God's Imitator

The next second, Lin Sizhi realized he had returned to the community.

”Yinzhang, thank you! You’ve really helped tremendously, you saved my life!”

As soon as Qin Yao returned to the hall, she immediately hugged Wei Yinzhang to express her gratitude.

At the same time, Dai Yifan also immediately searched through the crowd and found Zheng Jie. ”Doctor Zheng, please help me bandage this...”

He had several wounds on his body that were seeping blood, but clearly he had already torn off pieces of cloth from his clothes in the game for simple bandaging. It wasn’t a major problem, just looked somewhat frightening.

”There were games that could cause injuries in this game? Come with me quickly.”

Zheng Jie hurriedly took him aside and got out the medical kit to bandage him.

Fu Chen, as usual, began counting people.

”One, two... ten, eleven...

”One person is missing...”Xu Tong? Where’s Xu Tong!”

There was some panic in Fu Chen’s voice. Only then did everyone realize that the community had once again suffered casualties. Xu Tong had not been able to return from the game.

There was another shattered bracelet on the ground.

Yang Yuting picked up the bracelet with shock, her face full of disbelief.

She had difficulty accepting this reality for a moment.

The others also fell silent.

Although before entering the game, everyone knew this game would be quite brutal and would forcibly eliminate at least 30% of players, and many had mentally prepared for possible casualties within the community.

But when it actually happened, it was still hard to accept.

Li Renshu’s expression was also somewhat heavy. She had originally been more worried about the weaker players like Qin Yao, Zheng Jie, Dai Yifan, and Zhou Guifen, but unexpectedly all four of them had returned safely. Instead, it was Xu Tong, who had performed reasonably well in previous games, who had met with an accident.

Everyone looked at the large screen in silence.

Li Renshu looked at everyone. ”Everyone has worked hard. Rest for a bit. We’ll start the game review this afternoon.”

Wei Yinzhang considered for a moment and said, ”I propose using some visa time from the community funds to purchase Xu Tong’s game archive.”

Li Renshu nodded. ”Yes, definitely.”

...

In the afternoon, after the 11 players rested, they each took seats around the long table.

Yang Yuting’s eyes were still somewhat red-rimmed, but she appeared to have calmed down emotionally.

Dai Yifan’s wounds had all been bandaged, and he had returned to his room to change clothes. With his physical constitution, these injuries weren’t a major problem.

On the large screen, the list of game rooms from this session had also been pulled up.

Unlike previous games, ’Self-Selected Game’ was composed of 24 different game rooms, so the Gallery hadn’t given this game a corresponding rating.

The rules of the 24 game rooms were all different, and they couldn’t all be displayed on the large screen, so only the list could be shown.

If players wanted to understand the specific game rules of a certain room, they could select it from the list and view the details.

Li Renshu looked at the information on the large screen, momentarily unsure where the review should begin.

Because each player was in a different hall, this was equivalent to 12 completely different games.

After thinking for a moment, she looked at Wei Yinzhang and Qin Yao. ”Yinzhang, why don’t you start by speaking from your own perspective?

”You successfully gave advice that helped Qin Yao, and as a God’s Imitator, you should have already looked at the rules of all the game rooms in the hall. Compared to us players who were in the middle of it, you might have a higher perspective.”

Wei Yinzhang nodded. ”Alright, let me briefly explain the reasoning behind the advice I gave.

”After you entered the game, the community’s large screen also synchronized with the game rules.

”This included the detailed rules of the 24 game rooms.

”I could see which specific games were in a certain hall, and I could also see which hall each player from our community was assigned to.

”But I couldn’t see the roster of players from other communities, nor could I determine the specific progress in the halls.

”So after considering, I could only roughly determine the danger level of each hall based on the specific room rules, and comprehensively consider ’danger level’ and ’player strength’ to give advice.

”The hall Qin Yao was in was the most dangerous type, and it happened to have a game room I designed, so I could give very definite advice. That’s why I made this choice relatively early.

”But for the other halls, I was powerless, because I couldn’t see the specific game situations.”

Li Renshu nodded. ”Being able to save one player is already very good.

”The ’Identity Card’ has maximized its value.”

Qin Yao still looked somewhat shaken. Clearly, this game had indeed been very dangerous for her.

But she was also somewhat curious. ”Are there obvious differences in danger levels between game halls? How could you tell?”

Wei Yinzhang nodded and explained, ”Of course there are.

”Because in each hall, there are 6 different game rooms, and the rules of these game rooms differ.

”Whether there are methods for stable profits, whether there are additional concessions, whether there are special hidden rules...

”These factors all determine the difficulty of the game rooms.

”After the 6 game rooms are randomly combined, they create chain reactions with each other, thereby determining the difficulty and danger level of the entire game hall.

”If the games in a certain hall basically don’t offer much in the way of concessions, have no methods for stable profits, and don’t have additional card conversion or trading mechanisms...

”Then it will cause the game difficulty in the entire hall to sharply increase. The competition between players will become unprecedentedly fierce.

”In such rooms, it’s very likely that a large number of players won’t be able to gather Death Immunity Cards or will rank at the bottom in profits.

”Ultimately, there might even be extreme situations where more than half the players die.”

Everyone nodded.

They could all guess this kind of situation.

There were 20 players in each hall. If calculated at 30%, about 6 should die.

But if the death count in some game halls was less than 6, that meant other halls necessarily had significantly more than 6 deaths.

Wei Yinzhang continued, ”Actually, the focus of this game, rather than being a contest between players, was more like a contest between God’s Imitators.

”Because under the specific rule framework, the space for players to operate was actually not very large.

”Whether players could find the optimal solution for a certain game hall largely depended on whether the corresponding God’s Imitators of those rooms had provided the appropriate rule framework.”
