God's Imitator

Lin Sizhi and Xu Zhao went to the ‘Chess Endgame’ room, playing the chess endgame while chatting.

Clearly, for this cooperation, both sides were getting what they needed.

What Lin Sizhi wanted was detailed intelligence about Community 15.

Although Xu Zhao’s status in the community was far below Wang Weidong’s, he was still one of the core members. He necessarily held the most authentic political structure of the entire community as well as hidden details that fringe figures didn’t know.

Besides this, Lin Sizhi was also trying to turn Xu Zhao into a nail planted in Community 15 through this opportunity.

If this cooperation could be successfully achieved, then next time, the two sides might have another opportunity to cooperate.

For Xu Zhao, the conditions Lin Sizhi provided were also urgently needed by him.

First, Lin Sizhi held a large amount of ‘Auction Tycoon’ room chips and visa time. He absolutely didn’t worry about his profits ranking at the bottom, so he was willing to help Xu Zhao farm game counts in ‘Chess Endgame.’

Most players in this hall were unwilling to do this.

Second, after Xu Zhao sold out Community 15’s intelligence, he could also get some benefits.Lin Sizhi would help him analyze this intelligence and give him a clear strategy for seizing power within Community 15.

If the strategy was given by someone else, Xu Zhao wouldn’t care. After all, the situation within the community changed rapidly. Ordinary players didn’t have a sufficiently powerful political mind, and the strategies they gave were basically meaningless.

But a strategy given by someone as clever as Lin Sizhi was another matter entirely.

Actually, Xu Zhao didn’t completely trust Wang Weidong either, but in Community 15, he had no other choice.

Although after Simple Q& A, Wang Weidong’s position in the community had been shaken somewhat, he was still the only leader everyone could trust and couldn’t possibly be replaced in the short term.

But if he could find such an opportunity with external help, Xu Zhao naturally wouldn’t refuse.

It was simply a matter of being originally constrained by Wang Weidong and now being constrained by Lin Sizhi.

As for how long this kind of cross-community cooperation between the two could last? No one dared guarantee that.

After all, with bad luck, it was very possible that the two would never see each other again in subsequent games.

But it was precisely because of this that Xu Zhao didn’t have much psychological burden.

After all, there were no other players from Community 15 in this hall. Xu Zhao’s actions wouldn’t be known by players from the same community, nor would there be very clear consequences for the time being.

...

Cheng Wen looked from afar at Lin Sizhi and Xu Zhao in ‘Chess Endgame,’ increasingly sighing at the gap between players.

For most players, in this game, just thinking about gathering five cards and earning enough profits already required giving it their all.

But Lin Sizhi actually still had the energy to do some other things.

However, judging from the current situation in the entire hall, things had indeed been settled.

The final dividend distribution.

Lin Sizhi first exchanged for the final dividends of ‘Chess Endgame’ together with Xu Zhao, then came to ‘Auction Tycoon’ and exchanged all the remaining chips in hand for dividends.

On the other side, Chen Guangming also exchanged dividends at the entrance of ‘Equipment Forging.’

In this hall, almost all players had gathered Death Immunity Cards. The very few remaining people should have at least gathered four cards.

Clearly, this was related to the specific game room distribution in the game hall.

In this game hall, there were two relatively Special Games, ‘Equipment Forging’ and ‘Auction Tycoon.’ The God’s Imitators who designed them both provided sufficient concessions and offered additional means to convert cards, which was equivalent to greatly reducing the difficulty.

From this perspective, the players assigned to this hall were lucky.

All game stations in all game rooms became locked and could no longer continue playing.

Then, the final notification appeared on the large screen.

[Settlement will now be conducted.]

[All players will suffer one instant death penalty.]

The players were all somewhat nervous. Some people instinctively clutched Death Immunity Cards in their hands, their knuckles turning slightly white.

With a ”snap,” all the Death Immunity Cards in the players’ hands shattered.

No one died in this game hall.

Many players breathed a sigh of relief, but they also knew this wasn’t the end.

[The number of dead players is insufficient at 30%. Players who earned less visa time from the game will be selected to make up 30%, with one additional instant death penalty applied.]

Immunity cards could only negate one instant death penalty, so at this point players had no other means.

Of course, if they held immunity vouchers, they could negate one additional time.

But most players didn’t have them.

”Thud,” ”thud.”

In the crowd, four players successively collapsed silently.

Among them were two from the original eight players who had occupied single-player mode in ‘Compare Sizes’ and ‘Simple Poker.’

At the beginning of the game, they had mistakenly believed they already had a huge lead, so even at death they still stared wide-eyed, their expressions filled with disbelief.

Nearby players silently moved further away. No one spoke.

Because they were all players from other communities, most players showed an indifferent attitude.

Of course, even if they were players from the same community, they wouldn’t necessarily have any extreme reactions. After all, since entering the New World up to now, players had already witnessed too many similar situations.

Although they didn’t know the specific situations in other halls, since this hall’s death rate was only 20%, there would necessarily be halls with death rates greater than 30%.

The players who confirmed their survival all breathed a sigh of relief, instantly feeling unburdened.

For them, although they had all brought back visa time profits from the game, none of that mattered anymore.

As long as they were alive, that was enough.

But the information on the large screen continued displaying.

[God’s Imitators whose designed game rooms failed to achieve profit targets will suffer one instant death penalty.]

With another ”thud,” another player collapsed.

This time, some commotion appeared among the player group.

Clearly, some players didn’t know that God’s Imitators in this game also had to bear death risks, nor did they expect that God’s Imitators were actually right beside them.

So when seeing a God’s Imitator’s death case, they were still somewhat shocked.

Xu Zhao’s face was deathly pale, his heart pounding.

He was still alive, but the danger hadn’t been lifted, because if the number of dead God’s Imitators hadn’t reached 20%, they would still eliminate the bottom God’s Imitators by profit ranking to make up 20%.

If that happened, he felt he would certainly die.

Fortunately, the next piece of information on the large screen let him breathe a sigh of relief.

[The number of dead God’s Imitators has reached 20%. No additional instant death penalties will be applied.]

[All players may bring back the profits obtained in this game to their communities.]

Xu Zhao looked at Chen Guangming, then looked at Lin Sizhi.

This game had truly been too dangerous for him. From obtaining the God’s Imitator identity to the strategy within the game, he had hovered on the edge of death several times.

He had almost become another cold corpse in the hall.

Chen Guangming was also looking at Lin Sizhi. In this game, although the two had actually controlled the situation in the entire game hall, they hadn’t had a direct confrontation.

Nor did there exist any possibility of killing the other or drastically reducing the other’s profits.

After all, this game’s mechanism didn’t support doing that.

But both sides were well aware that in future games, they would inevitably encounter each other again.

In wordless silence, the players who had survived the disaster each returned to their communities.

[Game over.]
