God's Imitator

Two days later, evening.

Lin Sizhi returned to his room and discovered that new information had already appeared on his computer.

[Hello, Lin Sizhi.]

[’Self-Selected Game’ has successfully completed its screening, for both players and God’s Imitators alike.]

[We wonder if this screening result meets your expectations?]

[Both players and God’s Imitators will continue to be replenished. We hope you can embrace the challenges brought by more rising stars with a positive attitude.]

[This game invitation will only be open to some God’s Imitators, with the game theme being ’Elimination’ and ’Judgment.’]

[However, if your position has changed, you may also make a new choice.]

[Accepting this game invitation will represent a change in your position. The Gallery will not promise whether there will be another opportunity for a position change.]

[In four days, the game will officially begin.]

[Do you accept the invitation? Please make your choice.]

”Oh, it can work like this?”

This game invitation was somewhat unexpected for Lin Sizhi.

Although ’Self-Selected Game’ had caused Xu Tong’s death, for Lin Sizhi, given that the Gallery had provided a fixed elimination rate, it was impossible for him to control whether any specific individual would die.

Community 17 only experiencing one death was already a relatively good result he could strive for.

Lin Sizhi’s design of such basic rules, along with creating a game unit like ’Auction Tycoon,’ was essentially to maximize the survival rate of ’specific groups of people’ under the premise of ’completing the Gallery’s elimination targets.’

It could be said that from the beginning, Lin Sizhi had never considered the life or death of God’s Imitators.

Because under the established rules given by the Gallery, it was impossible for both players and God’s Imitators to just meet the minimum death rate, one side’s death rate would inevitably exceed it.

If the basic rules favored God’s Imitators, then players would likely be harvested in large numbers.

In most cases, foolish God’s Imitators posed no less of a threat to players than clever ones.

Therefore, Lin Sizhi still preferred to eliminate some of the less intelligent God’s Imitators.

With God’s Imitators dying in large numbers, the Gallery’s environment would naturally undergo some changes.

For instance, there should be a batch of new players becoming God’s Imitators.

Among them, a batch of dangerous individuals would very likely emerge.

This game invitation was somewhat similar to the previous ’Shelter Game’ invitation, both being ’only open to some God’s Imitators.’

As with everyone’s previous analysis, the God’s Imitators in the Gallery could currently be roughly divided into two types.

One type, like Wei Xinjian, cared for the weak and tended to promote peaceful coexistence among players, designing games with as low a death rate as possible.

The other type tended toward survival of the fittest, killing players in batches to harvest visa time and gain greater authority and advantages in the New World.

Designing ’elimination-type’ games was a privilege of the latter.

However, the interesting part was precisely this, after ’Self-Selected Game’ had shuffled the deck, with more God’s Imitators joining, the Gallery actually allowed God’s Imitators who had already expressed their position to change their stance.

If Lin Sizhi chose to accept the game invitation at this time, he could proceed normally with designing this elimination-type game.

But this action would also represent him actively choosing to become the second type of God’s Imitator.

Could he pay lip service while acting differently? For instance, accept the game invitation but deliberately set relatively lenient rules in the elimination-type game to give players a hand?

Probably not.

This level of petty cleverness couldn’t possibly deceive the Gallery. If he really did this, the Gallery actually had too many ways to counter it.

For example, games with low death rates would be uniformly rejected by the Gallery.

At that point, Lin Sizhi would either be forced to increase the death rate and set cruel rules, ultimately playing the act for real, or the games he designed would never pass review, equivalent to giving up the advantageous identity of a God’s Imitator.

It definitely wouldn’t be worth it at all.

Therefore, after consideration, Lin Sizhi still chose to decline this design opportunity.

He closed his laptop, and a thought suddenly emerged in his mind.

”Could Community 17 also have players filling in as new God’s Imitators?”

...

The next morning.

Wei Xinjian, as before, was the first to share this news with everyone.

”The next game is an ’elimination-type.’

”That is to say, similar to ’Shelter Game,’ it will not only carry judgment characteristics but will also have a relatively high death rate.”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone’s expressions became serious.

Yang Yuting said somewhat helplessly, ”In the past, hearing about judgment-type games made everyone turn pale, but now I actually kind of hope it’s a judgment-type game.”

Zheng Jie was somewhat shocked, ”That doesn’t make any sense either!”

Li Renshu also sighed quietly, ”If we must compare it with ’elimination-type games,’ ’judgment-type games’ do indeed look quite pleasant by comparison.”

Everyone fell into silence.

Actually, according to the Gallery’s rules, most people had also guessed that it was about time for a judgment-type game.

Other games were all better than judgment-type games, but ’elimination-type games’ were different, they could basically be seen as a superior replacement for judgment-type games.

Judgment-type games could be seen as a ’targeted attack’ against a certain type of player, designed to exploit human weaknesses. If one couldn’t break through their own weaknesses or recognize blind spots in their personality and thinking, they were basically doomed to die.

But conversely, if there were no obvious character flaws, if one could restrain their instincts in the game, or if one wasn’t the target of the God’s Imitators, then a player’s survival rate in judgment-type games actually wasn’t that terrible.

Meanwhile, ’elimination-type games’ not only involved judgment of player files but often also involved game strategies similar to ’distribution-type’ or ’screening-type’ games.

Simply recognizing one’s own ’original sin’ still couldn’t ensure that one would definitely survive an elimination-type game.

If they could choose, many players would really rather choose ’judgment-type’ than ’elimination-type.’

What was even worse was that because game invitations for ’elimination-type games’ could only be seen by some God’s Imitators, Wei Xinjian also didn’t know which specific players’ files would be selected.

Naturally, there was no way to remind them to prepare in advance.

Li Renshu’s expression was also somewhat grave, ”This happens to be at the time when our community has ’exhausted all resources.’

”’Death Exemption Tickets’ won’t be available for repurchase for at least another week, and the ’Refuse Invitation’ and ’Submit Suggestion’ functions of the ’First Player Identity Card’ have just entered cooldown.

”And there’s no way to refuse games where one’s file has been selected.

”The only approach we can think of now is for everyone to think more about their own files, think about what ’original sins’ might be selected by the Gallery for judgment, and then try as much as possible to remind themselves not to fall into thinking traps.”

Everyone said nothing more, each going off to make corresponding preparations.
