God's Imitator

He Xiaojun felt somewhat defeated, because according to the ideal situation, if the five cards a player earned happened to be five different body parts, then there would be no need to make any exchanges with other players.

But if duplicates appeared, they would have to be listed for sale on the auction terminal.

The problem was that the ‘Auction Tycoon’ room had a 100% transaction tax!

When this game produced cards, it would determine the card’s attribution based on ”the room where the player obtained earnings in multiples of ten thousand” and automatically apply the corresponding room’s transaction tax.

Both of He Xiaojun’s cards were considered to have been produced in the ‘Auction Tycoon’ room, so they would both be subject to the default 100% transaction tax.

No matter how much he listed them for, whether the currency received was visa time or chips, the money would be taken by the God’s Imitator who designed this game, and he himself wouldn’t get anything at all.

This was why this room had always been unpopular.

He Xiaojun had actually known this before, but he had harbored some wishful thinking, believing that surely the first two Death Immunity Cards wouldn’t happen to be duplicates, right?

But now, luck didn’t seem to be on his side.

”What should I do? I must think of another way to sell one of these cards...”’Equipment Forging’?

”Or should I sell it through the auction house in the ’Auction Tycoon’ room?”

...

Fortunately, there was still time in the game. He Xiaojun continued playing, re-purchasing items in ‘Auction Tycoon’ and then listing them for auction to obtain stable profits, while thinking of countermeasures.

At this point, he had roughly determined the situation with this game.

The method for earning stable profits in ‘Auction Tycoon’ wasn’t buried very deep, it just required a relatively large time investment, and combined with the very discouraging 100% transaction tax, many players hadn’t discovered it.

In reality, the auction house in this game room would regularly refresh certain items. Players only needed to buy these items and then relist them, and after a period of time, the system would buy them all back.

Additionally, if a player stayed by the game station in ‘Auction Tycoon’ and watched, they would receive additional profits based on time, but if they didn’t watch, there would still be a basic guaranteed profit.

Therefore, after realizing this, He Xiaojun could choose to ensure that items he had purchased were always listed in the auction house earning profits, while he himself could break away to do other things.

Of course, due to the limited game time, He Xiaojun hadn’t been able to fully research the specific details of the system’s buyback rules.

He would have to study it slowly later.

After listing new items, He Xiaojun first returned to the game hall to make a final attempt.

He still had a bit of wishful thinking, what if the first card was considered to have been produced in ‘Compare Sizes’?

But the information on the auction terminal mercilessly shattered his fantasy.

After placing an item on the auction terminal but before setting the price, players could see the corresponding information.

Both of these Death Immunity Cards required a 100% transaction tax.

He Xiaojun also looked at the product list on the auction terminal. The items on it had clearly increased significantly.

Not only were there Death Immunity Cards, but also chips from various rooms, with prices listed in all sorts of ways.

There were already 6 Death Immunity Cards listed, but 5 of them were traded using visa time, with the highest price still at 20,000, while others ranged from 18,000 to 15,000.

But even at a price of 15,000, there were still no buyers at present.

Clearly, both sellers and buyers were waiting.

Buyers believed that as time passed, players would produce more and more Death Immunity Cards, and perhaps they wouldn’t need to trade at all to gather five different body parts. Moreover, when more cards were produced, someone would surely sell at a low price to cash out.

Sellers believed that as time passed, those players who had gathered four cards and were only missing one would definitely be willing to pay big money to purchase it.

So the two sides were currently having difficulty reaching transactions.

Besides this, there was also one Death Immunity Card being traded using ”Room 6: Equipment Forging,” asking for 10,000 points of chips from this room.

He Xiaojun was somewhat surprised. ”What does this mean? Are chips from this room also very valuable?”

He looked at the situation in the ‘Equipment Forging’ room. There were currently about six players playing inside, so he could determine that the person who listed this item was most likely one of those players.

He Xiaojun was a bit tempted, but he clearly didn’t have that many chips on hand.

He searched for other items and sure enough found chip products from ‘Equipment Forging.’

There were several entries for 1,000 points of chips, with different amounts of visa time listed, but basically all around 1,500, some at 1,499 and others at 1,501.

He Xiaojun felt very puzzled. ”That’s exaggerated! Do these people think that chips from this room are more valuable than visa time?

”But that doesn’t make sense. Players can completely exchange chips at a 1:1 ratio at the chip exchange counter. There’s no way chips could be more valuable than visa time, right?”

Clearly, these chips listed on the auction terminal most likely had other uses.

After considering, He Xiaojun decided to first go check out the ‘Equipment Forging’ room.

Because there were currently no Death Immunity Cards listed in the auction house within ‘Auction Tycoon,’ and they could only be traded using the room’s chips.

Even if he listed this duplicate card, there wasn’t necessarily anyone who would buy it, and he also wasn’t sure how many chips would be an appropriate listing price.

In comparison, directly consuming a small amount of chips in ‘Equipment Forging’ to convert the card into another one was a more cost-effective choice.

Of course, He Xiaojun hadn’t actually tried using a Death Immunity Card yet and wasn’t sure if conversion was really possible, but since the rules of this room had been approved by the Gallery, then it was most likely possible.

Besides this, the situation with items on the auction terminal also aroused He Xiaojun’s curiosity.

Someone had listed a Death Immunity Card for auction at a price of 10,000 ‘Equipment Forging’ chips, and others had listed chips from this room at a ratio higher than 1:1. All of this seemed to hint at one thing, that chips from this room were also very valuable.

He Xiaojun also wanted to go see what the specific situation was.

He came to the entrance of the ‘Equipment Forging’ room, while also noticing that many other players were converging here as well.

These players also seemed to be holding Death Immunity Cards, most likely having also encountered duplicate situations.

After all, the previous dividend distribution had been quite generous.

At this time, four game stations in the room had fixed players continuously playing games, while the remaining two game stations intermittently had players from other rooms using them.

These players were clearly in a similar situation to He Xiaojun. They apparently hadn’t played much in this room before and were all first practicing with Training Cards, only daring to put up Death Immunity Cards for forging after becoming proficient.

Seeing this situation, He Xiaojun couldn’t help but fall into thought.

”I came to this room because my Death Immunity Cards have a 100% transaction tax, so listing them on the auction terminal would have no profit at all.

”If cards were produced in other rooms, the transaction tax shouldn’t be too high, right? Why are they also coming to this room?

”I understand now. It’s because the transaction tax in most rooms should be 30% or even higher, including those rooms that don’t display transaction taxes. Otherwise, the God’s Imitator wouldn’t be able to earn enough profits at all.

”But for players, these transaction taxes are still not cost-effective compared to the chip consumption in the ’Equipment Forging’ room.”

After He Xiaojun waited for a while, the player ahead left, and he quickly went to one of the game stations.
