogant, they would know after the fight!

“Fine, I’m too lazy to waste words with you. With so many people watching, let’s not waste time. I believe everyone has been looking forward to our battle for a long time. So, let’s start. Where are your teammates? Tell Jian Ying to come up, don’t hide.”

Lu Fan smiled and spread his hands, saying, “Jian Ying? Jian Ying isn’t coming today. Didn’t I say it already? My meal was cooked late. In fact, mine was prepared earlier so that I could make it in time. Right now, at home, the meal should have just been cooked. Jian Ying should be eating right now.”

Jiang Fengyun raised an eyebrow, his anger almost uncontrollable. “She’s eating!? Are you joking with me!? Didn’t we agree to come and have a match at 12 o’clock!? Are you two playing tricks on me!? Playing tricks on everyone here!?”

Many people at the scene also started to discuss, fearing that Lu Fan might pull some other stunt and continue to delay using Jian Ying as an excuse, preventing today’s sparring match from taking place.

However, everyone’s worry was unnecessary.

Lu Fan smiled and said. “Look. I agreed to come and spar at 12, and I came on time, didn’t I? Oh, I understand now, you thought today’s sparring between us was a 2V2? I think you did not read my post correctly. Today, I alone will be fighting, Jian Ying won’t be participating.”

Jiang Fengyun’s heart sank, and his expression became even more unpleasant. “Just you!?”

“Yeah. Just me.” Lu Fan nodded.

Jiang Fengyun immediately fell silent, instinctively looking at Xu Jing beside him.

Originally, he was confident that as long as Xu Jing could seal Lu Fan and Jian Ying’s Skills, winning the sparring match would not be a problem. However, if it was a 1v1… imagining Lu Fan’s Dragon Language Magic, Jiang Fengyun still felt apprehensive.

Only with Xu Jing present did Jiang Fengyun dare say he was confident in defeating Lu Fan. He never imagined that Lu Fan would come alone to face the challenge. This immediately disrupted Jiang Fengyun’s plans.

Seeming to notice that Jiang Fengyun was a bit timid, Lu Fan realised they had misunderstood again. He quickly explained. “Wait. Don’t worry too much. I didn’t say I wanted to fight you in a 1v1. I know you rely heavily on the Mage Silencer beside you to restrict your opponent, and without him, you probably don’t feel very confident. So, don’t treat this sparring match as some kind of exam. We don’t have any rule here that says it has to be 2v2 or 1v1.”

Hearing these words, Jiang Fengyun relaxed a little, but at the same time, the fire in his heart grew even stronger. He loudly questioned: “You mean to say, you want to fight the two of us alone!?”

Lu Fan shook his head and he pointed at all the Wind Cloud Pavilion members around him. “Of course not. I want to fight against your entire Wind Cloud Pavilion at once!”

*Siiiii*

The sound of people drawing in sharp breaths was heard all around.

They could not help but think Lu Fan was being too arrogant!

It was one thing to come alone for the battle, but he was not just challenging Jiang Fengyun and Xu Jing as a pair, but the entire Wind Cloud Pavilion!?

Wind Cloud Pavilion had over thirty members, and apart from the four top ranked freshmen, the rest were all students ranked in the top hundred at the very least. If they were too weak, they definitely would not have the qualifications to enter Wind Cloud Pavilion.

Lu Fan had simultaneously challenged the entire Wind Cloud Pavilion, if he was not crazy then what was!? Even five Chen Tianzhis would not dare say such a thing.

Lu Fan’s shocking words directly silenced Jiang Fengyun. He never imagined that when Lu Fan said he wanted to challenge all of Wind Cloud Pavilion, he was not bluffing. He really intended to do so!

After a long while, Jiang Fengyun finally came to his senses. He knew that if he really led all of Wind Cloud Pavilion to gang up on Lu Fan, even if they won, it would not be a glorious victory.

He took a deep breath, suppressing his dissatisfaction and said. “Lu Fan, your mouth is more impressive than your actual abilities. I can’t be bothered to waste more words with you. Whether it’s just you alone today, or you and Jian Ying together, I can responsibly tell you that it’s your business. Xu Jing and I are the champions of the freshmen exam, so no matter how many of you there are, we will fight together.”

Jiang Fengyun was quite clever, the main point was in one sentence: ‘no matter how many of you there are, we will fight together’. He was suggesting that no matter how many people Lu Fan brings, they would only use two people. Saying it this way, it would make it seem like he was not taking advantage of Lu Fan in this sparring match.

However, in reality, Lu Fan had already said he was coming alone, so Jiang Fengyun was just perfectly packaging a 2v1, legitimately taking advantage of his numbers.

His words made Lu Fan somewhat dissatisfied. It was not that he was dissatisfied with Jiang Fengyun bringing more people, but that he was dissatisfied with him bringing too few!

In Lu Fan’s heart, he wanted to get all the University Points from all the members of Wind Cloud Pavilion! Lu Fan did not want to waste words either and directly laid his cards out on the table. “We’ve agreed beforehand, I want to challenge the entire Wind Cloud Pavilion, betting all of our University Points! It was clearly stated in the post that the winner takes all the opponent’s University Points. Or, do the points from the both of you worth me betting all of mine?”

As he spoke, Lu Fan took out his identity card and displayed his University Points publicly for everyone to see.

Instantly, the number ‘17,642’ left everyone dumbfounded, their jaws almost hitting the floor.

He had nearly twenty thousand University Points! He was simply outrageously rich!
