God's Imitator

Evening.

Li Renshu sat on an outdoor single-seat sofa, looking at the pitch-black sky, not knowing what she was thinking about.

Wang Yongxin sat down in the seat beside her.

”Brother Wang? Is something the matter?”

After considering for a moment, Wang Yongxin said, ”There is indeed something. It’s not a major matter, but it is somewhat important.

”I want to ask for your opinion first.”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Mm.”

Wang Yongxin sighed quietly, ”Xu Tong had at least 200,000 minutes of visa time on her.”

Li Renshu didn’t speak for the moment, but obviously, she had known this all along.

After the ’Shelter Game’ ended, the players in the community had checked their time once.Xu Tong’s visa time was 210,000 minutes, which was considered among the higher amounts in the entire community.

She had once teamed up with Wang Yongxin in ’Conglomerate Nation,’ and had also obtained an extra 80,000-plus minutes of visa time in ’Finance Sources Game’ thanks to Su Xiucen.

During several donation drives, Xu Tong hadn’t donated too much visa time either.

After all, in most players’ eyes, she wasn’t considered a strong player, and she hadn’t enjoyed any special privileges within the community, so whether to donate or not was entirely voluntary.

But now the problem was this: the visa time Xu Tong carried didn’t help her gain any advantage in ’Self-Selected Game.’ She could still only use 20,000 of it.

And with her death in the game, all that visa time naturally vanished without a trace.

Li Renshu asked, ”Which God’s Imitator do you think will earn this portion of visa time?”

Wang Yongxin shook his head, ”Not clear. It’s also possible that all the visa time from dead players is pooled together and divided equally among all surviving God’s Imitators.

”This depends on the Gallery’s specific rules.

”For us players, dwelling on this point doesn’t have much significance.”

Li Renshu sighed, ”Yes.”

She naturally knew what Wang Yongxin was thinking: whether through suggestion or compulsion, push a motion as much as possible to have everyone deposit their excess visa time into the luxury goods fund.

To avoid another situation like Xu Tong’s.

If Xu Tong had previously followed Wang Yongxin’s suggestion and deposited 150,000 minutes of visa time, keeping only 50,000 for herself, then those 150,000 minutes could at least remain within the community, shared by other community members.

This was not a small amount.

Actually, quite a few players had originally anticipated that such a situation might occur.

Before ’Self-Selected Game’ officially began, there was actually sufficient time to persuade or compel most players to deposit their excess visa time into the luxury goods fund.

But Li Renshu and Wang Yongxin ultimately chose to do nothing.

Because that would give other players a strong sense of ’forced donation.’ Regardless of whether the motion was pushed through, it would make people feel this was taking advantage of their peril, and could very likely produce the opposite effect.

Even if they were acting with good intentions, it wouldn’t work.

Only when an actual case of ’someone dying in a game with large amounts of visa time, causing losses to the community’ appeared would there be an appropriate opportunity.

Now, that opportunity had appeared.

But how exactly to push forward still required careful consideration.

Wang Yongxin said, ”If we only consider the simplest approach, then at the next group discussion, briefly mention the necessity of this matter, then continue to encourage everyone to donate, without making it mandatory.”

Li Renshu didn’t speak.

This was indeed the simplest method, but also a meaningless one.

Because for ordinary players, if I don’t die, then this visa time stays with me all along, and of course it’s more worthwhile not to hand it over to the community. But if I die, why would I still care about where this visa time goes?

Those willing to donate will donate without persuasion. Those unwilling to donate most likely still won’t donate.

At the current state, mere verbal advocacy wouldn’t have much significance. If they wanted to achieve this goal, they had to use more coercive methods.

To put it bluntly, it was still forced donation. It was just that Xu Tong’s death provided an opportunity and excuse for a new round of forced donations.

Moreover, this was also a very brief window of opportunity.

If they failed to seize this window and push through a motion that made everyone actively donate, then a week later, or after the next game ended, proposing such a motion might not pass.

Many things can only achieve the best results when done at the most appropriate timing.

Li Renshu frowned tightly and sighed, ”But I temporarily can’t think of a particularly good method.

”No matter how we change the wording, it only looks better on the surface. It can’t actually change the nature of the motion.”

Wang Yongxin clearly already had an idea. After a moment of silence, he said, ”I do have an idea, but whether it’s feasible, you’ll ultimately make the decision.”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Mm, go ahead.”

Wang Yongxin organized his thoughts a bit, then said, ”This could also be considered a bit of inspiration I gained from this game.

”The reason everyone is currently unwilling to deposit visa time into the luxury goods fund fundamentally boils down to one problem: for most ordinary players, this matter only has disadvantages and no advantages.

”If they deposit visa time, it might be used by the entire community to purchase survival tickets or special items like identity cards, but these items might not necessarily be used on them.

”Players like me might deposit visa time for the sake of having a voice in decisions, but the power within the community is very limited. Even if other players deposit, it’s difficult for them to gain any power.

”At the end of the day, visa time as a currency is too hard. It’s not only linked to prices but also to each player’s life.

”So after thinking it over, pure compulsion definitely won’t work.

”Even if we adopt a half-voluntary, half-compulsory approach, we still have to make players feel that depositing money is profitable.

”Even if this profitability is just a false illusion.”

Li Renshu thought about it, ”I understand the reasoning, but the problem is that visa time is different from currency in reality.

”There are actually two types of currency in ’Self-Selected Game.’ One is chips, the other is visa time.

”If we correspond this to reality, we can compare them to paper currency and gold. The former’s supply can be controlled through certain means, while the latter is hard currency.

”So the exchange ratio between chips and visa time constantly changes. By controlling the appreciation and depreciation of chips, we can also achieve certain specific purposes.

”But visa time doesn’t work that way.

”There doesn’t exist another type of currency similar to chips within the community that can be manipulated.

”If we forcibly create a currency, I’m afraid that won’t work either. Even the most simple-minded players won’t recognize the value of such a currency.”

Wang Yongxin explained, ”I know, so what I’m thinking is another method.

”Simply put... it’s closer to ’insurance,’ or a ’Ponzi scheme.’”
